    • Yeah, works as a normal drive as well but the drive firmware and features are tweaked for drives used in Network Attached Storage devices that are usually left on 24/7 with the drives "teamed" together in groups.

    • Thank you for your replies :)

  • Average Operating Power (W)9.0 Idle Average (W)7. 2, two times of 4TB models. If you are running 24x7, need to consider this.
Also saw some review about the noise, hesitating to place a back order even it is a 'bug' price.

  • Seagate seem to have a 3 year standard warranty on all their drives.

I'm not sure where the 5 year claims are coming from… anyone got a link?

Edit: Looks like its the Ironwolf Pro series that has 5 years. This one is only 3 years.

    • It used to be 5 years for standard drives a long time ago.

  • I understand the price show in AUD in the title is an approximate amount but I always get AUD10+ when I try to check the final price.

How do you get the price in AUD? Thanks

    • Just check the conversion rate on somewhere like XE. If you pay using a fee-free card like 28 Degrees, it'll be very very close to the official rate. You wont get $10 variance.

  • Hmmm

CAUTION I purchased a few of these to go into a new Synology NAS and each one is exhibiting an intermittent noise issue which I am currently going through with Seagate support (each drive chirps every 15-20 seconds … seems to occur mostly when the disks are idle). I have reported this to Synology who have inspected all system logs and reported that there is no interference from the system.

Check the US Amazon website comments for this product … it seems like I'm not the only one with this problem.

If this gets resolved, I'll certainly be bumping this up to 5 stars as the performance is fantastic. For the time being, 2 stars as I am concerned that this is having a detrimental effect on the longevity of what really are expensive drives.

… I will keep this comment up-to-date and add feedback.

    • There's bad drives in every model. More importantly, will segate offer warranty if purchased from the uk?

  • +1

so many great deals recently on nas drives thanks OP!

And just purchased. Also waiting for the WD Red 4TB from PLE as well. I soo did not need another hard drive…

    • I received my 4TB HD from PLE yesterday. They posted it on Monday.

      • Just checked my tracking number, posted on Monday and it seems to be at Sunshine West VIC since Tuesday. I paid for Express Post but the service reads 'eParcel'.

  • Is it the archive drive or nas drive? Also what about the warranty in Australia?

    • Almost 100 upvotes and no one has an answer for the warranty situation.

Why don't you find one for us?

  • +1

Thank you, I have ordered 4 (in 2 orders).
It will complement the 2x 8TB Archives I have in my NAS.

Now I need to find a good deal on the Netgear RN526X or RN626X!

      • damn right, 24 hrs later, no regrets i did not order. haha. their loss.

  • I leave you guys alone for a few hours and miss the bargain >.<

  • ATO should order some of these. 1PB is no small amount of data to backup.

    Got canceled lol.

    • +1

Mine too cause it was a pricing error, meh.

      • +1

Yep, ordered two, just got the email claiming pricing error.

        Lame!

    • +2

Yep same, pricing message error. Oh well was worth a try!

      • What happens with the fee they put on out credit cards this is the second time this has happen to me

        • That charge fee I think is because I added a new card and they test to see if it's real and not a trick to get amazon prime for free for a month so you can't forget to unsubscribe without paying ;)

    • Mine too.

But when I ordered mine, it was already on backorder.

I am interested to know those who ordered earlier when the HDD was in stock, whether their order got cancelled too?

  • Canceled mine too .. was hoping for a early present

Now I'm gonna have to look for a 4TB drive to keep me sane

  • at least you all got an email, i didn't get squat!

  • It's been 9 days since this deal was posted, but mine hasn't been cancelled yet.

The order still says pending. Maybe some of us will get lucky and actually receive it?

    • Same here - mine is not cancelled either, maybe the order is missed by the seller? Anyone still have their orders pending?

      • Bit unfair that they can just cancel it now. Probably because they have to post it to Australia…

  • -1

Cancelled. Damnit!! oh well, think positive! Seagate drives fall often.. You won.. blah

  • Received a email this Sunday showing "preparing for dispatch". Cross fingers.

  • Just got an email notification telling me the drive has shipped.

I guess some of us got lucky!

  • Ordered three times (within 30mins). 2 cancelled for no reason.. tried to get a total of five drives for raid… one order (the very last) appears to have shipped.. today…
