  • Don't buy the outdoor ones, one of mine has stopped working after a few months.

    • +3

did you not claim a fault under the Logitech warranty?

      • can't be arsed at the moment.

EDIT: I should qualify that statement…
There are many reports online of the outdoor cameras overheating and then cutting out. The indoor ones have a fan in them, yet for some reason the outdoor ones don't need this fan? - yeah, right. One of my outdoors has totally died, and I can't be arsed getting it replaced, because it will probably fail again in a few months time. And it isn't even summer yet, god knows how they will survive 40+ temps.

  • Pricing update
    Master Systems are now $68

  • pick up only……

    • Delivery is available from our locations at an extra charge

      • How do we find the delivery costs?

        • Add items to the shopping cart and then add your postcode

        • Just go to step 2 in the ordering process and it'll add it on automatically.
If you choose pickup in Step 4 it'll update the delivery costs to $0

I ordered around 5 units and the delivery cost was only $16

  • Nice pricing

  • Nice - I ordered two of the indoor cameras to supplement my exterior one.

  • Very nice.
Glad I missed out of the logitech shop deal earlier this year =)

  • Sweet, just placed my order.

Question - can you just sit the indoor cameras at a window facing outward, thereby acting like an outdoor camera?

    • +8

No - it detects the sunlight and blows up.

      • +1

lol… just wanted to ensure there were no obvious design defects that would prevent that kind of setup…

an exploding camera would be a worry!

        • No worries…I think it should be fine. :)

    • +1

Not sure about Stix's answer. On their website if you click on the link, there's a comment by a Jim Jennings and he says "…as the suction-cup window mounts allowed me to easily mount the cameras inside but still see outside."

  • +1

    Hmmmm.. thanks for that.
Must also remember to look for reflections via mirrors and glass to ensure longevity of unit.

  • Should work but some reflection/quality problem due to the glass window. Haven't tried.

  • If I wanted to get 2 indoor and one outdoor, do I need to purchase the software bundle twice or is it the same software for outdoor and indoor? TIA

  • Same software for indoor/outdoor

    • thanks mate

  • So the "Master" systems come with the HomePlug networking things? 1 x Master System will have everything I need to use the 1 camera it comes with? cheers

    • +1

Yep. The master system just adds the software and the home plug. The add ons have the home plug built into the power supply. Where as the master system needs the interface (homeplug with USB interface) so you can connect into the computer via the USB.

      • Thanks Pete!

  • Well I've already confirmed an order, but stock levels still haven't adjusted so not sure how that's working for others still placing orders?

  • how does this work exactly? Is it wirless? where does it get the power? do I need to have internet connection?

  • +1

I bought the outdoor system when the logitech special was on.
I have one camera on my shed (rural) which has it's own sub switchboard off the house main and to my amazement it works perfectly.
It's extremely easy to set up amd the software is good.
The camera mounts are a little bit light weight but maybe I am expecting too much.
    Very happy with my system

    cheers

  • This doesnt have remote viewing does it? :P

I doubt with this price hehe

    • yes, the software allows for remote viewing.

    • yes it does. But you need to pay for this service as an extra.

  • well…is abit late to order now I think the site is super slow….

xception I think there is remote viewing thats the whole point…but u need the master unit

  • Anyone know if the motion detection can wake up a sleeping PC?

    • Well indeed a good question….I don't like thr idea of needing a PC constantly powered up just to view the camera.

IP cameras (no requiring an always on PC) have superseeded this type of technology now, hence the clearence prices on these types of cameras.

      • True…it'd be good running these on an atom system or similar.

  • So to view my house from some other location I would need to pay an additional fee?

    • No - free remote viewing.

      see features at http://www.logitech.com/en-au/webcam-communications/video-se…

"A password-protected, Web-based account lets you log in to view live video online—anywhere, anytime. It’s accessible from your Windows® Mobile phone too."

I wonder if it works with an iPhone or Android phone - anyone know?

EDIT: Previous posts say you do need to pay for the remote viewing service

  • Got to the confirm order, and then got a website is down for maintenance page.

  • Sounds good. So just to confirm, you would need to leave your home or what ever computer it is connect to on all the time for it to work correct? Damn power bills :(

    • Correct - it's almost worth getting a low power atom system to run it.

  • I have one of those IP camera the built in software sucks…..doesnt detects anything….

  • Can you use this if you have Windows 7?

  • Thanks, thats my only concern leaving my computer on all the time and wasting power for this. Such a pain

  • Is there any limit on the system? Eg, if I get 2 indoor and 2 Outdoor. will it work?

  • Anyone know how these go at night?

