I was searching around for a decent quality Bluetooth portable speaker. As usual YouTube was my source for comparisons. I stumbled across this deal on Amazon and thought that I might share this if anyone is interested.

The Riva S is selling on eBay at the moment for approx AUD$330.00 + postage from the US - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Riva-S-Premium-Wireless-Bluetooth…

Here are a couple of the comparisons I watched/listened:

RIVA S vs Bose Soundlink Mini - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlMuBpGrMDU

RIVA S vs Audio Pro Addon T3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQv4hUl1nmM

Manufacturers Site for specs etc: http://rivaaudio.com/riva-s/ (please note that the manufacturer site does not post to Australia)

Powered by a 19V DC adapter and is 100 - 240V compatible. The Riva site states that the Riva S comes supplied with US, EU, UK and Asia plugs…so an adapter to AUS plugs will most likely be required. (Edit - AUS compatible plug was included).

Manufacturer’s warranty can be requested from Amazon customer service or from Riva.com (http://support.rivaaudio.com/customer/en/portal/topics/62037…)

Should be about $131 plus $27 for delivery if you're using 28Degrees/Citibank Plus etc.

    • The Amazon calculation before I changed my payment currency to AUD$. I believe it was $1.73 on the conversion. I used the 28 degrees MC to pay in US$. So I cant tell exactly.

    • It must have been late…err…the moon was in Sagittarius….err…I lost my rose tinted dislexia glasses!! The conversion was AUD$1 to US$1.37 NOT AUD$1 to US$1.73. Thanks for the post.

    Nice deal.
The Riva S undoubtedly sounds better than the Bose but it's nearly double the size of it after all. The point of a portable bluetooth speaker is that it's portable because it's small. Still, i think it's not too big and small enough to carry around or put on a shelf somewhere.
In any case given the choices available, anyone that goes out to buy a Bose or UE Boom now is wasting their money.

    • Thanks bangomango. Given that I was originally considering the Audio Pro Addon T3 the Riva S sits nicely between the Bose and the T3 in size. IMO the sound quality from the sound check (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQv4hUl1nmM) appears to rival that of the T3. Ultimately the price point was the tipping point with the Bose being around the US$199 and the T3 around US$249.

Seconds, currently showing as 'limited stock' at $199 minus the %20 coupon CTOYS20.
They don't explain what 'seconds' may mean.

      • I ordered five of them and they've arrived - perfect, never opened, just scuffed boxes and some sticky glue on the box. Perfect condition

  • I see the Riva S is still showing at USD 99 but it doesn't look like it ships to Australia. Does anyone know how to get shipping for the USD 20.55 mentioned in original post?
