Had the exact machine, beware of 50 cent pieces it will kill the machine. Yes Im a dumbass and it happened twice. Once it just jammed the drum, 2nd time it punched a hole through the drum and water pissed out onto the floor.

    Other than that… Good machine.

    • +1

      Will there be a 3rd time? :P

    • I have the same machine too and surprisingly I don't think I've ever left a 50c piece in it. I've left all the other coins at least once lol.

Great price, but doesn't look like you'll get this delivered unless you live in a major city

That's cheap for a front loader, too bad I already bought mine 2 months ago

  • +1

I was literally just looking at this! Going to buy for my new place :)

  • +2

+$49 delivery , no pick up option :( heavy days

    • +1

      It does weigh over 60kg

      • Good lawd, I never knew that about washing machines

    • +1

Does it include taking away the old washer?

      • +1

Advertise the old one for free on gumtree whether it works or not and someone will definitely have some use for it. I always do this with old, faulty or shitty stuff I no longer need and someone takes it within a few days at most.

        • Good tip, I'm always on gumtree but never look at the free stuff.

Good machine and good price, but beware of incredibly long cycle times (over 3 hours). Also doesn't have a display to show how much time left.

    • +1

It doesn't allow you set a "quick" cycle? That's pretty unusual in this day and age.

    • +1

There's a "Quick 30" option and it's all I use. Great machine IMO and good price for it, I think I got mine a little cheaper with AMEX Harvey Norman $100 credit

    • +1

Which wash cycle and temperature are you using?

I use the normal cotton setting for my loads and my load times are usually the same around 1:22 for 30C, 1:58 for cold and 1:44 for 60C

  • +1

Good front loader. Paid a fair bit more than this a few years ago.
Pretty slow if you wash cold. Does like a 3 hour cycle. Gets clean though!

  • purchased, thanks

  • Damn, missed it. Looking for one.

    • Still available at Bing Lee store. Just updated the post.

Edit: sorry, thought bing lee was also part of this ebay promotions but its not.

      • No worries thanks. Just have to wait TGG or even better Appliances Online Ebay promo.

  • perfect timing. thank you

  • I get free hot water from the sun, does this allow me to use my own hot water and not insist on heating it itself?

    • This question gets asked time and time again. Front loaders use hardly any water, so it's more efficient for it to heat itself.

By the time you draw hot water from your hot tap into the machine around 1-2 Litres before it even starts to run warm, you've then got fairly tepid water in the machine which needs further reheating.

Further, if you select 30 degrees, 50 degrees, 70 degrees, how can the machine determine this if it's drawing in from a hot water system at a set temp. Ie if you select 30 degrees water but end up with 45 because you're drawing in from HWS.

      • +1

What? If you hook this machine up to your hot water it will use it wherever it comes from. I dont know why you would hook the hot inlet up to cold water?

This washing machine uses 70L per cycle. I imagine that 1-2L of cold water from the hot water line wont make the water fairly tepid. You will lose a few degrees yes, but it will still be hot water in the machine. You are correct though, if you choose a hotter cycle than your HWS can deliver then it will still heat the water up.

Your issue with the tepid water is more of an issue for a dishwasher, that they all heat the water up to something hotter than a standard hot tap, and they also use less water at around 10-30L per cycle including rinse, so there is more of an impact from the first 1-2L in the line. In that case there should be less of a benefit for a dishwasher by hooking up the single inlet hose to a hot water versus a cold water, but there still is a benefit.

If you want to save energy you should be washing on cold water only regardless.

It uses 70L per cycle, but that includes 3 rinses which are done in cold water. The Washing component I'd guess to be only about 12L.

Heating 12L of water by an element is quite cheap. Given 1-2L of water comes in cold from the pipes, it's a large percentage of total water required for the warm wash component.

If you boil your kettle a few times with 2L of water that's to 100 degrees, compared to 12L being heated to 40 degrees, probably works out the same. Miniscule.

Alternatively you could connect the washing machine to just the hot tap (if it only has one inlet hose), but then you're wasting hot water on rinses which are normally done on cold.

      • Front loaders use hardly any water, so it's more efficient for it to heat itself

Erm… no its not. It is more efficient use water pre-heated by the sun, even if it is only tepid water. The washing machine will supply further heating if required. It is much cheaper to heat tepid water instead of cold tap water (obviously).
In answer to the OPs question, YES the washing machine can draw hot water but does so only at higher temperature settings (?60c).

Further, if you select 30 degrees, 50 degrees, 70 degrees, how can the machine determine this if it's drawing in from a hot water system at a set temp. Ie if you select 30 degrees water but end up with 45 because you're drawing in from HWS.

The washing machine doesn't draw hot water at lower settings.
