SYD - Clive Peeters Liquidation Sales - Auburn, Belrose, Castle Hill Norwest, Casula, Mt Druitt

120

Heard this on 2DAYFM this morning, the following Clive Peeters stores are going into administration and Harvey Norman have been appointed to liquidate the stock, not sure of what the prices will be but hopefully there will be some good deals.

The stores are:
Auburn
Belrose
Castle Hill Norwest
Casula
Mt Druitt

We will be going there tomorrow to check it out, I would assume that since the ad was on the radio this morning that the clearance sales have started already today.

There's nothing on their website to confirm the sales as far as I can see.

This was mentioned in the forums back in May http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/25822

  • Must check it out…thanks for posting it

  • not all stores will be closing.
Harvey Norman has taken over officially as of Wednesday 7th July. All the big, big savings were to be found after they went into receivership (not liquidation) before this date.
There will still be good bargains to be found as the stores clear out the goods and brands that Harvey Norman do not want as part of their core range.
Ive heard from mates that the Ringwood and Moorabbin store were doing crazy deals on laptops and TV's because Harvey Norman and the Receivers didnt want to hang onto old stock if buying into a new business.

most of the stores are going to be renamed Joyce Mayne by the look of it.
see link below for some more in depth.

    • All stores listed above will not be Clive Peeters much longer, so yes, they are closing.

The only exception is Mt Druitt. You will also notice that Mt Druitt is the only store listed on Clive Peeters' web page..

  • If anyone spots cheap netbooks post it!

  • Just drove past Clive Peeters Auburn and there were heaps of cars waiting for it to open!

Might drop by there on my lunch break to see if there's anything interesting.

  • I'll have to head over to Belrose store and check out if there are any bargains to be had.

  • Do they home deliver? :P

    • I believe they still will. One quick item of note though, as they are closing down those particular stores, they are unable to order from other stores or transfer from them. So what's in that store is all you'll have access too. I also believe they are unable to check stock from other stores as well, so they can't assist with you finding another item..

  • Mum waited in line yesterday to pay for a coffee maker machine, and was in the queue for 1.5 hours.

Wow…hope it was a massive bargain! I don't think I'd have that level of patience.

      • Yeah seriously I'd have given up way before then, even if it was a bargain

  • +5

Let's see. I value my time at $1/minute. Others may value their time as low as 10cents or as high as $10. Anyway, that's a required $90 saving on the coffee machine. (For me at least). I easily spend $20 a week checking ozbargain! Unfortunately, I only save around $20/month so this site is really costing me money. I am sure I would save more if I bought more … oh the irony.

      $1/min equates to $60/hour…….wow, you must be on at least $118,560 gross per annum ( i.e. $60/hour x 7.6 hours/day x 5 days/week x 52 weeks )….wonder if you really need Ozbargain savings if you're living the high life.

      • You don't stay wealthy if you get ripped off.

      • +2

Accountants and lawyers charge $300+/hr, most of them don't earn half mill as suggested by your formula. ;)

        • They might charge $300/hr, but that doesn't mean they are actually receiving $300/hr. At the big accounting firms, even the little people get charged out at $150/hr, though they normally only see $24 of that.

      • HAHAHAHAHAHA

Man we are a bunch of scrooges on this site, estimating our time value and subtracting it from the cost of the item

        • Actually it's an extremely good idea.

Like seb, and just like a Business Model or Plan, I value my own free time at an absolute 'minimum' of $1 a minute.

This gives a definite sense of value to your own time and helps rationalize the way you spend, or waste your time.

If I get someone in to mow the lawn it might cost me $60, whereas if I do it myself it costs $30 in 'my time dollars' hence a saving of $30 less the costs of the motor mower, fuel & repairs amortized over the number of lawn mowing events during the lifetime of the equipment.

If it would take me 3 hours to repair a roof problem including buying and going to get the materials and tools, it would probably still be cheaper to get someone who knew what they were doing, to do it for me even if they quoted $200 or so and did it in 1/2 hour.

And we all know there is no such thing as a 5-minute job!

        • But you should add in the entertainment value of these posts. :)

Reading your comment costed me 20 cents

      • +1

Well don't just whinge about it, send off an invoice…

Except the invoice would probably cost you S60-$90 including time, comsumerables, postage and follow-up, not to mention possible legal fees for debt recovery.

So better make it out for $500-600 to be on the safe side.

Wow, so that's $10 to have a quick bonk with the GF/missus. lol!

      • +2

She told me it was $1.50!

        • +1

No, that was just the petrol money.

        • all right…stop pushing in the back and get in line :)

          • @ssp: stop pushing in the back? Ummmmmm I'm staying clear of that comment.

            • +1

@AntMan76: fussy about the back ??…..no drama….you can have the front

  • Hopefully it turns out to be something worth going too!

  • Is it the Castle Hill one is also Clive Peeters as I remember they are in difference number something Peeters.

  • +3

Your time is only of value if you are being prevented from doing something else that would be earning you money.

    • People will know how to manage their own time.

    • I agree with Meld. They call this Opportunity Cost in economics. OC = the cost forgone for the next best alternative.

  • Any good deals?

  • Haha… the comments are better than the post, I'm almost inclined to give a +'ve just for that!

  • I went to Clive Peeters at Auburn on Wednesday and there were no signs of a sale. Everything was still at full price. The funny thing was that the staff there were so not interested in their jobs, they were more interested in playing wii tennis than serving me - the only customer in the whole shop. I actually felt scared as I swear there were 20 salesmen / women.

  • Btw, the coffee maker my poor mum waited 1.5 hours to pay for at Clive Peters, Mt. Druitt, was a Breville Café Cordfree Percolator CMP12, RRP $109.95 on Breville's website.

    It was $76 at Clive.

This machine better pump up some magical coffee is all I've got to say.

  • Went to Belrose around 11am today.

Massive queue for the checkout which was manned by 3 people working as slow as snails. Average wait was around 1 hour.

Most things 30% off marked price and had been well picked over. There are plenty of fridges and whitegoods if you need them.

I suspect most good stuff that isn't still overpriced will be gone by Saturday morning…

  • all lcds,leds half price sony bravia 46" ex500 $900 sony hx700 $1000 with ps3

    • where's this? how do I get it? Cheers.

  • they were displays

  • back to the sale, i went around midday today and like more than half the people walking out the door i also had nothing in my hands, 20% off small appliances and 30% off some selected items is ok but wasn't my idea of 'liquidation everything must go sale' as Gerry Harvey said in his ad, some display models were 50% off, including a topfield stb i was looking for, but only a handful of queue happy people got stuff like that!

  • If the thing that you buy turns out to be fault, where do you take it for warranty after Clive Peeter's is long gone????

    • they told me for warranty you'd have to take it up with the manufacturer

  • I got a a computer from them. floor stock for 50% off. missing some peripherals, so im going again tomorrow to look for it and the computer is password protected by them.

it came with a box but a lady told me that if it wasnt in a box i would get 50% off compared to 30% off.

not much stock left and the place is a mess. i was lucky enough just to find the computer hiding under one of the salesmans desk. i wish i went earlier in the week.
