Wouldn't it be better to use the $25 off St. George Bank code?

    • True :)

This one has a slightly longer expiry.

    • Think there's also WESTPAC25

  • I think the code

    25makers

Is still good for $25 off

  • Question.

How does uber define a new user?
By name? CC details? Email? Phone #?

    • Phone Number has to be linked to account so regardless of whether you sign up with a different email/name, if the phone number has been used before it wont let you create a new account

    • I've used same name and cc, different email and ph number

How many of these new customer only deals need to be posted?

  • +1

They used to track only the phone number but now track also the credit card. If u previously linked a cc with Uber and used a promo code it s no good. So u need both a new SIM card and new cc.

    • Was they able to track if you pay via PayPal?

Or one PayPal can only use a promotion code once?

      • Never used paypal, cards only.

How to get unlimited use of Uber first time user promotions:

Step 1: Go to 10minutemail.com to get an email to use to sign up
Step 2: Get an Optus SIM with a small amount of data. Easiest way to do this would be with a $10 starter kit which are often on special for $2.
Step 3: Sign up for Cash By Optus. This will get you a credit card number that can be used to sign up for lots of free trials but can also be used for Uber. You may need to load $1 for the pre-auth amount.
Note: For some reason this credit card number doesn't work every where, so if you have problems sign up for PayPal with the credit card number, then use the PayPal account. This is what I did when the card got rejected by Uber's app, and it resolved the problem.
Step 4: Sign up for Uber with email from Step 1, Phone number from Step 2 & Credit Card number from Step 3.

P.S. Many rides will take your device ID, so you might need a device you can factory reset to generate you a new one.

      • What ID are you talking about?

        • It's called a Unique Device Identifier for IOS and SSAID (Android ID) for Android.

        • @Unbreakable:
Is it like a MAC address of a PC? How are you able to change it?

        • @noskich: as below if you have root, otherwise you'll have to factory reset, and NO it's not like a MAC address, phone's have one of those too.

      • @Unbreakbale If your device is rooted, you can use this app to change your device ID without a factory reset. I haven't tried it lately, but it used to work on the Hungry Jacks app so you can get unlimited shakes.

      (profanity) me im homeless now

  • I am planning on using Uber when I go to Canberra on the 24th Jan.
I will be a new user.

Question: If I use the app for a ride in Canberra on the 24th which is before the day for the promo
will this be classed as my first ride and if then when I get to Melbourne on the 26th and use Uber will I be able
to claim the free $20 or will it be void because it will be my second ride??

    • it will become your 2nd ride. There are plenty of promos around for first time riders. It's basically like myer sales, every saturday is a sale lol

people on the street working for uber hand out discounts for first rides, discount codes online, referral discount codes etc

Be extra cautious when making the default payment option, once you pressed the wrong button with Uber, you ain't gonna get your money back, really poorly designed app in my opinion. Will personally NOT use uber due to the extremely bad experience in the past.

  • If you use the referral link for Uber (which is inserts a promo code from the referrer on the signup page), can you then still use a first-ride promo code from OzB?

    • +1

I think.not. I recently tried and wasted on $5 referral credit instead of using the stgeorge25 code for $25 off first ride.

      • Sorry to hear that, and thanks for the advice!

  • I entered UBERPAYPAL but only got $5 which is expired on 2nd June (not 30th), then I cannot remove or update it any further. Anyone has this same issue?
