Does it come with a tv at that price?

What on earth can this thing do to warrant its price?

    • Basically control everything you throw at it, including bluetooth devices (PS3/PS4) and remote home setups.

Its the crème de la crème of universal remotes.

    • I have no idea

I'm a long-time Harmony remote fan and this is my favourite one yet. Word of warning: if you're deciding between this and their last model, the Harmony Touch, then definitely go for this. The Harmony Touch was a pretty flawed design that had many useful buttons above the touch-screen, and when using it one-handed it was very easy to accidentally press things on the screen when reaching up to the top buttons. No issues with this one, which also has long-press actions for each button, effectively almost doubling the number of available actions.

    • Agree, I already own the Elite, and have it hooked into my home automation setup. Considering buying another for the bedroom.

The remote feels premium and very well made, unlike previous models of remotes I've owned.

  • $279?? for a universal remote??

    • It's not just any universal remote.

It comes with a Hub. The Hub can be connected to the Internet and utilize things like IFTTT. It can also schedule activities to turn off/on at certain times. Ie have your TV turn onto your favourite morning show before work.

It can also control smart home devices like Philips Hue lightbulbs.

This is a lot more powerful than the $15 universal remote from Aldi.

Sure it is $279 compared to $15!

I bought this yesterday from jb for $237.50.

Haggled down to $250 which was quite easy / bought $250 worth of JB giftcards from woolies with 5% off for $237.50 :)

Having issues connecting to the hub from outside the network, anyone else having this issue? This connectivity issue is causing me issues with Alexa and IFTTT. LIFX works flawlessly though :)

    • I was also looking at grabbing one of these for hooking up to Alexa…. I guess all I really need is the Hub…

Does the somewhat cheaper, Harmony Companion (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/audio-access…) come with the same Hub?

I have already the hub but want the remote. Splitsies? :)

Just got off the phone with logitech and apparently "out of home control" and "Alexa control" are US only features at the moment. Waiting for a callback from an engineer as I don't 100% believe that response…

        • I use Alexa to control mine all the time. Only works for starting/stopping activities, not individual actions though. So I can "Turn on Foxtel" and it turns on my TV/Amp/Foxtel Box and sets the correct inputs for everything. But you can't "pause" or "mute" or anything like that, at least not yet, to my knowledge.

Can confirm no issues controlling through the cloud either.

@S-Hart: thanks that's odd that mine is not working. By the way logitech have 2 skills. The one you don't have is used to pause and turn up volume.

        • @Mattg: Right on. I haven't tinkered with it since I set it up many months ago, so I'll have a look at the skill now and see if I need to grab the other one. :)

        • +2

@Mattg: Yeah confirmed, I added the second skill (which wasn't available when I first set it up) and now I can get it to pause/mute/change channel or whatever. Sweet.

        • @S-Hart: no worries, now to work out my issue. Just out of curiosity what brand/model router do you have?

        • @Mattg: I'm running a TP-Link Archer D9. I have the Harmony working fine, as well as IFTTT triggers for lights and such.

        • @S-Hart: I have the exact same modem! Thanks mate

        • @S-Hart: After 24 hours of tinkering, i have fixed it finally as logitech advised they couldn't support me! Strangely the issue was my router didn't have the DNS addresses configured so i updated these based off the TPG settings and harmony started working through the cloud along with Alexa and IFTTT. Thanks for your help

@Mattg: Awesome. I had fun tinkering with the new Skills on Alexa. By default when I told her to turn the volume up or down, she did 7 presses of the volume button. I'm one of those semi-OCD people that likes my amp to be in multiples of 5. So I was happy to find out I could instruct her to set the default to 10 presses, so now when she changes the volume for me it remains on multiples of 5. Hooray! :)

        Yes.

    • Haggled down to $250 which was quite easy

Any chance you could take a photo of your receipt? I'd like to try my luck too.

No worries can do it when I get home from work tonight

        • All good, I walked into JB this afternoon and said a mate picked one up for $250 and he said he'd be happy to match the price. Thanks!

  • According to Logitech site - A RRP of $549.95 !? haha, as if.

Be nice if only it ran for months on AA batteries instead of relying on charging dock to keep topped up.

    NB: It's $269 at GoodGuys

Love this device with my Alexa.

    • I cannot for the life of me get it to work with Alexa. Skill is linked and I can see the activities but keep getting the response "your device could not be reached". Are you able to access the hub when not at home? According to logitech both these features are related in the US only at this stage?

      • Well my alexa thinks it is in American except for the time zone perhaps that's why. Do you have yours set as UK or Australia?

Have u enabled the harmony skill (there are two and I have both enabled) and searched for devices thru the smart home section of the alexa app?

You can only do the activities thru alexa using "turn on activity name" and for commands you need to use "tell harmony to pause"

I can access the hub when I am not at home thru the harmony cloud.

        • My time zone is set to Australia, my device location is set to US. I have both skills enabled and can successfully see my activities in Alexa. Just firing off the commands results in "your harmony device did not respond" I also cannot access my harmony through the cloud and only through the same network.

        • @Mattg:

Strange, call the Logitech helpline… and go through to harmony support, they are super helpful. 1800 025 544

On the way home from picking up the kids from school today I picked up a 5th gen 40" Samsung TV from the nature strip. It works. And paired with the Samsung replacement remote I got from everbuying for us$2.35 delivered

  • is it possible to just buy the infra red hub and app without needing the remote? seems like the app can do most things

    • Harmony smart control has basic remote no touch screen with hub.

    • App disadvantages:
      - slow startup - it does sync data with the hub on startup
      - you have few screens inside the app to scroll to reach some buttons
