FAQ

Q: What are the Yeelight Blue characteristics?
1. smart phone control;
2. Bluetooth 4.0 technology, without control box;
3. RGB color LED, you can adjust the color brightness;
4. Mobile application software can accomplish more functions to take color photos, music and interaction.

Q: Compared with the light of generation 1, what is the difference?
The first generation Yeelight using Zigbee technology, you need to install a control box can achieve control. The latest Bluetooth 4.0 technology Yeelight Blue, your phone can be controlled directly on the bulb, without additional installation of the control box.

Q: How to control Yeelight Blue?
Install the lamp, turn on lamp power switch. Please use non-dimmable lamps. Download Yeelight Blue APP. Open the phone Bluetooth function. Open Yeelight Blue APP, connect Yeelight Blue to achieve controlling.

Q: Unable to search Yeelight Blue
1. Make sure you have opened the lamp power supply;
2. Check if your fixture is made of metal, metal will weaken the signal;
3. If another mobile connects with your bulb, you can not find it until it´s released.

Q: I am worried LED heat will bring security issues
LED bulbs will generate heat when it's power on, make sure not to use a confined space, it needs free air for heat dissipation; At the mean time, we add a feature to protect it when the bulb is too hot by lowing the brightness or power off automaticly.

Q: Wireless connection is not stable
Connection between the phone and the bulb will automatically disconnect sometimes, this phenomenon will occur on the lower iOS version (5.x) system, it works more stable with 6.x above verions. So it's recomended upgrading your iOS.

    500 lumens, so not a bright bulb ( about the old 40w ) so not great from a room I think.

      Here is an excellent collection of scientific papers finding adverse biological effects or damage to health from Wi-Fi signals, Wi-Fi-enabled devices or Wi-Fi frequencies (2.4 or 5 GHz), complied by campaign group WiFi In Schools.

      its not an excellent collection if it only includes papers which are one sided…
      nor if its backed by the group 'WiFi In Schools' which seems to just be a bunch of non-scientists scared of 'radiation'

      • -8

        everything is one-sided when it presents research you aren't interested in hearing about

        • +1

          EXACTLY!
          thanks for re-iterating my point :)

        • -6

          @SBOB:
          you had a point? I thought the point was just to bad-mouth any research you don't believe in? Especially when it's something you use every day that hasn't killed you yet.

        • @cheepwun:

          Especially when it's something you use every day that hasn't killed you yet.

          I don't know about that… I'm currently connected to WiFi, reading ozbargain and trying to read your responses to peoples posts I feel like it is doing that to me….
          Damn you WiFi… shakes fist

          @SBOB:

          I don't know about that…

          Are you suggesting it's killed you? If so, that would explain the KneeJerkAI which has become so predictable lately.

      Such an unbiased site there…

      • -5

        Almost as unbiased as the 'everything is safe' sites…

        • +7

          Lol you complain about the frequencies, yet you post a deal for a MICROWAVE!

          Ah, nice hypocrisy there

        • -5

          @Spackbace:
          __
          Yep, and it seems you miss my first line: "I'm not much of a microwave-ist…" Good on you for being so personally insulted at research that presents a view you're not interested in hearing that you decided to go through my deal-posting history. I am flattered.

        • +2

          @cheepwun:

          Not insulted, but if you want to have any sort of credibility, hows about sharing actual scientific articles…?

          If you like I can point you to sites where they state that Jesus created the earth only a few thousand years ago, would you believe those as well?

          Do you have eyes? And a brain? I am not here to spoon-feed. Not always, anyway.

          Please continue your tangents. I want this one to go for a long time. I am a troll, according to some. I also post deals on devices that can use wi-fi. And even speak about them sometimes. Don't overlook that.

          Hey you're the one that linked to activist.com, rather than any credible news source. If it's so easy to find a better link, why give us the dud?

          Not a tangent, you just seem to be very persuadable :)

        • @Spackbace:

          Hey you're the one that linked to activist.com, rather than any credible news source.

          Please provide a list of what you consider credible news sources that pass your oh-so-stringent standards so I can laugh at you.

          If it's so easy to find a better link, why give us the dud?

          If you aren't a dud, why not find them yourself with a simple search? Not here to spoonfeed.

        • @Spackbace:
          Well I appreciated cheapwuns comments, and certainly don't think they are a worthy of negging into oblivion.

          No, my collection is complete of course. I'll put a good word in when I swing by the offices tomorrow. Your research talents are wasted here.

          Harsh bro, harsh.

          As opposed to your 'research' from an industry body with the most to benefit from wireless. Next up: Politicians talk about spirituality and morality. Don't go anywhere.

          If the Woman's Day interview doesn't go as planned, A Current Affair is a good one.

    • Really sounds true to me. First 'paper' has a sample size of 10, second paper's abstract finsihes with "Further in vitro and in vivo studies are needed to prove this contention" and skip down to the seventh and it was only retracted and was trying to replicate the 6th paper. Haha

      I somewhat agree with this. Einstein said 'Everything in life is a vibration' so surely microwaves would have some sort of effect on us. I've found turning my Access Point off helped with my sleep, though this could be a powerful placebo effect. It was located in my room.

        easy enough to test… have someone turn it on/off without your knowledge and perform a blind test, its an easy experiment..

        and its 99.999% likely you wont be able to reliably tell (and if you can, its 99.999% most likely due to high pitched electrical noise rather than actual WiFi 2.4ghz signal being 'felt' by your body)

    • I'd love to see your reaction once you learn light and heat are also radiation…

        I'd love to see your reaction when you pass Grade 3.

  • Any reason you'd get the bluetooth-only Yeelight II rather than the Yeelight RGB which uses 802.11g and is cheaper? (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/281873)

    • i have the one with wifi but not sure if same as that post - my friend bought for me from china.
      VERY hard to connect to wifi, the apps is in chinese. its just collecting dust now

      • There is a seperate app called Yeelight which works much better than the Mi home app (if thats the one you where trying).

        I couldn't get it to work with Mihome. I factory reset it and used Yeelight instead.

    • edit: found a comparison. The LIFX colour globes do 1055 lumens.
