  • I have a LaCross charger and a fairly generic 18650 charger - for those who have one, would this be a worthwhile purchase?

    • It depends on what you are after. La Crosse for example has discharge function. Do you need it? There are a few other differences between them. They are both good; La Crosse and Nitecore, but again you need to see what both offer and decide whether you need it or not.

I would stay away from a generic charger. These batteries are not simply charge and forget. If your charger stuffs up batteries you could pay dearly for that. There are some things in life that are worth spending more on, and a lot safer too.

  • Legear Australia have 30% off and have a similar charger Fenix brand for similar price au stock

    • Link?

    • There are only two Fenix chargers they sell:
      http://www.legear.com.au/?rf=kw&kw=fenix+charger

The smaller one is currently $21.95 plus shipping, and only does Li-ion batteries. Legear have three bricks-and-mortar stores, so you could pick up and save the shipping costs, but it isn't close to a Nitecore D4 in features or capability.

The larger charger is currently $46.95 plus shipping, and while it is similar to the Nitecore D4, it's more expensive.

Can't see any mention of 30% off, both of the above chargers claim to be more than 50% off. I tried adding the larger charger to the cart, didn't get any cheaper. Got more expensive, the above prices are apparently ex-GST.

If you know of a coupon code for an extra 30% off, that brings the larger charger down to $36 - comparable price only if you can pick up. Stores in Canberra, Melbourne, Gold Coast, otherwise $15 shipping. But you can't order just one charger, says "You must order minimum of $49.00.", and that's before shipping costs are added.

      • Sorry my bad mistake it's 30% off $300 and 20% off $200 and 10% off $100

    • Fenix make good lights, but their chargers are generally not so good.

  • I have one of these D4 purchased in a previous deal. Have been very happy with it but have found an annoying problem that I only discovered recently after buying a number of "C" sized batteries. The design of the unit means you can only charge one C battery at a time. They are too big for the outer slots and can't have 2 C Batteries in the middle slots. Very annoying

  • I purchased one in the previous deal and absolutely love it. Highly recommended!

  • I already bought a charger from Ikea, should I still get this?

    • yes. i bought a second, cause thats low price.

  • I have one of these D4 from nitecore and they are great chargers. The price is so low i got another as spare. Its really worth it, will charge pretty much every cylindrical rechargeable battery.

  • I am contemplating D4 with La Crosse BC1000

The only things I could find so far in the comparison was that
B1000 has discharge function and does only take AA & AAA

    and
D4 can take heaps more mA and 1 D size battery in the charge slot

Are there any other major differences
I just want a decent charger which I can use for all possible batteries
Currently have eneloops and fenix 18500

  • Has anyone had their orders processed yet? I was expecting a delay, but still no progress even though my other order has been processed and sent?

    • Mine arrived about a week ago, have you got yours yet?

    • Mine arrived at the parcel locker on Tuesday. Did my first charge last night. It works.

  • Merged from Nitecore D4 Smart LCD Battery Charger - USD $17.99 (~AUD $23.85 Including Delivery) @ Zapals

Just received an email from Zapals. Great price for the Nitecore D4 charger.

Mod: Deal did not include shipping, price including shipping ($28.78 or $31.63) is a duplicate, therefore merged with existing deal post.

Paid the same a couple months ago give or take a $.

      Definitely a good reliable charger.

Don't use the included dodgy AU converter, get yourself another figure 8 power cable with an AU plug on it.

      • Do you know where I can get one of those AU cables from? I'm not even sure what those cables are called

EDIT: Never mind, they're actually called figure 8 cables lol I'm stupid :/

          https://www.jaycar.com.au/2pin-mains-plug-to-iec-c7-female-1…
$5.95 if you have a Jaycar nearby

Just to elaborate: I bought a smart charger from China, they threw in the Australian adaptor but it's dodgy so bought this cable from Jaycar, fits perfectly, works well. I don't know if there are cheaper options out there, Jaycar was just convenient for me. And it's SAA approved which I assume means it's good.

    • Just asking cause I don't know - is this a dumb charger or a smart charger?

