Was over $30. Thanks. Bought one.

I suspect you will regret it after learning that it is 2.1A across all ports.

      • +1

Still handy for travel. 8 hours sleep is enough to charge two iPhones and two iPods.

        • +3

The Tronsmart/Blitzwolf chargers that are always on sale here are a much better option

        • @dbun1: How much?

        • @sween64:

The ones with Quick Charge are usually around $25-30.

The normal ones are around $15-$20 if you aren't fussed with QC.

Very reliable too. I've had some for years now.

        • @dbun1: and they're 4 port with travel Adaptors?

        • +4

          @sween64:

          4 port without travel adapters.
Travel adapters are dirt cheap on eBay, so a non issue IMO.

The main thing is the actual charging unit is better quality and vastly superior to this.

I basically use the charger at home for all my devices and then pair it with an adapter for travel. I travel a lot for work and this had been the best setup by far.

The problem with bulky chargers like this is sometimes you can't plug it in as some hotels have odd power point locations, and even if they are located above a desk or somewhere that looks "normal", there isn't enough clearance to accomodate the length of the charger.

Something like the BlitzWolf or Tronsmart is better in that you can plug the cable in wherever the power point is and then sit the actual charger somewhere convinient. E.g the bed side table where the power point is located behind and near the floor.

I'm a bit sceptical that you can get 2.1 amps out of each USB socket simultaneously as this would be 8.4 amps. I stand to be corrected but I suspect it is not beyond the pail to expect a total of 2.1 amps total but 8 amps and I will be buying five.

    • +6

      no way it's 8.4A total.

If more than one device is connected the 2.1A will be shared on the ports.

    • From the specs:

      Max Electric Current (amps)
      2.1

      You are right.

  • QC2 ??

    • No. It would say it somewhere and they usually have the QC logo visible.

  • +1

Comsol website says max 2.1 amps out of the device, so yes, if you only used 1 port, it would give 2.1 amps.

More than 1 device plugged in means less for each.

    • Each USB port offers up to 2.1A to fast charge your iPad
    • Input: AC100V to 240V~50/60Hz 0.3A
    • Output 1 to 4: DC5V 2.1A (Max)
    Total Output: DC5V 2.1A (Max)

Those marketing gurus at it again trying to mislead consumers.

Just like saying a sale is "up to 50% off everything".

    • Input AC100V with 0.3A = 30W.
      Output total 5v with 2.1A = 10.5W

      Efficiency = 10.5/30 = 35%

      • +1

No way the efficiency is that bad, the unit would overheat, even junk SMPSes are better than that. More likely the 0.3A is just made up to be in the safe side.

    • Total Output: DC5V 2.1A (Max)

Op or moderator this information needs to go in the description!

This looks like very similar casing to a Korjo one I bought from Myer last year, in which case, be aware it has a ridiculously bright blue indicator light that comes out of the USB ports. Therefore it's incredibly difficult to block the light from lighting up an entire darkened room.

    • +1

      Agreed.

I have a "Jackson" branded one and have the same issue. They should make a little switch to turn off the LED.

      • +2

alternately can use as a midnight blue light table lamp

        • It's the gift that keeps on giving!

        • +1

Yep, look at the positives. 4 port travel changer with bonus night light (ᵔᴥᵔ)

    • -1

      You could unplug it…

    • +1

I tried blocking it first with permanent marker then electrical tape. I think the electrical tape contributed to overheating causing a high pitched him. I wonder how hard it is to disconnect them.

      • +2

I used to have a problem with a phone dock being too bright. Blu tack seemed to work fine.

        • Blu tack over all the ports would kinda defeat the purpose of the charger i would think.

    • yeah I had one of thoses Korjo ones from Bunnings - blue light was extremely annoying
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/korjo-4-port-usb-travel-adaptor-…

Wanted to get a brand name one in the vain hope it might mean better quality than the cheaper ebay ones (that also looked very similar …).

Having more than one phone charging made the casing get really hot. One night I had 3 phones charging and there was a loud pop, a very bad burning plastic smell and the whole thing was fried. I still had receipt (I kind of knew this was going to happen I guess) and Bunnings refunded 8 months later.

It survived long enough to work on the USA trip I mainly bought it for least.

The white design is ultra compact, ideal for taking travelling.

    Is the black design bulkier?

    • Sounds more like racist LOL.

    • +3

      Is the black design bulkier?

      No, but it is longer.

    • Yeah, but some are willing to pay extra for that.

