      The circuit looks to be a 39 ohm resistor for regulation, and 3 leds in parallel. Assuming the LEDs drop 3V, that's 2V across the resistor (USB operates at 5V). I = V/R = 2 / 39 = 50mA (across 3 leds)

      Because they're in parallel, even if one led fails open circuit, the other two will still continue to work at increased brightness. They might overheat, but 25mA per LED isn't much current to begin with (for that type of LED), so it will probably be OK.

      If one of the LEDs fails short circuit, all the LEDs will go out. But the current will be limited by the resistor, so it shouldn't damage your USB device.

    Thanks but I won't order again from Gearbest until the headphones I bought in early November arrive.
    Most people here know about their unreliability but I though i'd raise the point again for any newcomers.

    Have previously recommended the USB touch light (us78c ea delivered, but have bought 2 for au$2) in OP's previous post.

    Dearer but may suit some better - flexible, touch switch on back, likely brighter light, won't short out with exposed circuit around components…

    What use are these?
    I have no idea what to use them for!
    And they sent me five.

    They seemed like a good idea. And were cheap.
    But now they are here, I don't know how I can get any use from them.

    Any ideas?

      I put one on my keychain. maybe handy one day.
      spare usb extension lead? use one as a flex light in your car.
      plug one in to a wall usb charger as a night light.
      plug in to the usb in the back of your tv as a back light
      .
