  • Is this in the catalogue, an in store promo or something else? I am seeing nothing on the website about this.

    • Just posted screenshot of email.

      • Might be targeted, haven't received this email (got one earlier about Virgin status credits) nor is it in my Offers on the Flybuys website.

        • AndroidTM users

          no activation required

    • I got a notification on my android pay enabled phone just now. Opened it up and took me here: https://www.android.com/intl/en_au/pay/promotions/coles-5xfl…

      Don't remember seeing an email.

      • I got the notification too the other day. I presume the extra points have gone through, will check when the website is up again.

  • Wow didn't know ING was able to be used on Android Pay. What's the cheapest Android NFC enabled phone you can buy?

    • Bluboo Picasso

      $126.10

      $117.98

    • Poop brown Samsung Galaxy Light T399

      $98

    • Piggybacking, what's the best value decent NFC phone?

I need an upgrade from my Moto G 2nd gen which I still love but just keep running out of space in the 5GB usable internal memory…

      • +1

Couldn't say it's the best value as I haven't really compared with NFC as my primary goal, but I the Nexus 5X is a good value mid range phone worth looking at.

I was tossing up between that and the Moto G4 Plus, got the Moto without NFC because of other factors but I wish I had Android Pay.

        • Cheers, thanks, yeah the Nexus 5X seems good, I wish a sale would come up again :)

Combined with Stocard I might barely need to carry anything, just my license.

          Moto G4 Plus

Did you find a good deal on the G4+ recently? I wish I'd grabbed a phone in all those pre-christmas sales!

        • +1

@nuchalis: Android Pay lets you store loyalty cards in the app so you won't even need Stoard.

However, not all barcode scanners can read barcodes off the phone, they need to be imager barcode scanners. Coles have them as the seperate scanners on their machines, Woolworths have alleged hybrid scanners on some of their machines but I've never gotten them to work with barcodes on my phone.

        • @douglasac10: awesome, thanks for the info! I haven't actually tried Stocard so that's good to know, plus it was kinda annoying me with DLing catalogues…

Sad to hear about the imager scanner requirement, I'd assumed a barcode was just an image… if it can't be relied on that seems to make it far less convenient for anything other than shopping at my local shops.. oh well, will test! Thanks again!

  • It looks like only ANZ VISA or MASTERCARD, no AMEX.. Considering I get 1.5 QFF from AMEX and only 0.5 from VISA, I will have to decide which one is better..

Best to use this to fill up at Coles petrol station. Nearly all Coles docket have 8pts per L of fuel and when combined with this you could easily get 600+ flybuys points per 50L of fuel.

Convert that into VFF that's close to 261 points per 50L. Much better earn rate than Anz Amex.

      • I thought it was 4c now due to Accc ruling, or 8c with in store purchase?

        • 8 Flybuys points or 4c off per L

        • @nightelves:
Oh yes it would help if I read the post correctly!

    • I am sure Amex card would work?

  • +12

Better if you have access to 5% discounted Coles Myer gift cards + 1x flybuys points = 5.5% saving

5x points is only 2.5% saving

    • or AMEX Coles Myer Cards ;)

      • Haha yes, but even they will run out eventually 😁

I'm referring to ongoing payment methods

    • Where do you purchase Coles discounted gift cards?

      • They sell it through some of the energy companies

        • And some corporate rewards programs

        • @PBG: AGL Rewards only has 4% (ie. $100 gift card for $96).

        • +1

@scrypton: Oh, it is 5% when you pay with EFT/Direct Deposit

        • +1

@scrypton: Some places do 5% discount and can pay credit card with no surcharge. Like Perks

      • +1

http://blatchysblues.com.au if you join up - 5% off Coles etc. (Got free membership in a deal.) Just scan eGift Card on phone screen at checkout.

      • +1

An OzB member also sells them.

        • +1

          Dd only, no cc points

        • @Turd:

For extra 2% more then Cash Rewards! Even with points on CC, It's still works out better in most cases unless you get atleast 3 points per dollar.

        • -1

@repair-pro: 2% extra (i.e. 7% not 5%) is only for WISH cards - not Coles

  • Can someone confirm if ANZ Amex card is able to get bonus points as well?

  • Perfect, and just in time. On my way to Coles now for a shop. For those that don't know, Android Pay works at most places with tap to pay such as woolies self service check outs, even though Woolies isn't (or wasn't when I last checked) listed on the Android Pay website as a partner. Android Pay has worked for me at 99% of places I've tried.

Given that all its doing is emulating the contactless circuitry in a real card, there's no reason it shouldn't work on any contactless system.

That said, some of the older units that are seperate from the terminal (e.g. the now all withdrawn NAB Sagem units and the Vivopay units that are on older Commbank\St. George\BankSA\Westpac terminals) are a bit more hit and miss I found, some would be more willing compared to others.

  • I think it's targeted. I haven't receive email either..

    • +1

      It's not

    Bankwest also has android pay.

    • Yep, but Coles Financial Services don't cause they are with Citibank.. Lol

  • Pity I have to use up all the coles myer gift cards I bought during the amex offers.

Hopefully ING will release their Apple Pay this year…

I scanned my card in Apple Pay setup and I got a terms and conditions from ING. This looks a bit different from other bank issued card - you get not available message straight away…

Sorry OP a bit off the topic lol…

    • I have my ingdirect card enabled a few months ago. Maybe call ING and ask, maybe you need a new card.

      • I have just called up ING for Apple Pay.

Are you sure you mean Apple Pay? They told me they are still in the process but they expect to have it released sometime…

        • Oh crap, so sorry. I read your post incorrectly… I thought you said android pay.

        • @John Kimble:

Not a problem mate… I think they are confident to release them sometimes hopefully this year - at least they are in the progress….

  • Thanks, OP.
Just bought eftpos gc from the other deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/285291 add'l 5x points.

    • I don't think you will get 5x points. The Terms and Conditions exclude this kind of purchase.

    • -2

      5 X 0 = 0

      • You get base points for giftcards in Coles.

        • +1

Really? For eftpos gift card purchases you get 1x flybuys points? That's an exploitable loophole if true

        • +1

@PBG: can confirm. I buy bunnings gift cards for the flybuys points whenever I'm planning to buy something from bunnings. I see you mentioned eftpos gift cards, would be exploitable if there wasn't a 5.95 activation fee and the max card they sell instore is $100

        • +2

          @PBG: Only 3rd party giftcards,obviously not Coles own-related giftcards.

        • +1

@Soluble: Thanks both Soluble & Neoika for confirming.

  • Any link to the T&Cs? I can't see anything about this on the website, and no email either. A website link would be good…
