Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 over Ear Headphones $177.30 Free Shipping @ PB Tech

510

Plantronics backbeat pro 2 headphones - the best deal I've seen for quality headphones.

It says weekend deal so could finish tonight I'm unsure though.

Edit:Ok did some searching - PB technologies is a part of cellnet group nz which is an authorized plantronics reseller. Should have full manufacturer warranty.

Edit: So far poor communication and hasn't been shipped yet even though mine should have been first.

    Pricebeat at officeworks

    • Might be difficult seems like a new zealand based company.

      • Just try it. Who knows you are lucky. The website is. Com. Au

        • I should have thought about it before I bought. Aus warranty even better.

    • Looking on the OW site, they sell the first model, not this one.

      • +1

They do. They sell 2 variants of the pro 2 one has NFC capabilities which is $50 more. Otherwise, the normal one is going for &299.

        • +1

I couldn't find it under the "on ear headphones" section - must be elsewhere.

EDIT: they're under "over ear headphones", not under "noise-cancelling headphones".

    • +1

Price match success, $168 same day delivery… Noice.

      • Can you do a price match with OW if they don't have it in stock at your local store?

If so, how do I go about this? THanks.

        • +1

These are only avail online, so you can go in store they will go through the order and check the website for you to clear it all..

          OR

I did it over the phone, if you go to OW website the low price gaurantee section at the bottom will have the phone no. Call it explain the deal and have your CC ready.

        • @shizmo: tried phoning in and no luck. Was told different warranty. Guess is just not my luck

        • +1

@Xiaoyer: they have caught on with the 100's of orders comming from OZB

        • @Stahh:

lol yeah I was also told the warranty is different. Had to get in quick I guess! $180 is still a great deal though, can't complain.

        • @Xiaoyer: Soz peeps, my colleague also tried no luck, guess I was lucky early one :)

      • The only thing is OW dont really deserve the business.

    • I just tried to Price Beat at Officeworks Russell St, Melbourne - Didn't work, reason: They discovered PB-Tech is New Zealand based..

This is the most important bit:

    Weight
    0.64 lbs / 289 grams

    • Yeah the older model were like 350g

      • I had the first gen and sold it. Too big for my small cute head.

        • So these look a lot smaller are you grabbing a pair?
Edit: How was the noise cancelling on the old pair?

        • +1

          @Soccerstar:
It's not bad - it's not as good as Bose, but better than most of the other ANC headphones I've tried. As Dragonindespair said though, the Gen 1's were on the chunky side - so much so that I won't take them on the train, but the sound is excellent and the pairing has been rock-solid.

        • +1

          @cletus75:

it's not as good as Bose

Bose isn't as nearly good as Sony hear.on NC wireless sound-wise, with similar ANC. I got them for $250 from an earlier deal and they're great at that price point. These a a great deal though. My point is…skip the Bose.

        • @elektron:
I've heard that a few times now - must go try a pair (when next on sale!). Thanks.

        • @cletus75: Or you could just get that Plantronics at this price.

EDIT: Scratch that - just noticed that the deal has expired.

Been looking around for headphones for some time. Just ordered so looking forward to receive them. Shipping was free. I paid 1.5% surcharge for paypal. All good.

    • Me too I was searching for a while. I paid paypal too so shouldn't be any issues.

Edit: Half the price of equivalent bose headphones with great reviews.

How about a vote man you got the deal.

      • +1

FYI asking for votes is against Ozb rules.

        • +1

My bad I don't know how to delete it I just figured if you took up the deal you should vote.
A vote could be positive or negative.

        • @Soccerstar: Oh I don't disagree haha, just saw a post had to be deleted the other day as the guy was asking for votes. Guess admin will fix it if they see

  • Wireless Range
Stream music up to 100 meters (330 feet)

    Wat?

    • +1

Yep that's legit from what I've read Bluetooth class 1

      • +1

Wow, I've got the wife's old hand me down phone so had no idea new phones were capable of that.

Optus have the Huawei Mate offer which includes these headphones, might be time for me to enter the new era :)

        • +1

          Maybe because they aren't!

So Bluetooth will still have problems broadcasting 2 inches through your jeans pocket.

        • @Diji1:
          Cheers mate, you're spot on.

The headphones on the Optus deal are the lower model than these so grabbed the headphones from this offer.

      • Both devices will need to be Class 1 to get the full range. Most phones and computers will be Class 2 (10m) so you'll have to buy a new bluetooth dongle

  • +1

You won't get that extended range from a phone, range will be the usual 10m or so. The headphones I believe come with a USB dongle for a PC which gives it that range but only from the device it's plugged into. Useful for some I guess

    • You will get much more than 10 meters. I have the first one and easily get 20m without issues

    • On my gen 1 pair, before I sold it, the range was crazy long. I'm quite sure the range is correct regardless of device.
The USB Dongle for PC I suspect is to allow some sort of high bit streaming.

I sold it because it was tight on my noggin, wondering if this one is comfortabler.

    • You may get more than 10m in open space but it's all about bluetooth power classes and I think all phones are class 2 (10m) or class 3 (1m). They just don't have the electrical power for much more than that. Laptops and PCs do not have the same power issues and can obviously drive USB dongles etc.

