if your going to pay the same price as 128gb model why not?

    • +6

just keep recording and snapping anything and sell it to the news channels

    • +4

I've easily filled 128GB with apps and 3 months of HD video and photos, plus a couple of movies, so yeah, could get to 256GB with little trouble.

    • +8

There are many reason why you would need 256GB. I download netflix shows, UDEMY videos, some pluralsight videos. On top of that, I record videos in 4k. All of those will eat up your storage.

      • Yeah..unlike normal houses, sadly we are not allowed to build extra room (SD card) in our jail or lets call it a 7 star hotel? :)

    • +1

      size matters.

    • games are 2-3gb now video pics, it all ads up

    • +1

Sadly ozbargain does not take sarcasm lightly. +1 from me.

  • Good deal… sorry I was looking at the other deal and thought where are international mins

  • +3

$8 more for 22GB from Vodafone and i believe they can match/better this price… (10% off plan cost).. if u ASK them. ($106 if u get them to match/better)

22GB is with NO international calls if u don't need them
    or
20GB with international mins… and QFF points.

    Vodafone does Student Discount also
so with that discount it would also be $106 a month (they dont stack the match/student discount offer)

    • Can Vodafail match Optus network coverage as well ?

      • -1

        You are right they cant
Given Vodafone has been shown to have the widest and most reliable 4G network in Australia, i wouldnt want Optus coverage that's for sure
Guess thats why Optus piggy backs their coverage off Vodafone Towers now….

        http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/06/the-state-of-4g-in-austral…

Last time I checked the only reason Vodafone has regional coverage is because of a deal done with Optus a couple of years ago. Prior to this many regional areas were just ignored.

I think that's a fair bit different to Optus putting its own equipment on a few well placed Vodafone poles.

Also I refuse to believe Vodafone wins out on 4G availability when it's a simple fact that Optus has more 4G towers and a larger 4G footprint. There are entire areas of the country serviced with Telstra and Optus 4G yet Vodafone don't even have a 2G presence let alone anything more advanced than that (check out the Tasmanian East Coast).

        • @tp0: Thanks. Saves me from typing :)

        • @tp0:
So many things wrong about your reply.

Will say that Tasmania is the location of vodafones call centre and also has some of the strongest coverage in the state. Telstra wins for sure but Optus is no where near as good. (Voda coverage in tassie is all voda, no tower sharing)

Optus isn't putting equipment on voda towers, they are using the towers and signal. Voda and Optus are building new towers together that's where u went wrong/got your impression.

Vodafone 4G is the most widely available of all networks. For. Example Vodafone is the ONLY company to offer a 4G service in the ACT as an example.

Vodafone uses optus towers in regional Australia only, big difference to voda needing to boost their regional coverage va Optus needing to boost metro coverage cause theirs is so poor.

Putting all this aside. It will all be moot soon. Looks like Telstra is going to be forced to open its network to domestic roaming soon which will be a win for consumers. Will simply mean price will be only factor in deciding. Coverage will be the same no matter who you go with.

        • @jimbobaus:

I still think you haven't looked at Vodafone's Tasmania coverage. The entire east coast. Completely blank. There's some pretty big tourist destinations over there.

Vodafone 4G is not the most widely available. Stop saying it because it isn't true. Telstra and Optus have literally thousands more 4G base stations.

I have no idea why you think Vodafone is the only 4G network in ACT because that's just blatantly wrong.

Yes I know Vodafone use Optus towers in regional Australia. That was my point. They needed that otherwise they would have absolutely no coverage what so ever. Optus is using Vodafone infrastructure to improve an already existing, functioning network.

Domestic roaming is not happening. Ever. It's a load of anticompetitive crap.

        • @tp0:

I'll have to correct myself there. Looks like Vodafone have rolled out a tiny patch of network on east coast TAS. Isn't that friendly of them.

  • +2

It's a good deal IF you want 256GB iphone 7 AND 20GB of data. No month to month offers 20GB for a reasonable price unless you're willing to switch to 3G.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing bigger data plans on month to month services soon.

  • +2

Any good iPhone plus plan at the moment?

  • +4

Optus still does not have VVM, so disappointing…

    • What is VVM

      • +2

        Visual voicemail methinks.

        • When I first heard that term, the thing that went through my head was:

Visual version of voicemails, isn't that just texts?

        • @Oversimplified: Makes sense to me. A shame that one of the handiest ways to have voicemail is an extra charge on a lot of networks.

