  • Very good price for the phone, the camera is particularly good according to reviews

The launcher isn't too crash-hot, but Nova takes care of that easily…

Now if Huawei got off their backs and released the Mate 9 here…

    • For this price I wouldn't consider it. It's only because it was released in Aus that it is so expensive. It's cheap as elsewhere. I would get the Honor 8 if i was concerned about OS updates, XDA support, and better screen protection. I couldn't believe the P9 doesn't have any scratch resistant coating. CRAZY especially for the price. Would rather get an OP3T for better everything pretty much.

        • haha..destroyed!

Well played, although I believe it depends on what version you get for a region, as the ones that my friend had imported scratched the first day he had it.

Also noticed that in long term reviews and even short term reviews it comes up a lot in regards to how easily scratched the front screen can get

Possibly something to do with the reason they include a screen protector in the box.

Gorilla Glass 3 is from the days of the Samsung Note 3 by the way lol.

@OnlinePred: P9s screen is literally as good or better than any other phone I've owned. No scratches yet after a month, just dont be an idiot basically.

    • +1

Can vouch for the camera quality/ability, been using the P9 for nearly 2 months including a recent overseas trip for 2.5 weeks. It's on par with the iPhone 7 in daylight condition. High ISO & aggressive software means night images is poor compare to the iPhone 7 unless using PRO mode with my improvised tripod involving the dreaded selfie stick.

Ditched my DSLR for the first time in 10 years because I wanted to travel light, no regret at all. The battery also good for a day use when traveling!

  • What's the difference between the Voda and Optus versions?

    • +1

from the looks of things, price and bloatware.

    • +3

      Hi sween64

      Differerce are:

Unbranded stock: no bloatware, 1 year warranty
Voda and Optus: bloatware(startup logo and preinstalled couple network apps), 2 Years warranty.

They all unlocked, accepted all sim card from Australian Network.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

      • Were they opened to unlock or comes unlocked from Voda or Optus?

        • +1

          Hi Gaggy

they comes unlocked version from voda/optus, no need to opened to unlock it.

        • +1

          @mobileciti: Thanks for clarification.

      • How about an ozbargain special on the moto G4 plus 32GB/3GB?

      • Why branded = double warranty?

        • ACL?

        • @ozdesi:

Yeah but unbranded would still be local stock. So why do they have less warranty?

      • Are the frequencies in both the same?

The new P10 will launch at the end of Feb. The price competition between P10 and Mate 9 will be interesting and which model will launch in AU is a mystery.
P9 price definitely will keep on dropping, HUAWEI need to clean up the stock in the channel.

    • +1

Huawei have been posting on Twitter and Facebook they will be releasing Mate 9 in Australia 'very soon'. Haven't seen anything about the P10 on either of those channels.. read into that what you will.

So Vodafail is $4 cheaper than Optus. Poor Voda.

Does it come with spyware from the Chinese government, or was the news that they kept out of the NBN network build to avoid spying untrue?

    • Is than any worst than the NSA back doors other devices
      http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/02/22/apples-iphone-the-bac…

      • Not necessarily, just commenting on how Huawei was prevented from working on the NBN by the Australian government with the reason released to the public that they didn't want the Chinese government to have that level of access to a major telecommunications project.

Just wanted to know if anything ever came about from that whole episode. Was it ever proved either way?

        • Not sure who negged you, so I've evened out out for you ☺️

  • +1

    Urrrg…another sale…..must resist til the Mate 9 comes out….

  • Hey Rep, why only 1 year if they're unbranded? Are they grey imports?

    • I mean 1 Years Huawei Warranty for Unbranded Au stock, Grey Imports stock don't come with any manufacturer's warranty.

      • Ok thanks for clarifying. Yes I know grey imports don't have any manufacturers warranty.

      • Hi Rep, can we please have a deal on Samsung S7 as well?

  • Bought my wifes P9 from mobileciti back in August and they were great to deal with, highly recommend them.

  • Great phone with outstanding camera.
I might look into P10 when it comes out in Australia.

  • Rep, any chance we will see 6Ps on sale again or have you cleared all your stock? Sister in law was looking to purchase one and you no longer seem to have them on your site.

      6p sold-out

      • Cheers, thanks for the reply.

Is this phone camera better than LG G4? Mrs phone just suddenly died this week and can't turn it on.

    • -1

Not quite, but very close. The G4 camera is incredible, still do this day.
I find the P9 better than the Galaxy S7, due to much less aggressive saturation and sharpening in post-processing. This cannot be turned off and I really really hated it.
S7 would be amazing if they just included the option to disable it, even in PRO mode.

Anyway the P9 has dual camera, really doesn't mean too much, but one lens is colour the other is B&W. The B&W lens is particularly nice due to it letting in more light.

    • Was it a G4 that died suddenly? If its under 1 yr old you can probably get it fixed for postage.

      • It's about 1.5 yrs old so no warranty. Looking at the G5 but it looks like this one has the similar issue. Not sure if if I'll buy an LG phone again.

    • My G4 died last week too… Same issue, just will not turn on. On the look out for a similar replacement phone too