  • +2

Looks the same as the Korjo and KMS 4-port USB charger. If so, it's 2.1A across all ports, has an annoyingly bright blue LED, and may have audible coil whine. Stay away!

    • Oh I get the whine. Is it dangerous?

      • +2

        Nah just super annoying.

  • So is this a better brand than Korjo?

  • +1

I wouldn't buy one. I had the 2 port version. After using it for about 6 months, it started making funny noise (the LED started flashing). Then, after 10 months, it broke.

    • Then neg the deal mate. Good reason to.

      • +2

One bad one is reason to neg the deal? No. But the warning in the comments is appropriate.

        • Bought it initially coz I thought it is better than feeBay el cheapo ones. It looks nice on the outside (seems to be good quality), but it isn't good quality in terms of reliability and output current.

This one has the same issue specs wise. It is 2.1A for 4 ports. Essentially, it output less max current than the 12W Apple charger (2.4A) and the Apple charger is only sufficient for an iPad (tablet). Therefore, if you are charging a tablet, it is essentially a 1 port charger. You might be able to use 2 ports to charge 2 phones. 4 ports at 500mA each, a very slow charger.

If you actually measured the current from the charger to the device, you will find that Apple charger won't send maximum current to some of the Android tablets. So, just because the charger is rated 2.1A or 2.4A, it doesn't mean all your devices will be able to benefit from that (there can be a compatibility issue).

        • @netsurfer:

Yes 2.1A split over 4 ports makes the added ports less useful. These are better reasons to neg the deal than one person getting one that was faulty. I want to see the description reflect the fact that that 2.1A is split at least.

    Bought 2 thanks OP :)

Bought one of these a while ago, during the Dicksmith Liquidation sale, a Korjo branded one, but basically the same thing, for my overseas trip. Honestly, would not recommend. It was "okay" during the first trip, when using only one port, it charged my Galaxy S6 overnight, however when using two ports the charging considerately slowed.

Used it about 9 months later for a second overseas trip and it was rubbish, using only one port, I was getting an avg of about 40-50% charge on my S6 overnight (6-7hrs), not mention any time the phone was being used while connected, was actually depleting the battery.

If all you're really after is a cheap one time use travel adapter, then by all means, should do the job fine (assuming you use just 1-2 ports), but if you're looking for something more long term, then don't waste your money.

  • Might try one. Bought one off ebay but looks like 2 ports have burnt out so only using 2 ports. At least if this does the same, I should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

  • This design overheats, I killed two and gave up.

    I've owned one of these …. It's a terrible charger….

Where to a start….the build quality is bad, the sockets do not fit in the charger securely. The charger has a super bright blue led which makes it totally unsuitable for use in a bedroom. The total output of the entire charger is 2.1 amps shared over each port. As others have reported, individual sockets will stop working over time. The power output is very 'noisy' meaning you'll get infuriatingly jumpy touchscreen performance whilst charging your device and using it.

You'd be far better off getting a Blitzwolf 40watt Charger from one of the China sites for not much more.

Of course buying from officeworks means there is little risk, easily refunded.

    • Not sure why the neg….these are cheap and nasty

      • I'm not sure either. I certainly wouldn't be travelling overseas with this being my only charger.

  • any recommendation within Tronsmart/Blitzwolf? preference four port QC (or similar) has international pug swap options?

    • +1

Most of the multi port chargers connect via a figure 8 cord (which is far more convenient than plugging a brick straight into the wall IMHO).

When travelling OS I either take a figure 8 cord fitting with the region I'm going, or an AU figure 8 cord with a converter plug.

Orico seems to be the best value for a known brand with QC charging (albeit 2.0).

I had one of these on a trip last year. It got really hot when charging only two devices, and then it died completely. Don't waste your money.

    • It's cheap for a reason . I returned mine as it was faulty after the charger heating up furiously close to fire damage or damaging devices . Also, the plastic clip on the multi plugs can be easily damaged.

  • I've got a Kensington one of these, looks exactly the same, but black. Paid $15, can't remember where.

  • +1

I have just researched these. I picked it up at full price and put it down because of the 2.4 amp limit. Even at $15 I would still put it down. If I wanted to buy one today I would buy The click 5 Port charger at bunnings for $28 - which I did end up buying as I needed one urgently. This has 7.0 amps but also has 2 volt IQ ports. Basically similar specs to the Tronsmart which I also have, but you can buy it today.

It is not on the bunnings web site. It also has adapters for 4 countries