      • +2

Basically, instead of having to call a number you just get a list of all the voicemails on a sperate page in the phone app and can play and remove them without an annoying 'dial 5 to listen to the next message' thing.

        It looks like this

        • @tychiang82:

It was a promotion if we join at Harvey Norman.
The $120 plan is already discounted by $20/pm and there was $240 credit in 2nd and 3rd bill. The promotion ended last week.

      • +2

You got me confused for a sec with the 'resign'

    • good deal

  • Few days back Optus offered flybuys bonus on signup. Does anyone know if we still get that with this new plan ? Maybe I'm a bit greedy but wouldn't be surprised if I spot in this website!

    • If you have an ABN can do bit better on this deal…. 108$ with 256GB Iphone 7 with 100$ Credit on the Bill.

Let me know if interested .

      Thanks

  • I wonder if Telstra will match this deal with the Pixel XL

    • I doubt it but try the live chat cause that's where I've had the best luck signing up to strange plans

      • Could you elaborate? I tried the live chat and they couldn't do else than the plans you find on the website.

        • +2

I've been able to sign up to old plans that have been grandfathered years ago by using live chat. Many on whirlpool also got discounts on internet/phone (both mobile and landline) and foxtel by simply asking for what they want not what telstra offer.

  • EPL included?

    • +1

      • Just want to clarify, Streaming Netflix without data is only applicable to this deal or any other Optus plan? I have 36 per months … spotify etc are free to stream .. just want to know about netflix one. Thanks

        • +1

Streaming Netflix without data is applicable to only the 120$ Plan

and its applicable to 105$ Plan too but Optus kinda removed these plans from Website.

          THanks

Is that any different to buying a phone outright and not having access to it for two years? I don't get it.

      • yes. similar to that.

  • Should I go in store to get this phone today or is it online only? Would anyone know?

    • Friend signed up last week in store so either

  • +1

Thank you OP.. signed up instore.

  • Optus has a high handset fee. Take it into consideration if you think you may want a new phone before contract finishes…

    • No idea where you get this information from. I believe Optus has the lowest upgrade fee than any others. A one-off fee to return current mobile phone plan is only $99 (http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/new-phone-trade-u…)

With Vodafone and Telstra, you have to pay $149 for one-off fee
      (http://www.vodafone.com.au/plans/new-phone-every-year)

      • That $99 is upgrade fee not handset fee. If your plan includes handset fee you need pay that out before upgrade. Although they let you split it into 3 bills.

        • I understand this, but how can you know which tel co charges higher price for handset when you leave your plan early.

Edited: My current plan with Optus is $100 a month ($65 plan+ $35 phone), compare with a similar plan from Telstra $113 ($75 plan + $38 phone) and for Vodafone it is $99 ( $60 Red plan + $39 Phone).

Based on this, Optus still charges you the least for handset fee when you leave your plan early than others

  • I'm due for an upgrade with Optus at the start of January. I love my Note 4, but this looks like a great deal. Anything for the 7+? I need to read up on 7 vs 7+. At first look, it looks like just the screen size and there's a black and jet black colour too.

    • Bit of idea for you

      7 has One camers
      7+ has 2 camers

      7+ Bigger Screen

      7+ 3GB Ram
      7 has 2GB Ram

Let me know if you need help with the Upgrade..

  • Im seeing $103 for 10GB data and $128 on 20GB data. Made sure I was on iPhone 7 too. Where have i gone wrong?

    • Dont worry, i didnt see the one at the very end….

  • Hi op. How can I get fetch to with this plan? I signed up in store last week and forgot to ask about fetch?

    • hey bh, just go back in store & say it wasn't offered to you, or call customer service & ask them to send it to you

      • Spoke to online chat and they wanted a link to the offer with fetch. Could not find it anywhere. Might go in store.

        • tell them when you go to sign up it gives you the option to add it for free its called "YES TV BY FETCH MINI", my mate got it when he signed up in-store (think there sending it to him) but its definitely available on your plan, to see what I mean go online choose the 256gb model & $108 plan then select "BUY NOW" next page will show you options you can add & you will see "YES TV BY FETCH MINI" "ADD" $0

        • +1

          @RogueWolf:

Thanks for replying RW. The fetch box has been sent, hopefully I receive it soon. Just looked up on the box and would need a broadband connection to use it. Bummer.
