  • You'd think they'll start dropping these a little now with the new CPUs

    • -1

they support the 7th generation CPU's already

    • +1

This is X99, socket 2011-3. Separate class from the new 7th Gen Z270 socket 1151.

      • sorry my bad.

        Got confused by this

Supports new Intel Core i7 processors extreme Edition in LGA 2011-3 socket

Cant justify to pay such a ridiculous price for a mainboard.

That's just you. I know alot of gamers who built $5000 rigs

      • +8

I doubt it that it's just me. Sure, there are some people which believe they need it but I am also pretty sure that most of them won't use the potential of it.

        • +2

It is an uphill battle vs these people. Friend bought a new rig with gtx 1080. To play cs:go on a 1080p 60hz monitor. I repeatedly told him it was a complete waste and a 1k rig would have exactly the same visual output.

        • Australia has some of the most over speced consumer pc in the world.

        • +6

          @jiberz:
But why would a graphics card be named '1080' if it wasn't meant to run a 1080p monitor?! It's just deceptive otherwise /s

        • @jiberz:

I don't want to step onto anyone's toes but people which "need" such high end hardware are usually the ones that care more about benchmark results than real world performance.

        • @dosada: Pretty sure he has never run a benchmark in his life. He only knows how to play CS:GO.

my Asus Rampage V Extreme board cost me $650 at the time i bought it, still going strong now and yes its a choice a person makes, my 6850k cpu is $800 so yea.

    • My Asus Rampage Extreme IV begs to differ

      • +2

Too bad, no B1 and B2

  • Is this sold out as the price linked show $500+ USD or do you need to sign up for Prime just to see the price (seems silly to register and trigger the usage of the free period just to see if the price is valid).

    • look at the right side of page

you will see the "Other Sellers on Amazon" box that displays Amazon Prime price

would have been better if OP linked the correct page in first place

      https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CX4VL9E?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

      • would have been better if OP linked the correct page in first place

It was linked to the correct page. Amazon have updated it.

  • For that price, does it do the dishes?

    • +2

it's targeted at people who still live with their parents, so no need ;)