    • no night vision, according to the website…

  • just spoke to them on the phone - all sold out…

  • Looks like Ozbargain killed the HT website

  • I think thats only the indoor one sold out.. i called up to check and they still have stock of the rest..

Going to place an order for the main outdoor one.

  • Best to phone HT whenn these sales are on!

  • The websites dying… lol!

  • can you buy 1 of the master systems and then add indoor and outdoor add ons to it

  • +1

Suggest most of you read the reviews on Logitechs own site of these items before rushing in and buying. Seems a large percentage of owners think these are rubbish and fail just outside warranty. only 36% of people would recommend buying them, not worth even getting them cheap in my opinion.

  • Grrr I ordered 2 Indoors online and only got 1… and I have to pay shipping as it is shipped from another store

    • Nope just got a call saying that I now have nada.
Lesson learned. Call directly next time =(

  • +1

my house got robbed yesterday, and my female housemate was sexually assaulted while i wasnt home. we are both students and cant afford an expensive security system so if one of you who got an outdoor master is willing to part with it, please contact me. thanks harris technology screwed me over by removing it from my cart as i was slow in checking out due to heavy traffic on their website

    • Contact the NSw or ACT store as my system is showing them as having one left - There still may be a chance that they have an order that hasnt processed 100%

      Nth Ryde 02 8879 5130
      Fyshwick 02 6126 3410

      • That Sucks Balls. I purchased online within 10min of your original post.
But somehow my order was not processed until all stock was sold out…. 2hrs after my order was placed.

        I ordered 2 outdoor master systems, 2 indoor add-ons, 1 outdoor add-on
Got a phone call 30mins ago saying that they could only give me 1 indoor add-on and it had to be shipped.
Then got a phone call 5mins after that saying that they only had an outdoor add-on left for me.

        that's just not right.
So by indicating that there is an unallocated stock from an unfulfilled order giving someone the opportunity to nick it from someone else is just wrong

        • Online orders were fulfilled from the warehouse and not the stores hence why you would have missed out. The best way to secure your item is to call the store directly or our 1300 139 999 call centre number

          • @Harris Technology: I rung HT and ordered over the phone and ended up cancelling my order as they couldn't provide one of the camera's I ordered.

typical, over order and under supply. Not happy.

        • same thing happened to me! unfair…should give people who ordered early by whatever ways, rather than putting phone-ordering customer into high priority!

    • www.megabuy.com.au - outdoor system still available.

  • +1

www.megabuy.com.au also has them on sale (around 93 bucks for the Master Systems). They also price match, so if you can't get it from HT.COM.AU, try www.megabuy.com.au. and try to do it asap, while HT.COM.AU still has their pricing up.

Also, you don't need the Indoor Master System if you are already getting the outdoor master system. So you can get the Outdoor master system (which i believe is still available), and get an Indoor Add-On.

    • Thanks but no price matching on sale stock

  • Geez wahts so good about these??

  • +1

Hi all, I got the indoor ones last time logitech shop was selling them. Just a warning, the power adapter has a fan built into it and its quite noisy, definitely not discrete! That so far is my main complaint. I also had to get a replacement for the first one sent out to me since the USB receiver end wasn't working. So I'm just a little worried about the overall construction of the unit and how long they will really last if left on all the time.

  • What are you guys using to operate these at night?

    • 10000 Kilowatt roof mounted spotlight!!

  • Picked up my order over the weekend and was a bit dissappointed to see that my Master Indoor System looked to have been used and re-packed - rather poorly it seems.

Anyhow, I proceeded to open it and set it all up. I setup an additional indoor addon as well.

It all works as advertised. At the moment I've only tested night scenes with some lighting, so will see how it works in daylight. I have them mounted to windows via suction cups facing outward.

My house which is approximately 50sqm seems to have more than 1 power phase. This means that with my computer at the front of the house, it can't see cameras plugged in at the back, which is a real shame.

It got me thinking though, whether I could use the ethernet cable that I have running throughout the house. I proceeded to plug the camera in via the ethernet cable at one end, and plugged the homeplug into the other end of the ethernet via our patch panel. It worked! So this it seems is at least one way around the different phases problem.

I would also note that it's pretty crap how you have to pay to be able to zoom/pan/tilt using the DESKTOP software. Furthermore, you also have to pay if you want DESKTOP alerts. However email alerts are free.

Online viewing via the WiLife website is also free - kinda. If you can connect to your PC using 'direct' mode, then you can view for an unlimited period. However if the WiLife website needs to relay your image, then you're limited to sessions of 3 minutes at a time. You also can't tilt/zoom/pan online - surprise surprise.
