Could get it for $80 if you add a $1 item and use the targeted $20 off eBay code if you qualify. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Fitbit-Alta-Fitness-Wristband…

Uh, its a fancy pedometer or am I missing something? No heart rate, no gps?

    • Pretty much. The alta has limited notification and call info, but the tiny display isn't suited for that. At least it can tell time which the Fitbit flex and flex 2 couldn't.

What would they use info about my wrist movements for?

      • They could use an algorithm combined with such info, to determine how often you pay Mrs. Palm and her five daughters?

Better to get the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 for $24.

Officeworks were down to $88 about 2 weeks ago but very limited stock. Fitbit direct were even $99 before Christmas. All jacked their prices back up now (supply/demand).
Lasoo says Myer price Starts 26 Dec 2016 - Ends 29 Jan.
Officeworks advise me new stock due in Sydney around 14th. Should be able to price beat then.
Called three Myer stores showing stock on their website yesterday. All said no stock.

When I was trying to decide which fitness tracker / smartwatch to get as my Christmas present from Mrs 2905, the Alta was one of several that I read up on. What I found concerning was the number of people reporting highly inaccurate step counting. Also concerning is Fitbit Support's responses to them.

Maybe they're about half the RRP because they only count about half the steps. :p

I do not recommend this product. Bought one for the wife on her birthday. The band lasts less than 2 days now between charges which is absolutely atrocious for this type of device. Compared to my dad's Mi Band 2 with 30 day battery life, its an absolute joke. Don't be sucked into the "Fitbit" name as this product is in the dumps and they are trying to get rid of it in a hurry hence the massive price drops.

thanks for telling me, i was going to purchase until i read that it only last a couple of days, which is a dealbreaker.

Only reason I bought Alta is to get flybuys points and Qantas points when connect to the apps. I also have to use Alta for AIA benefits (eg half price gym subscription and claim free gift cards etc).
If only Xiaomi Band 2 can connect and earn the points I would never look at Fitbit products. The step count is just ridiculously inaccurate, as well as the sleep data. Too bad no one supports Xiaomi bands here (I am talking about Qantas, AIA, Flybuys etc).

  • I thought fitbit died back in 2014? Who the hell would buy this shit in 2017?!?!

    The trend is over..

  • Are these second generation Fitbit devices significantly better than the first generation?

I had my Charge HR swapped under warranty 5 times within the year, before binning it after the latest failure.

Family have had 2-3 exchanges of their Charge and Charge HR devices through the warranty period also.

Mostly battery and physical wear and tear. They simply weren't built to last, and even if Fitbit support will swap it out when it breaks, that's only for the warranty period.

  • Fitbit is a dying company but very good deal. Got myself one, thanks! Hope the sleep monitoring is accurate.

  • These devices remain mostly a fashionable gimmick, poorly measuring the parameters they claim to track. Give the technology another five years to improve before investing.

  • I think black is sold out from Myer website so I just bought the blue one from their eBay store, pick up from Myer Castle Hill. Only Castle Hill and Miranda in NSW have stock. All other NSW stores are sold out.

As a Fitbit hr owner, I do not recommend this brand. Poor battery life, terrible durability, closed source app with limited data acccess and only a 1 year warranty.

I've lost count at how many replacements I've had in a year.. 4? 5?

  • RIP Pebble and soon, RIP Fitbit.

Fitbit really needs to innovate. They acquired Pebble but they are just dismantling the company and as a Pebble user I'm sad to see a succesful and innovative series of devices turn into vaporware.

Seriously fitbit, just make Pebble Time 2 a reality already. Nobody cares about step-tracking, that fad is over.

two/three years ago, it only sell 30 to 40 something dollars, now they double/triple the price and tell you discount, HaHa

    • But the Alta is less than a year old, so how were they cheaper before they existed?

  • Anyone received shipping confirmation?
