so cheap i think the filo president himself subsidies the airlines..

Some Asian destinations are just as cheap.
I checked SYD-BKK, SYD-SIN and SYD-SGN and all came in just over 500 return.
BUT, layovers are lengthy… ~15 hours.

Interesting that these prices are approx 100-150 less than just going to Manila return!!

can the layover become a stopover in Manila ? free or for a fee ?

Great pricing! Is anyone able to find some cheap flights on Philippine Airlines from Melbourne to Fukuoka by any chance? I'm struggling by other people may have some better luck.

  • Travelled with these guys over Christmas, no inflight entertainment on either flight was a bit shit. All considered it definitely feels like a budget airline experience, and I wouldn't be in a hurry to use them again.

  • probably an ok airline these days, but FYI:

  • Nice price but the stop over time kills it for me. It's about an extra day return + food expense. Probably fine for others but you have to factor in annual leave and time spent at the airport etc.

  • Epic for Darwin, only 2 hour layover max.

    Thanks!

    • Bit longer on the way back however. Singapore airlines were about the same.

FYI Manila airport is awful. When I went to the States a few years back I flew with them and had like a 10 hour layover. I went to a nearby mall which was far more interesting that the airport.

  • May not be accurate but it is said that
Phillipines Airline Ltd (PAL) stands for Plane Always Late!

  • Last time we flew with them received a miniature packet of peanuts and a small bottle water, they had no booze or soft drinks on board, Manila airport really a shambles, shocking and so disorganised, sat in hot plane on tarmac for about half hour before take off to Davao, only reason was tickets were paid for by rich mate and only way to get there to his private island from HK easily.

  • For anyone wanting to go to Japan you can get cheap as flights from HK. I booked mine for about $250 return just over a month ago.

  • Newbie traveller here, can someone explain to me how the layover flight works? i did some googling but was still unsure. Does my luggage gets automatically passed on to the second leg of the flight? And also will i need to check out and in from the customs again or i can stay inside the checked in boarding gate area? Many Thanks
