The christmas spirit lives deep in your soul

    • Christmas?

Christmas is a time of year when Ozbargainers get together to share Eneloop purchase stories.

        • +9

          Eneloop purchase stories

Unfortunately since the demise of DSE, Eneloop stories now start with "Remember when……".

        • +4

          @ash2000:

Not sure if it's true, but I heard Broden bought DSE and then sold them on eBay?

        • +4

Haha a joke about eneloop on OzBargain, what a classic.

        • @Scab:
Mind blown! Ruslan Kogan is broden - it all fits!
          Illuminati confirmed.

Just note that the iPad for $797 is for only the 32GB Rose Gold as the other colours only come in 128GB

iPad Air 2 16GB wifi only is back to $498. Unfortunately the 32GB is not $518 like last time :(

    • Ah so mad I missed out on iPad deals last time. Need to use my amex deals

    • +1

I plucked a HN catalogue out of the letterbox today and it has ipad air 2 wifi 32GB for $497

      • :O

        Pic?

  • Do the Panasonic 4k tv have HDR?

    • According to the specs, no.

    • Firefox OS means stay away.

      • +1

        Can you please elaborate?

  • +2

You might want to add the LG 55 E6T at $3995 to your list as it's the cheapest I've seen it listed since release.

  • +10

Merry Christmas everyone. The MX Master a great price as well. Don't think it's been that low since the Dick Smith clearance.

    • Any reason office works wouldn't price match this? Then I can avoid fighting traffic etc for a mouse.

      • Don't see why they wouldn't…

  • +5

I do hate Harvey Norman because of their sneaky 20% restock fee policy for band new unopened items that they can just put back on the hook in 10 seconds. Full refund within 30 days if unopened my ass, not even within 5 minutes. Lied straight to my face.

On the plus side Yeelight now has IFTTT support for those thinking about wasting money on the Wemo lights or any other smart lights, you'll save hundreds.

    • +1

They don't even exchange you a faulty product. Back in the day when I bought a faulty Lumia 920, they didn't want to refund or exchange, just told me keep using it and asked me to make a video as an evidence to show that the phone is faulty. Since then, I've never bought anything at HN, just browsing and go online and buy somewhere else.

At least, if they want to sell the product at an exclusive price, they need to provide a premium service to the customers like David Jones or Myer (no questions asked when returning a product)

      • -1

Well they are not called "Hardly Normal" for no reason…

    • If your name tells a story, perhaps thats why they refused.

In Salamander Bay NSW Harvey Norman (Small rural town) they have all the specials and they offer great customer service too. I hate Harvey Norman, but I love that particular store. The business would be doing a lot better if all the stores were run like that one.

    • Harvey Norman is a franchise, I think it really depends on the store.

  • +2
  • Some amazing deals there, however can someone help me choose between the Miele C2 vacuum cleaner and the Electrolux? Which one is a better buy for carpets and general cleaning?

Nothing extensive, just floorboards and carpets in a 2 bedder apartment.

    • +2

I can tell you that they both suck!

      • :( haha that's no good for me. It seems like I was comparing apples to oranges anyway with powered and battery operated. C2 in previous OzB deals have had people give it good reviews at this price.

        • Personally I'd go cordless. Consumer electronics have benefited from technological improvements in recent years, and in this case, the battery in upright cordless (stick) vacuums. I have a Hoover Linx and find myself using it more than my corded (upright) Electrolux. It's light and powerful enough for me to do the floors and some carpet areas. Then in a couple weeks' time I use the Electrolux for all the carpets.

I'm not too confident about those 2-in-1 stick vacs (yet) because the actual motor is on the handheld vacuum, which ironically means they don't suck lol. Also I've never used Miele products so I can't comment on quality.

For a 2-bedroom apartment my advice is to look into an upright vacuum. It's light, less cumbersome and easy to store away. If you decide to go cordless then it will be even better.

        • +1

          I think they were making a joke…..

    • +2

Based on your cleaning situation and requirements the C2 is the better option.

  • thx, bagged a MX Master

Re: $55 WeMo starter kit, wouldn't it be cheaper getting 2x single bulbs @ $16 each?

    • +1

You won't get wemo link with that purchase

    • Need wemo link to control wemo bulb, http://www.harveynorman.com.au/brands/wemo
the light bulb is the best deal, cheaper then belkin itself and jbhf and binglee and bunnings.

      • Ah thank you both. I remember now that most of my lights have multiple bulbs or are non-standard size. Decided not to make the switch.

  • don't forget $100 cheaper using Amex for those that registered: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273327

  • Teac Twin Tuner PVR is no more..

Can you buy $300 HN gift card using Amex deal?
Like $200 and $100. I know they hate Amex but wondering if I could buy lots of HN gift card instore.

    • you can, didn't had trouble in Vic store near Chadstone

      • In store only or online can allow giftcards purchase

  • Have had the MX Master for a few months and the paint has started fading and there seems to be delay in mouse movement now. I am a heavy user and I think I will stick to wired mouses.

    • Strange enough, all high end Logitech products don't last long for me. You would think it will be durable given it's high price tag. I used to own several of their flagship mice (gaming as well as non gaming) mice and they were all broken after a couple of years (or less) normal usage. On the other hand, their cheap line products just NEVER DIE!

