    Thanks OP.

I'm a responsible gambler, I alway bet on black and always stop after the free multiple spin feature on the pokies if I win big.

does it mean we can use 6hrs all in one day to complete course in 1 day instead of duration:1week?

    • I guess they will provide you with a time table once you enroll. Try giving them a cal. They are good people to talk to

    • You will need to attend approximately 6 hours of class for 1 day. An indication of how your weekly timetable may look is: Thursday 12 January from 9:00am to 4:00pm

      • Any way we can change our timetable? I can only do 3 of the rcg days as I'm overseas

I wonder if I can use this to update my RSA rather than get a new one.

    • i wonder too.. can any1 answer

    • I'm planning to try the same actually
I can't imagine why it wouldn't work tbh

    • +1

You can if your card has expired but im not sure if your just trying to top up

  • how long typically is the validity of rsa (expiry)?

    • +1

5 years from when you get the card iirc.

The card you can get up to 3 months after the certificate.

  • +1

why couldn't they do them closer to me
    im probably not eligible anyway…………….

  • +12

When I did mine the instructor literally gave us all the answers for the test. It was a complete joke.

  • +1

You can do both in with online with OTEN, still need to pay the rego fees though. Look up the courses here and see if you're eligible!

  • Thanks OP, this is exactly what my son needed.

  • So does this mean it is completely free? Or do we still have to pay the registration fee?

    • +1

These courses are part of Smart and Skilled part qualifications.
They do not attract a fee, so they should be completely free.

  • Can a working adult who graduated from university get a USI?

    Anything similar for Brisbane?

    • I'd love to see something similar in QLD too, although ideally not just Brisbane.

  • +9

    can I do it online?

  • In regards to the RSA that starts on Monday 27th of February? I have full time work, are there any options for people in my position for evenings or weekends?

They are six hour one day courses so considering it "starts" on that date does that mean other dates are offered? Thanks

    • +2

I sent them an email hoping to clarify this. Will keep you posted if they reply.

      • Thankyou

It says you need a Unique Student Identifier
But when I try to get one, it says it's closed
    Poohhhh

  • Am i eligible if im currently studying university????

it says "To be eligible for government-subsidised training you must be:

    15 years old or over
    no longer at school
    living or working in NSW
an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen."

"No longer at school", I don't really know what that means.

    • +3

It means you must be no longer at school

      • is uni considered school?

        • need help, want to enrol for tmw :(

        • +1

School is school, University is University/college.

        • No. School is primary/high school

        • +4

@Martijn: I heard they're pretty strict about not letting primary schoolers pull pints and operate the pokies

  • Do you think one would be able to do more than one course?

    • ye, u can do as many as you like

  • How are the job opportunities after these certificates?

    • Yes it is mandatory to serve alcohol and there are lots of bar jobs, though obviously at the nightlife hours, and dodgy pay rates are common in the industry.

    • Well, you could get more bar exp at festivals? They don't pay though.

  • Will this give me a student email address?

    • No

      • Why wouldn't it? You'll get a TAFE number and login so you can access your results later down the track. You also can view your invoices, even if they are for $0.

        • TAFE emails aren't student emails:

          @tafensw.net.au

        • @blighst: I'm at two different TAFE institutes (not SIT though, so I can't check for this exact offer, sorry) but it gives me access to Lydia.com and Office 365 for free using my TAFE email address. What are you looking to use it for?

        • @blerk:

Wouldn't know I'm not OP. I have access to a student email so don't need one myself.

        • @blerk: Lynda.com

  • RSA has a fee.

This is an excellent hands-on course for those students wanting to acquire food and beverage skills to work in a hospitality establishment. This course also includes the one day Responsible of Service of Alcohol (RSA) workshop however there is an additional fee of $70 per student to cover the cost of the RSA card. There is an initial two weeks of intensive training in the restaurant and bar followed by one week of three lunchtime service shifts in our training restaurant.

    • So not free? Maybe info should be updated. Where do you find this info?

      • +1

Please read the description. The 70$ registration fee is included in the course.

    • That looks to be a copy and paste from a course that goes above and beyond just an RSA and hence may not attract the same government funding that this one has.

  • can it be done online?

  • Why is it only NSW and not Act when really we're the same thing…

    • TAFE NSW is state funded. "We" voted in folks who have demolished the vocational education sector, you didn't. We have to live with their atrocious f-up, you don't. We get the odd perk while they try to crawl back for student numbers, you don't. So no, not the same.

      • Makes sense.

I wouldn't mind working in a nightclub just for fun but I'm not going to pay $500 to do it.

  • did anyone actually get into the course, both of them was full, and i signed up on the dot.

    • What details did you use? Student/unemployed/need for work etc

      • ye i did, same details, all the courses were full, they sent the emails =.=

        • They rang me and said the Loftus course was very popular and asked if I can confirm my availability. I said yes.

Just today I received an e-mail they call a receipt for attending the course.