      • Smart charger. The downside might be no AU power cord …..In which case check if banggood or gearbrst etc have with AU cord even if a few dollars more …… Hate paying $4 for au cords as extra.

        • Banggood let you select "AU plug" option, but they ship it with a US plug and a US-AU adaptor. Suspect that will be the same with all Chinese websites, because they would have to open the box to swap out the cord - too much labour for their slim selling margins.

The charger's box also has a scratch-it type security sticker that lets you check on the Nitecore website if it is genuine (there have been counterfeits), so opening the box would mean breaking that sticker, and make customers wonder if it really is genuine.

      • Smart, but relatively slow.

      • It is a smart charger, but if you are charging four batteries, it is a bit slow compared to most other smart chargers. For two batteries it is fast.

Most smart chargers charge a battery from flat in 3-4 hours, this charger takes 7-8 hours for four batteries. It does charge in 3-4 hours if only charging two batteries, and you put them into particular slots (it has two charging channels, slots 1-4 and 2-3. Putting two batteries into the same channel, e.g. slots 1 and 4, means each gets half the current, with longer charging times as a result).

In my opinion, this is one of the best chargers for under $50. It lacks a few features compared to the more expensive chargers (refresh, cycle and discharge modes), and doesn't directly let you know if your batteries are starting to die from reduced capacity. However it does tell you how long the charge cycle took, so with a bit of maths you can work out how much power was pushed into the battery, and from that you can work out how healthy your batteries are.

Also, if using this charger to charge AAA batteries, be careful. If you are charging only 1-3 batteries, one or more could be charged at 750mA depending on which slots they are in. 750mA is too high a charging current for AAA batteries, you won't get many charge cycles out of your batteries if you charge them at this rate. Fortunately the display shows the charging current, so cycle through the batteries and check the charging current for each battery. If any are at 750mA, long-press (2 seconds) the "mode" button to select low-current mode for that battery. Low current mode is 300mA, and the display will also say "Low" when you select that battery.

    • Top deal, grabbing one, thanks poster :-)

      • Were you able to obtain it for US $17.99 / AU $23.85 delivered, or did you also have to pay delivery on top? Just trying to determine if free shipping was previously an option when this was first posted

        Thanks

          Grand Total AU$28.78

$4.93 extra, its "high value" so must be signed for, hence extra charge

          Cheers

    • I have one of these. My only criticism is that for AAA batteries, you have to "balance" the battery inside the slot, as it doesn't recognise them if you just place the battery flat into the slot. It's a bit fiddly. AA batteries no problem though.

    • +1

I'm showing $28.78 after $4.93 shipping. Am I missing something?

    • +1

Regular non tracking (Temporary unavailabe for high value order)
      Australia Post - (7-15 business days) AU$4.93

So price including delivery is $31.63 for me.

Anyone else getting the same problem?

    • Been very happy with my i4 for the last few years which I got for the same price from an OZB listing a few years ago.

I'd jump on this D4 if the i4 didn't still serve me so well. The display whilst not essential does offer some stats I would like to know - such as mAh capacity.

    • Price come out 32$

      • $23.85 for me.😊

        • Yes, 23$US

          • @lnq: @nocure:

You are missing shipping, go to checkout.

            Checkout: Subtotal AU$23.85
Shipping & Handling (Australia Post - Air Parcel (5-8 business days)) AU$7.78
            Grand Total AU$31.63

The deal lists $23.85 including shipping, unsure if that's a mistake or free shipping was there but gone now. Assumed the later, marked expired.

Edit: Deal did not include shipping upon posting, therefore a duplicate of previous deal. Thread merged.

@lnq Please use the report button in the future for expired deals/issue with deal, not negative vote.

    • I have the i4 at home and it is a great charger for my eneloops (AA and AAA) aswell as the occasional 14500 / 18650 that i throw in there

    • I happened to find a warehouse in VIC called Lanplus, their website looks dodgy with no option for online payments so I decided to call and tried to arrange a pick up, turns out they do accept pick ups during business hours and provide proper tax Invoice + RTB warranty. Ended up paying around $38 after mentioning that I'd like to pick up. can't remember the exact amount but definitely less than their advertised price. If anyone's interested in local stock with some sort of warranty this might be the place.