So i will take my chance to wait for Officework to open tomorrow and price match it for the hassle free return or refund policy from OW. Coz from my experience, it will break sooner than it really should…..

  • EPIC price on the MX Master thanks for posting. I Had my eye on getting one

    Merry Christmas to all Ozbarginers

  • +1

    Ordered the MX master thanks!!

What is HN like with delivery?

  • OK to be honest the first few times I saw the words 'hardly normal' on ozbargain I thought they was an actual company

    • +1

      They're a subsidiary of NQR.

  • +2

How long is the MX master mouse on sale for that price for? Thinking of getting one from my local officeworks store.

  • I saw the words 'hardly normal' on ozbargain I thought they was an actual company

Not far wrong, there was HN's 'Hardly Normal' advertising campaign.

  • +3

Delivery for the iPod shuffle (purple only, older model) advertised on sale for $38 is $14.95, and pretty much not available anywhere for pickup. Delivery for the current, non-discounted, $74 model is $7.95. Sketchy.

    • -2

in stock in WA stores Midland and Armadale; Munno Para in SA.

      • Yep, so "pretty much not available anywhere for pickup".

  • Does anyone know if Harvey Norman uses Aus Post for delivery? I'd rather send it to my local post office than my address.

Also will JB or office works price match HN? Can't really be bothered going into the city to be honest.

  • Is the surface pro a good price?

    • +4

Not really. It's a year and a half old M3 model and about to be replaced with a new gen model. I expected more than a $100 price cut. Also, there is no stylus included in this model I believe. That in itself is an expensive accessory if you need it. So the saving isn't even there.

      • Thanks for that. Will pass

        • +1

Wait for the Kaby Lake SP5 range. It's expected early '17. Rumors have it that it has a 4K screen. I don't know how believable that is since there's already scaling issues in the current SP4's resolution. If anything, it will knock down the prices of SP4 range and you can get an i5 model for maybe $1000 undiscounted (my estimate) or less.

Unfortunately you can't get an extra 4GB RAM without also paying for double the storage, so that upgrade is expensive.

        • @lostn: 4K screen? yeah the battery will be 3 hours top.

        • @dragonindespair: That's pretty much what I get already, at 50% brightness.

  • Thank you OP. Got a MX Master and a G403 Wireless mouse for me and my wife.

  • +2

Any thoughts on Samsung S5 price?

  • Thanks OP. Needed a new pair of speakers.

  • +1

Thanks op! Now S5 vs the xaomi mi max deal on the 27th…? I have the amex offer locked in. Would love people's thoughts.

  • Thx picked up mx master.

  • So I bought the drone last week (on Friday) and it cost $69.95, it is unopened and still has the barcode etc. on packaging.

Does HN have a store credit policy?

I'm gathering I won't get a cash refund but there is stock of the drones in all my local stores and I wouldn't mind buying the iPod for $38.

  • Thanks been waiting for a MX master going to collect one tomorrow. Any idea if officeworks will match and beat by 5%?

  • Do you guys know if AMEX $100 scredit still woks if you have claimed once already?

    • +1

      Lol now that's wishful thinking.

Sorry but you have to wait til next Christmas.

      • How about if you claimed the AMEX cashback already then refunded the item as it did not suit my needs, AMEX then reversed the Cashback from my account (which they did), anyone know if I can still use the same AMEX card and get my cashback for my next purchase?

        • Give AMEX a call and clarify. You have 3 more days til the offer expires.

  • +4

Went to Officeworks Five Dock this morning, price matched the MX Master to $63.84, thanks HN :)

    • Came to post the same thing. Just got back from officeworks. $63.84

Note their website stock levels is NOT accurate. Called my local store today and they had 2 in stock even though their website said out of stock.

    • Did the same to South Melbourne Officeworks and the staff was NOT happy……but I WAS :)

  • never thought i would say this, but i bought 2 just to 'stock up' on mx masters. currently using one with my desktop, laptop and sony androidtv with a flick of a switch. they are a fantastic mouse for $90 odd, at $63, it's a complete steal.

    • The best thing about them for me is they can be paired to 3 systems and supports both BT and wireless.

But compared to M950, the rubber grip wears quickly, as do the buttons. It doesn't take long before the matt finish on the buttons goes smooth and glossy due to your body heat wearing away the plastic.

Also, I've never been a fan of the side buttons being separated diagonally. Those buttons are small, and it requires more precision to press the side buttons than the previous mouse.

But the 3 pairings and BT alone make it a mouse worth recommending.

  • anyone had any ratchet problems with the mx master? seems to be multiple reviews on amazon about it breaking

i picked one up this afternoon.

seems good, except the forward and back buttons are not in a good position. can anyone who's using this mouse for a while comment on whether that can be easily gotten used to?

  • Any thoughts on these wireless headphones? I'm interested in getting one

  • Did anyone manage a Pricematch for the Logitech MX Master at Goodguys or JB?

    • Pricematched GoodGuys for $67

  • MX Master now $67.20 at Officeworks as of this morning so no more price beating, you can purchase there instead and use your Coles Group gift cards if you are like me and have a heap from December AmEx deals (purchased at First Choice & Myer).

    • -1

I can get that for $60.48 with 10% team member Coles Group discount. But I already have the mouse.
