$10 off at Petbarn – No Minimum Spend [Possibly Targeted]

411

Got an e-mail with a voucher for $10 off. No minimum spend is mentioned; however, it's valid in store only. I've put a random e-mail address in the screenshot, but you can Photoshop or MS Paint your own e-mail address in, if you prefer (7pt Arial). Possibly targeted, though looking at the barcode's URL, it's a generic code. I assume you'd need a 'Friends for Life' membership (free).

Terms and conditions from the e-mail:

Offer valid from Monday 19th December 2016 to Sunday 29th January 2017. Illustrations photos and packaging are only representation of the products advertised. Retail sales only. Not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Offer can only be redeemed once and only at your local Petbarn store. Not available on www.petbarn.com.au.

Edit: Bostos has confirmed that he has received the same e-mail with the same barcode, so the barcode is not single use.

"Possibly targeted"? Seriously? It's got your email address on the voucher!

Poor form to suggest photoshopping of vouchers. There's ozbargainers and then there's ozbargainers…

As per my description, as far as I can tell from looking at the image's source, the barcode is not specific to any account as it's part of the graphic and has a generic URL.

It doesn't have my e-mail address in it; I've just put a random address in there ('ozb…@gmail.com' from OzBargain). And also regarding the e-mail address, it's not like I'm suggesting people change the value of the voucher to $100 off instead of $10 or make up a voucher that doesn't exist – just to avoid too many vouchers being given in with the same e-mail address.

    Great idea OP

  • Barcode is probably single use, otherwise people could reuse it and get a number of things for free as there is no minimum.

    • I think they track it based on your membership as opposed to barcode, as was the case with this voucher from a while back: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/265082

'Friends for Life' membership is required to claim the discount and with membership, they can easily check whether you've used the voucher before.

    • OP has already said the link was generic, but then don't know how the email is there. Fair point

  • Suspect this is a single use voucher. Unless someone else has received one. As a member of Friends For Life, you receive a $10 voucher for every 500 points you spend. Did you recently purchase something and tipped you over 500 points? FYI, generally $1 spend = 1 point. Although in saying that, the code itself looks very generic and the picture in the voucher is a Christmas theme, so potentially is a generic Christmas voucher?

I suspect this is targeted because it's a one time use and is sent to [email protected]

There is an e-mail address next to the barcode, but the barcode itself has a generic URL meaning that everyone who got the e-mail has the same barcode. The image the barcode is embedded in is just named 'gift-to-you-v2_06.jpg'.

mine has the same barcode number AL1726V01

    • Thanks for confirming the barcode isn't single use.

    • Just received mine and it's identical to the OP's pic.

    • Got on both our accounts.
Nice of petbarn to give such a long expiry date 👍

  • My wife had a similar email a few months back for a free , big bag of dog food.
I was with her when we picked it up they had a few printed vouchers sitting from others that got this deal, looked like it was targeted as I remember the letters under the barcode were all different (i was looking to see if it was targetted)

Just used the voucher as was uploaded by op. Worked fine. Exactly the same voucher as supplied was then used by my brother in law and again it worked no problems.

    Thanks op for the bargain.

    • Did they ask for any details from you? EG 'Friends for Life' membership email address.

      • Yeah they did for me. Asked for my phone number.

So to use this voucher you must create an account, then photoshop your registered email address into the voucher, then print?

  • I'm assuming one voucher per account which makes more sense.

  • Worked for me! Cheers! The young cat is now very happy!

  • thx op.

  • Used this today, thank you!

Signed up for account before entering the store. Showed them the barcode and they asked for my mobile no. They then entered in the barcode no. Thanks OP.
