    Microsoft Surface Pro 4 128GB Tablet $888

    It's the Pro 4 though…

    • +1

im confuse reading your comment JV, but yeah this is not core i3 i5 i7 but core M

      • +3

The good luck of $888 would be partially cancelled out by bad luck of Pro "4"… and maybe even "4"GB RAM, but then that would be countered by an "8"MP camera…

      • +4

lol, the best way to describe the $888 price is :
you had given the seller 888, that means you give them your luck of 888, and they got ur luck of 888
in return you got a 4… LOL

      • I think people are missing JV's Joke. 8 is a lucky number in chinese culture (888 being very lucky) but 4 is unlucky because it sounds like death.

        • Ozbargain and not Chnzbargain

    • This is the core m3. Its about the same as the i3 surface pro 3. Considerably worse than the i5 model above it. If your just using it as a big tablet though and maybe using word and internet explorer/watching movies, its fine.

Id probably amend the title to say m3.

      • It's also fanless, silent, cooler & less battery hungry…just FYI.

      • This is the core m3. Its about the same as the i3 surface pro 3.

        No it isn't.

        • +1

It is from the like two benchmarks I've seen. Its worse in a few ways and better in others. Like I think processing power its slightly worse but has a better integrated GPU.

    • but you will die wealthy/prosperous….

  • Been posted along with other h n deals.

Seeing how regularly the Surface Pro is now being disappointed makes me more and more certain that the Surface Pro 5 or equivalent will be on the market in two months or so

    • +9

      Freudian slip

      • +6

        Can't discount that possibility…

        • I see what I did there :)

        • @shmahoo: I won't disappoint the discounted..

    • We just got new surface pro/books a month and a half ago, you may have missed it. They made a few higher tier models and upped the gpu in the surface book.

Due to how much of a tiny upgrade the 7th gen chips are, the surface may skip till q3/4 2016 for 8th gen.

  • +3

Remember that these discounts include the missing pen. The pen is $95, so the discount is only around $250 from the original $1100 mark (which is still great).

Then you need to add the $200 type cover which you'd be crazy not to get.

Also $899 at JB Hi-Fi with a free Telstra PrePaid 4GX Wi-Fi Hotspot device. Worth considering for an extra $11 (valued at $59), if you don't have the Amex offer.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/tablets/microsof…

    • i picked one up from Coles (Telstra Prepaid 4GX) for just less than $30 and unlocked it from ebay for just over $3 (within an hour got the code). Plonked in the $10 Optus $30 starter (also from coles) that includes 3GB + 3GB offer (6gb total) when activated before feb something.

  • That is 4gb, which is not much for Windows, and not future proof at all.

    • 4GB is fine for most users. Windows is fine on half that amount of RAM.

  • +1

When did they start taking out the pen? When i originally bought the m3 version about 8 months ago it included it.

    • +1

Only recently since they dropped the price down for the first time to $999 about a month ago, pens were excluded.

  • +3

The specs barely scratch the surface

    • I wouldn't say so. The m3 is just enough if you're a pro photoshopper or drawer, or heck, even a pro web browser.

  • Is the pen really essential. I would think the keyboard would be more so?

I want one so I can run game tutorials while I play my xbox One on the tv.

I figure this base version would do that easily.

    • The pen is not essential, but I like it for taking notes.

      • The pen is fantastic. I absolutely love using it with OneNote for note taking. Very convenient and intuitive

    • +1

Lost mine on Day 3. Owned it for around 8 months now not having missed it.

    • The only time mine gets any use is when my 2 year has a 'draw'. They are pretty cool though.

    • Personally, a tablet without active pen is a worthless tablet. You might as well buy a 2in1 at that price; atleast the tactile keyboards would not be crap.

  • This model is effectively the replacement for the Atom-powered Surface 3…shame there's no LTE model.

  • +1

Hi, i bought it for $848 yesterday from HN at garden city. Asked the manager to apply 15% discount on 988. Initially he said 15% is for the I-series, not corem. Then after 2 minutes he said just take it…lol.

  • +1

what did you do in 2 mins to make him change his mind

    • He gave him massage

      • She?

        • Stop be so sexist. He equal opportunity Ozbargainer.

  • $688 with two AMEX is pretty good only if they have stock in store

    Sounds similar to lenovo miix

  • +6

Can we stop with the "$X with AmEx" add-ons?

    1. The AmEx deal is long past and not available to anyone anymore
    2. We can do the maths, subtracting $100 isn't that hard
    • hear hear!

  • Would this work well enough with photo editing software?