Anyway, not arguing, I struggle to get a solid bluetooth connection from my pocket to my ear so I'll be glad when the next version (5?) of the BT standard comes along

      • But the headphones have a smaller battery than a phone and it's capable. Either way people have posted real world results.

        • It only needs to reach 100m in one direction…. The laptop with dongle reaches out the 100m, not the headphones reaching out 100m to the laptop

  • how is this one compare to sennheiser pxc 550?

    • +1

      Half the price.

      • More like one-third of the price.

  • Just price beat at officeworks for $168.44 in Brisbane. They just looked at the Australian website, didn't notice it was a NZ based. Great deal.

    • Nice one I can handle the $10 for not having to get off my ass.

    • Which brisbane store did you get the price beat? I checked onlone for stores near me on the north side as well as the city store and there are no stock

      • There is no stock in any stores. I went to the Milton store and ordered online through the counter. It should arrive tomorrow

        • Well I just went to the Virginia to try to get them to price match. I was told that non of the stores in Brisbane have stock so they can not order them in n they would not price match since there is not stock.

Looks like I'll just order from the OP.

        • @BlitzR: they can. They just won't. I've experienced these inconsistencies between stores. Some will do it and some won't. I had OW price beat a printer from computer alliance and it was online only on OW website. Store wouldn't do it and I phoned in and the order was put through.

    • Just tried at Milton. No go. Nz website. Please share receipt

    What's the difference:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/plantronics…

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/plantronics…

The one thays more expensive is Grey and comes with a case?

    • +1

I think the more expensive one includes the hard case and NFC. I was only able to price match the black one at OW.

  • +1

Anyone with a large head able to comment on the comfort of these headphones?

  • I got the backbeat sense (not the over-ear model) and I found the bass distorted for really LOW sounds (only some songs).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clEoHX-msSc

This mix specifically was where I first noticed it. Does this model fix that issue?

  • So it looks like these are 80% of the QC35, but at 60% of the price?

    • Can I ask why you are using the rather average but pricey QC35 as the benchmark?

      • By most reviews they are the best for noise cancelling but Sony seem to have caught up now.

        • The Bose used to have the best ANC but mediocre sound compared. Then MDR-100ABN (H.ear On NC Wireless) came out with similar ANC but much better sound. And now there's MDR-1000X that absolutely kills the QC35 in the ANC, the functionality and the sound, although it also costs a bit more.

        • But as he said, look up any review of a similar headset and they usually compare it to the QC35.

        • @stublu: Most of these are either old reviews, lazy journos, or confirmation research bias by the prospective consumer.

The ones that actually compare the QC35 to the MDR-1000x are unfavourable to the Bose 90% of the time. The other 10% call it a tie and are either deaf or Bose fanboys :-)

        • @elektron:
They also created the technology and were the reigning champions for a long time.

      • Purely based on the QC35 being very common and widely used as a comparison by users and reviewers alike.

        • -1

Exactly my point…doesn't make the best ANC wireless headphone though.

  • paid 239 at jb last year…

    • +1

      Any problems they worth it?

      • +1

They are well worth the price

  • Just tried at OW in Chadstone (vic) and the guy didn't want a bar of it, saying that because the warranty isn't identical they won't match at all.

Might try and give them a call and see if I have any luck that way.

  • I used to have these and the sound and build quality is fantastic especially at this price. Hands free call were good. Only downside is the weight of the unit.

  • Gone up to $220 now fun while it lasted. Hope this warranty thing doesn't bite me in the ass.

  • Just ordered at listed deal price.
    179 shipped by PayPal.

    Thanks OP !

  • Just an FYI -
    Received this email from site

"This is a quick courtesy email to inform you that you have ordered one or more product(s) that are not available from our Web Hub, and needs to be shipped from another branch and/or ordered in."

Not sure if that will add much delay.

    • Well as long as you got the price I guess a lot of people snapped them up

    • Yeh prob cause they only have stock from the supplier now

  • +2

Ok did some searching - PB technologies is a part of cellnet group nz which is an authorized plantronics reseller. Should have full manufacturer warranty.

  • Order Status: Awaiting Goods …. must be struggling for stock. still not shipped.

    • Got mine last friday - I did hassle them though because I figured I should be first. Very happy they are great - booklet says au/nz warranty is 2 years.

      • still not shipped… pretty annoyed, given most of their stores quote stock available.. gonna abuse tomorrow.

        • finally arrived. 11 days… pretty decent unit, if a little boomy on the bass.

        • @lethalmoney: Use an equalizer on your phone to tone it down they sound perfect on a proper amplifier.

  • For anyone that missed out on this deal- I'm unable to post this because the seller isn't top rated but these headphones are currently $183 delivered using the CATCH20 code on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plantronics-BackBeat-Pro-2-Blueto…

Don't forget to use cashrewards for some cashback as well :)

    • Thank you for posting this comment. Actually gutted I missed out on this deal. Really want these headphones for around the $170/80 mark. I followed your ebay link but these are sold out :-(
