Now not trying to confuse anyone both of these products are great liquid sealants. They are marketed as waxes but don't contain any.

Great time to stock up on a few items

Don't forget car wash

Hey, why not buy them from amazon?

I found they are always cheaper @amazon

Oh, my bad. They changed rule, not ship to AU now

    • Great observation. While I check Amazon out a lot for detailing gear (as it is cheaper for a number of things) I have never looked up the liquid polishes. Probably because I prefer a paste wax over a liquid. For anyone interested and not in a rush. The Ultimate polish is significantly cheap, approx. $31 delivered. Thanks for pointing it out

      • polish or wax $31 delivered?

and which do you recommend - Ultimate or NXT liquid wax

        • +1

31 for the ultimate wax kit

I haven't checked the polish price as phone almost flat but I'm sure it will be much cheaper

I would choose the ultimate over NXT for the durability. Not that NXT is a crap product

        • @4agte: Sweet, I'm going for the ultimate wax kit. Also picked up the Ultimate Polish today from SCA thanks to your other post!

  • Is this the same stuff the car yard wants to sell for $1900 in a package with fabric and carpet protection? Can you recommend a carpet and fabric protection product? Thanks

    • +1

No that would be a paint protection like Opti-Coat. It's a bit like having an extra layer of clearcoat. Optimum spent big bucks on having CSIRO testing. They are the only brand as far as I know that has independent testing done.

For fabric protection there is always your traditional Scotchgard.

303 Fabric Guard is one of the most highly recommended protectants available

  • i used to use both these "liquid waxes"…they don't last more than 3 weeks before a significant decrease in slickness and gloss, and after 2 months it's like it was never really there :(

    • How much work does it take to Apply?

      • easy and effortless enough, but i just don't have the time any more to keep reapplying.

applying a few layers of thin, even coats for best bonding to your paint and easier buffing off

    • Are you polishing each time before laying the sealant? Not that you need to but if you are then it could be left over oils causing boonding issues. 2 months is a pretty poor performance for a sealant. I don't blame you for giving up on it if that is the case

      • not each time, probably more like 1 in 5 times..? shouldn't matter though; i give it a thorough ipa wipe-down first regardless of whether i polished or not beforehand.

wish more manufacturers made sample sizes of their products available.

        • Yes you are correct there is absolutely no benefit in polishing everytime. Polishing once a year is usually sufficent. Afterall that is the point of the sealant - to protect the clearcoat you just polished.

Using an IPA mix should definitely remove any leftover polishing oils and the very fact you are doing so is better than what 95% of people do. I totally agree with you on the sample sizes. It can be a win-win for company and customer. Eg. like Dodo Juice sample pots means customers try more waxes of their waxes at a higher price point.

Usually protection fails because of poor prep but I have read plenty of your helpful posts on OzB to understand you definitely know what you are doing. 2 months is shocking durability for a sealant. Some of the better spray waxes and sealants would do a better job.

Something like this would be a far better option as far as sealants go:

You probably meant this one - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/menzerna/power_lo…

You have linked is an AIO (All in one) instead. Which is similiar to a cleaner wax. Eg. https://www.zas.com.au/product/185/meguiars_cleaner_wax_past…

Oh God, you're right. The one you linked is the one I bought in a pack with the Menzerna polish.

Another amazing sealant from all accounts is called Wolfgang and available on Amazon. But the Menzerna is highly regarded and quite reasonably priced and local. Cheers

        • The price of Wolfgang is also amazing.

I'm very happy with ps21 wax, and it was relatively cheap. Very easy to work with

        • @bti_jet:

I have only used a few Wolfgang products but super pleased with their results. Wolfgang Uber Rinseless Wash is an amazing product and rate it as highly in waterless wash concentration as Ultima Waterless Wash Plus which I consider to be the best waterless product bar none. I expect no less in terms of quality WG given it is one Autogeeks own labels

  • All Meguirs waxes and polishes are utter crap and need to be applied bi-weekly or monthly tops.

I personally buy my gear from carcareproducts.com.au and for a wax would never uae anything below dodo juice… ive had the same tub for 7 years and its still has 80% remaining. Lasts for around 6 montha on the car. Worth around $100 and made in the UK

There are better waxes but worth 3 times the amount of dodo so for me works better than any supercheap crap

    https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/products/dodo_juice/exter…

Oh and different waxes for different colour vehicles and can be applied to the windows and acts as a rainX

  • All Meguirs waxes and polishes are utter crap and need to be applied bi-weekly or monthly tops

Now this is where you lost me and it is unfortunate as somethings you said I agree with

Meguiars polishes are also one of the highest regarded products among detailers. I challenge you to find me one bad review of any Meguiars consumer or detailer range polishes

Or find me a bad review on Meguiars D156 spray wax or their ultimate spray wax

need to be applied bi-weekly or monthly tops

So what is it do their products need to be applied fornightly or no more that monthly? You have said opposing things. Also I don't think you understand the concept of polish. Wax protects the clarity of ythe clearcoat which has been achieved with polish

would never uae anything below dodo juice

I'm one of Dodo Juices biggest fans but I still think Meguiars make some products better than them. Eg. Meguiars Ultimate Polish > Lime Prime. I'm also curious what you consider better than Dodo Juice if you consider this your baseline product. I have turned hand over fist in money at Dodo Juice and spoke often to the owner of Carnauba Wax Shop in the UK. He is the make of DJ Rubbish Boy's Juiced Edition which is my favourite wax. I certainly agree with you that a little goes a long way

applied to the windows and acts as a rainX

Any wax can achieve this but even Dom from DJ would strongly discourage you from apply paste waxes to windows. There are better and safer products which can be used on windows
