not my favourite but good enough for remotes.

How long do they last in remotes?

My experience is that with low draw devices like remotes and smoke detectors, alkalines are a better choice.

    • You're right, alkaline rechargeable far outperforms NiMH but I haven't come across any. I normally steer clear of non-rechargeables.
As with all my rechargeables, I cycle them through the slow charger once they're through and replace with spares from my stockpile. So cheap ones work fine by me.

      • where do you get your alkaline rechargeables from?

          I don't :( I did say I haven't come across any.

    • I use LSD NiMh for all my remotes, and other than a Logitech one, haven't had any problems. The Logitech one couldn't handle them, said "flat" within a month, even though there was still plenty of energy in the batteries.

One important advantage: when NiMh batteries go flat, they don't melt down and damage the remote. Ever.

I charge them once a year, usually during Christmas holidays. On a few occasions when charging, some of my AAA eneloops have come up as low capacity, so I have to refresh them with a few charge/discharge cycles. Haven't seen this with other brands of LSD NiMh.

      • Ni cells are usually 1.2v fully charged, alkalines 1.5v. This can make a massive performance difference depending on the particular device requirements. Some devices won't function at all with Ni cells.

        • I know, but almost all remotes are fine with them. Performance isn't an issue for me, they still work from the farthest corner of the room. This is across 3xTVs, 3xDVD players, 3xSTBs, and assorted stereos.

I have had issues with wall clocks though. Some are fine, others aren't, and you can't tell before you buy them. I've bought replacement clock modules and not had success with those either. Also looking for a new kitchen scale, the $8 one I bought from China doesn't like batteries below 1.25V. But I have an older scale bought locally for $20 that is fine with NiMh batteries.

I am also considering NiZn batteries, next time I do an Amazon or Hobbyking order I'll probably order some and a charger. 1.65V per cell, same as Energizer Lithium AA batteries.

Not good enough for remotes? Do you want rechargables with diamante on them? Eneloop masterrace.

It is true though, rechargables don't last as long in a remote.

Are these LSD? The Aldi 4 pack rechargables for $5.99 are LSD.

Kogan's website does not seem to indicate that these are LSD type batteries, and the 500 cycle mentioned is a bit on the low side (but perhaps realistic if similar batteries state 1000 cycles but only achieve half as much before storage capacity is noticeably reduced)

According to batterystuff website 'NiMH batteries self discharge about 1% per day so if used in a low energy consummation or stand-by device the battery will only last about 90 days before requiring recharge.'. Other sites in the past I've gone to suggest 10% per month so either way, in items such as remotes etc (as mentioned by Scab in the first comment) probably not the best battery to use.

For double the price you can get 8 LSD from IKEA if your fortunate enough to live near a store and the Ikea batteries are made in Japan.

For the love of environment, buy rechargable batteries which are better and last longer. (e.g. Eneloop and IKEA)

Resources put on manufacturing inferior products like this had been great and polluting the environment in the long run.

    • Haven't disposed a single rechargeable since i got my first batch over 10 years ago and they weren't either brands. At 500 cycles I suppose they will last a good few decades if I recharge them thrice a year average.

  • Whoever buy this will regret. I got burn twice buying kogan brands. Never again. Just avoid.

    • I'm a big fan of their batteries. Their C shape rechargeables outlast any other brand ive tried in my Tradie Radio. Recharge once a week also.

If these AAA are anything like the AA batteries then avoid.

Two months ago I tested 2 kogan AA rechargables with a LiitoKala Engineer LH-500 charger (using the NOR test & charged at 1000mA)- absolute shit - they claim to be 2500mAh
    1 - 780mAh @ 1.4v
    2- 717mAh @ 1.4v

I originally got the kogan batteries free with a voucher and used them in Wii controllers. they kept going flat after a few weeks. bought Aldi LSD s and haven't looked back. the Kogan batteries have been chucked. always have been crap.

    Don't waste your money.

buy Aldi LSDs or the Ikea Ladda
