OPPO R9 Plus $579 ($50 off) R9 $479 ($70 off) @ JB Hi-Fi

70

Hi everyone,
I was about to jump on this deal, while a Google search of the phone lead me to the sale at JB Hifi, decent deal if you want to purchase outright.
Personally, I need a upgrade from my Note 4. Buying outright would suit me better because my family is on Aldi's prepaid plans.
Here's the links to all colours.

I assume its 12 months warranty? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I couldn't find any details on the above sites. TIA

  • Just found R9 has 24 months warranty:)

In all honesty these phones aren't crash hot for the money. Android 5.1 with almost no chance of getting Marshmallow, and the CPUs are very mediocre.

    • Agree

      • Would you guys have any recommendations for around this price point?

Been tossing up between a few, but havent found anything definite yet. Would like to have something with around a 5.5 inch screen and a reasonable battery.

Huawei Mate8, a little bit higher price, but much better performance and larger battery

    $1 cheaper at Officeworks ;)

(only reason I know is because I purchased one from there very recently)

This phone is definitely not an upgrade from a Note 4.

    • Trying to find reasons to upgrade the note 4 but it's still holding its own spec wise..

      • My phone's recently running a bit slow, like this phone's front camera :)

        • Flash custom rom for best results. Heaps of Roms available on XDA that make this phone fly.. Third party camera apps might be another option too.

U can get it for a $1 cheaper and also get a bonus 64 GB memory card at mobileciti

    • do you know the brand of the microSD card?

      • semi-permanent? (just kidding)

      • Not so sure about that , sorry.

        • all good, thanks for the reply.

        Hey Sophie11,

The microSD is a 64GB Sandisk Ultra.

        • thanks lyl,
I ended up buying R9 at JB HIFI, my local OW didn't have stock and wanted me to order it in. The micro SD card would have sweetened the deal.

  • Buy a used xperia z3 for half rhe price and you will not regret your purchase.

I'm not disputing anything anyone else has said on here, but I have the R9+ and my wife has the R7+ and we both love them

The wife's stipluation was that it had to be purchased/able in an aussie bricks and mortar store in case warranty support is needed.

Totally agree. I love the vooc fast charge on the r9

Better off buying an Oneplus 3 for the same price as the R9+

    • stockist?

        Greyist

  • kamban mentioned that Woolworths have a current good deal going with this phone. I reckon this is relevant to this discussion. (even if you choose to not go with it)

$50 per month for what would probably otherwise be a $40 per month plan for all-you-can-eat calls and SMS, with a fair bit of data. You pay about $10 extra per month, which means the "extra" is $240 for a two year plan to get this (pretty good) phone

    • thanks,I have included the link above in the post. I'm currently on aldi's L pack and it's enough usage for me. The rest of my family is also with Aldi, it would benefit them with the free aldi to aldi calls :)

  • Hi,

I am looking at getting the R9 plus as a upgrade from my Note 4, was at the good guys mile end (SA) and the best price they would do was 520.
I do have a couple of questions about the phone though.
Does the colorOS 3.0 mean that this device wont work with my Android Auto in my car?
How does the Sony below compare?

    Thanks Sam
