  • Didnt work in my camry.

    • -1

your camry doesn't have a FM radio?

      • +2

Probably the way the power socket plugs in - http://www.xiaomitoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/201510… - you can get around this by using a car cigarette power double adaptor

        • Heh there you go, learn something every day

        • +2

@Lenny Pepperidge: The splitter they recommend is this one here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/286281

PS: I'm sure the Camry has a FM and AM radio for the lawn bowls crowd :)

        • You can also just use a bit of aluminium foil to bridge the connection between the middle of the socket and the device. Cheaper alternative.

        • @trunks: can you explain this in a bit more details, trunks?

        • @twodollah: I create a little ball using some aluminium foil, then I wrap that little ball onto the end of the roidmi using some more aluminium foil so that it forms a little nub on the end of the roidmi that touches the contact in the middle of the cigarette lighter socket.

        • @trunks: Thanks trunks. Do you mind taking a photo of your modification? I'm worried I'm gonna stuff mine up and blow a fuse or something!

  • So your phone connects to this charger via Bluetooth?
Everything is then transmitted to your car by FM frequency?

    • Yes

      • Any reviews on the mic quality? Can you just talk normally and it would pick it up?

        • +1

Found an interesting review at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf3WZJn-O74

        • IMHO the microphone is close to unusable. The music streaming part works fine though.

        • @Orionn: Is that due to the location of your 12V socket? Had similar feedback via this review http://www.head-fi.org/t/809944/review-roidmi-2s-music-bluet…

        • the mic would be too far away from your mouth so it's mostly useless
I'm using one and the music streaming works well, just don't count on it tiny mic to have a decent phone call.

        • @zaqwsx3:
Yes, it is, but who has a 12V socket up near their mouth? My car is in as normal a place as you'd get, with a clear path between my mouth and the mic, just that the mic is down approx level with your knees. Unless you're going to mount a socket up near your mirror, the signal won't get any better.

        • @Orionn:

Some cars have them below the steering wheel, for the most part it doesn't look very useful though.

        • @Orionn: Mine is located just above the gearstick behind a flap that holds the socket and ashtray, so its about knee height too. Wonder if you can use the bluetooth through your car speakers for the phone call audio, and use the mic on your phone. My phone is typically mounted in a phone cradle on the dashboard.

        • @ntb: you could use the 2 paper cup and string trick.

  • Does it FM broadcast in stereo?

    • +2

Xiaomi ROIDMI 2S. This gets people everytime. I have posted the second generation.

  • $2.38 cheaper than last deal 😱😱😱 buyer's remorse?

  • I've got one. Mic is useless.Granted, my socket is lower, but not far away. I'd say it'd have to be close to your mouth to work. Didn't have much like with the streaming either, but that would depend on how congested the FM signals are where you're located.

  • Bought one thanks

  • I purchased one from another seller and they sent me the Chinese version instead of the listed International English version. I only have an iPhone and the app will not register the device. You can connect the bluetooth but it displays a Chinese device name and this is not recognised in the Roidmi IOS app. This has meant that I cannot use any of the app functions at all. Just a warning to all. If anyone knows how to overcome this then please let me know? Thanks

    • iphone incompatibility problems as usual.

    • +1

You likely just have the first generation Roidmi which isn't compatible with the iOS app you can only connect to it via an android device using the android app, I have the same Chinese version and just used a mate's phone to configure it, make sure to look up what frequency works best in your area as well because it can make a world of difference to the audio quality

  • for $18 worth a punt. hope it works as described.

  • +1

Any high output 2 ports USB car charger to recommend? I don't need the Bluetooth function.

  • +2

Bad experience with lightinthebox, aka miniinthebox. Read plenty of review sites, reports of scamming, custom made clothing not made to size and arriving late etc.

I've been scammed over a $400 head unit before from them. No deal. Ever.

  • Bought one and good for the bin doesn't work with both my vehicles despite their claims. Not having some massive ugly splitter thing hanging from my dashboard

  • When i proceed to checkout its asking me to pick from postal options that all cost money and there is no free option? it does say free on the add. Any one found a solution? - edit - refreshed the page and it worked all good :D

  • Does anyone know if it's the international version?

    • Just found the answer - international version is 2.4A and Chinese version is 1.2A so this is the international one.

  • There's one review on the appstore for iOS saying that the Roidmi Driver app won't work with iOS10.

  • +1

The shake function would make using this device potentially dangerous, in terms of copping a fine

  • Shake phone 📱 to answer phone calls ⁉

Nice fine and loss of points for touching phone.

    • +1

The shake function can be set to answer calls. You don't have to use it.

      • If the package becomes hands free it is on track to be useful. Now to dictate and send sms and to review in audio.

  • How's the audio quality for these? Had a belkin fm transmitter and it was terrible.

    • I have one and audio quality is pretty good.

  • Showing $13.99 US now.

  • This will work in Ford Falcon?

  • Just received one, and it doesn't work with my car. 😲
Didn't know that that socket in cars have two standards :(

    • if you don't want? I can buy from you

  • Is there a key identifier from roidmi and roidmi 2s on the box or product?

  • Received,works flawlessly in RX350 2006 model.

  • I'm aware this deal is over but does anyone know the difference between the gacomma (from gearbest) and xiaomi version of the roidmi 2s? They look to be from the same developer, just different companies. Also, anyone had experience with the Zapals deal of this product? Is that website trustworthy?

  • Just received mine and pretty happy with it. Nice and crisp music streaming while still allowing me to take calls through the inbuilt car bluetooth.

A question to others who have received theirs, did yours come in all Chinese packaging? I was under the impression that the international version should have English packaging.
