pricematch to officeworks for ~ $18

    • Good idea, always forget about the price match. Pity it isn't on the Officeworks school list too..

      • Knowing Officeworks they will say the warranty time is different therefore they can't price match it.

        • That seems a bit stingy, seems companies will do anything to get out of honouring stuff these days…

        • +1

@ShamelessBargains: Usually more for big ticket items that are overly priced. So they will tack on one year of extra warranty themselves, say that the warranty isn't the same and prevent the price match.

        • @YellowKnight:

Price beat only in store? Or can it be done online?

          Nvm..I checked the t&cs

        • There is no reason why they shouldn't. Warranty is exactly the same. Make sure you push them to honour it.

        • I just bought this from OfficeWorks Pitt Street near Town Hall for $18.05 with price matching.

There are only black color available.

        • +3

          Hey Yellowknight.

This used to be old OW policy - made it difficult to price match MSY etc even for staff!

I can tell you with certainty that that policy has definitely been dropped. Only requirements now are:

Must be an Oz business with ABN.
Must be Oz stock (no grey import)
          Can't be clearance/runout/coupon-code-discount stock.
If can't pick up in local metro, must include delivery.

Hope that helps! (current OW team member)

        • @marth6:
          hey marth6 -
The Officeworks policy does still state non-exact warranties are excluded? (referring to http://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/lowest-pr…)

          • What items are excluded from the LPG?

          • Non identical products and services (inclusive of non identical warranties)

        • @tfalcon:

IT MUST be an exact match.

The trouble (often with mobiles) is that most often grey import stock is listed as "Australian Warranty"…till you read that it is a 1-year warranty by the retailer; no manufacturers warranty so god knows what replacement parts they use, or the quality/longevity of repairs. No items are excluded from LPG, however they NEED to be Aus stock, with the associated manufacturer's guarantee :)

Would this work as a permanently plugged in speaker via USB power and aux input?

    • +3

I did this with X100 and it work beatifully

      • Good to know, would be an improvement over tinny laptop ones :)

    • From memory, you can't charge and play at the same time with this one.. (don't hold me to that though)

      • +5

You can! I do it all the time.

        • Nice!

  • How does this compare to the Kmart $5 model recently sold?
    Louder better fidelity?

    • Got a link for that?

        Expired awhile ago.
Just got a X50 (price matched at JB) upon comparison they both appear to have the same volume level. Audio quality is maybe better on the x50 it's hard to tell I'll need to do a side by side test with two mobile devices. X50 is larger and looks aesthetically prettier. Kmart model is only $5 and has pause, skip and reverse features though where as x50 doesn't. Switches are nicer on the X50 but meh. $5 Kmart model is best value I think.
Looks like you might be able to replace the flat pack battery on the x50 though. Shows you how to dismantle in the manual included.

Thanks so much for the info! I bought the X50, but could use another unit, will see if I can find one of these, you never know ;)

I had the fridge - had a lot of problems with it (leaking, defrosting, water pooling underneath). Just be careful.

      • Just got rid of a 7yo Samsung fridge, died for the second time, at least $400 to fix it… wasn't worth it.

        CBF going with Samsung now

      • Strange, I have read mainly positive reviews on this fridge. It's a shame stuff isn't built to last anymore…

    • Great fridge. Have had it for a year, no problems.

      • Glad to hear it, seems there has been some mixed reviews in this thread. Personally never had any problems with Samsung fridges/TVs which is why I continue to recommend them.

My Samsung fridge is going on 16 years now, still as cold as ice, still willing to sacrifice my love

        • +1

My Sammy TV has been brilliant! This Fridge has been terrible! Ended up replacing with Westinghouse.

        • @31mop: Westinghouse is no better. The doors fall off after around 5-10 years and they make you pay $400 to fix it. They use rubbish cheap hinges.

    • +2

Have this fridge. i wouldn't recommend it.

Fridge defrost element not working properly, which caused ice to build up and the fan would hit it. Therefore, the fridge would run quite loud.

      • I had this issue with an older fridge, it gets really noisy and on very hot days the motors just runs all day and the fridge is not cold. The freezer is fine tho.

        • +2

          Yep exactly that.

My wife tells me off because i purposely leave the fridge open. Little does she know i'm doing it so it dies sooner.

      Hey guys

Just wanted to leave some input as i previously owned this fridge.

Unfortunately didn't have the greatest experience due to the cooler unit. Replaced the unit twice in 15 months before pushing for a full refund.

The issue was that water would drop into the cabinets and then would freeze up. This meant the cabinets were essentially unusable.

Refund process was painful as well taking around 6 months and many calls to the complaints team.

The pricing is quite attractive but please consider before buying this.

      Cheers

      • Same!

    • Back away, Samsung fridges in general have a bad rep.

Confirmed with their local repairer, who I'm now on a first name basis with…

      • Didn't one of their phones and washing machines have issues too?

  • +2

Thanks OP. Been waiting for this to come around again. +1

    • I am like that with a few deals. I hesitate for a bit, it sells out and then I play the waiting game :P

      • Why hesitate?

I just feel like I am wasting money on some stuff and there's always a chance it will be much cheaper in future.

        • @ShamelessBargains: Well $18 is pretty cheap. You spend that on a meal sometimes don't you?

        • +2

          @YellowKnight: $18 meals! Wow, big spender! :p

You spend that on a meal sometimes don't you?

No! I never eat out, I always do that mental math comparing everything to lost Eneloop purchasing power, and end up eating at home :(

But yes, I bought these speakers :)

  • Cheers! Picked one up for $18.05 at Hunter St Officeworks Sydney. Three left, one black, two black/aqua?

    • Thanks! Picked up the black one. 2 aqua left

  • Any eBay coupons which will work with this fridge?

For some reason I read this deal as a Logitech wireless speaker for the fridge.

  • 1 year warranty on fridge? wtf?

    • Remember you have your ACL rights too. I got Samsung to pay the repair bill when my 5 year old fridge broke down. The guy I spoke to seemed quite happy to help me.

    • What are you talking about?

      Manufacturer's Warranty: 2 Year

Plus it has a 10 year warranty on the compressor.

      • I'm sure that said 1 year warranty at time of posting.

        • It says two years on good guys site.

Thanks op, just picked up the X50. Plenty left at Bendigo Good Guys.

Great little speaker, good bass for its size!

  • Damn, I bought two X50's in November for $23.20

    • You scared me, you mean two for $23.20 each…

Officeworks price now $19 online. Still, good find OP

  • 50 odd left at Good Guys Liteyche in Brisbane. Decent sound for a cheap speaker.

    • Lutwyche?
Bought one for delivery as they showed no stock online.

      • I got screwed over by TGG when the X100 was on sale, the reason being their website doesn't actually match the quantity of stock in each store (despite what it says or if other websites can manage this).

        • How did you get screwed over? No stock in store, no deal? Or?

        • @sabracad: Yeah, no stock. But I guess it worked out in the end because I got this one :)

      • Sorry, autocorrect on mobile. Yes, Lutwyche.

Just bought a X50 from Officeworks not sure why I bought one but can I just say these speakers are pretty loud for its size and the quality is very good, doesn't even crackle at max volume very impressed, $19 well spent.

  • So, what do people use to clip this speaker onto stuff?

    Right now I'm thinking of MacGyver-ing a shoelace or ribbon… :/

just buy a $1 carabiner from ebay haha
