  • FYI doesn't look like you can buy using cash

    • +5

Most online commerce sites don't accept cash :)

However in this case it seems you must redeem QFF Points.

  • 51849 points for Bose QC35 Wireless Headphones…Is that a good buy? Or would I find better offers?

    • -5

      it's about $399 if you 34,566=$266.16 (57610-23,044 = $266.16)

      • +1

        Exactly. What?

      • +1

Sorry James, but i dont understand.
Also, is QC35 available at $399?
The last i saw in JB Hi Fi, it was going for $499

        • If you look at the equivalent gift card pricing, 15000 points = roughly $100. The exact value may vary depending on what you're purchasing.

        • +2

          @hcca:

Using Woolworths egift cards $25 = 4050 points after 10%. The head phones are valued $320.0, which is better than the $339.2 from the previous the Microsoft store plus Amex deal.

Could someone confirm my calculations are right, my finger is on the trigger atm.

I'm not tiered on my FF so is this a wise way of using it?

        • @raging: You calculation sounds about right. I bought it!!! :)

        • @roaddoug:
          Just ordered mine :)

        • @raging: Did you use all your points in buying it or the minimum and paid the rest?

          Thanks

        • @vietnamazing:

I just used all my points as i hve ample left. I think using the pay option actually ends up being better value based on my calculation. Please do your own calculation to be sure.

  • +11

I can finally get that toaster I've been saving points for over the last 5 years. Today is a good day.

  • +1

They end their Sennheiser HPs sales early, ie PXC550 & M2 etc. It was said to by Jan 31. I had enough points, but on 29th, the points req all gone up!
Even this 10% is not any lower

    • Same with me. I was all ready to get some headphones on the weekend but unfortunately the sale ended and then when it came back on Monday they were not reduced by much. Hopefully they will have a similar sale again in the near future.

  • +1

Damn if only i knew about this yesterday! I could've saved 10% donations!!

  • +1

    isn't flight upgrades better value?

    • +2

depends if you value a couple of hours at the pointy end higher than owning an item for XX amount of months/years.

      • +3

14 hour flight to the US in an economy seat with a screaming child beside you and you'll be ready to give up any possessions in exchange for Business Class.

        • +3

You could be using QC35s to drown out your sorrows.

Anyway I rate QF miles really low because of availability. It is virtually impossible to book 2+ Business class tickets even at T-300+ days unless you have status with them.

Compared to asiamiles/KF where availability is there for the general masses.

Everyone argues for upgrades > giftcards/items which is true in most cases except for QF with no status. Then you would never be able to use your points. Better off selling it for cash.

  • Is QA points expired?

    • -1

No they never expire as long as you earn or use points once every 18 months.

      • +7

        soo… they do expire then?

        • +10

That's right, they don't expire, until they expire.

        • Slow day?

        • Lol I think he worded it vaguely. He was saying as long as you earn or spend at least a single point to a balance of points, at least once every 18 months, then you can carry the balance indefinitely.

Eg: doesn't matter if you have 5 points or 100,000 points. Just earn our spend 1 point every 18 months and the whole balance won't expire.

  • Thanks, just bought $500 worth of fuel

    • did you get the WISH giftcards? they are redeemable at caltex petrol station

      • I assume you are talking about the Woolworths WISH eGift Card as opposed to the Woolworths WISH Gift Card, as it is ~ 4% cheaper?

…or go for the Caltex Woolworths eCard for petrol, which is also cheaper?

Is there any issues with going for the eCard / eGift over the physical card, besides the following conditions?

        • Gift Cards are currently not redeemable at BIG W online or BIG W vision online
        • Gift Cards are not redeemable in all CALTEX WOOLWORTHS fuel outlets; go to everydaygiftcards.com.au to view a list of participating stores
        • eGift Cards are currently not redeemable at Home Timber and Hardware
        • all well and good but they've raised the points on these GC by 10% from November last yr!

        • @b00tyman: ah well, they didn't cost me anything, so no great loss :-)'

        • @tomski182:

Not a loss imo, "Gift Cards are not redeemable in all CALTEX WOOLWORTHS fuel outlets"

I've never been rejected at any so far.

    • +1

Same I just bought $1000 of Wish eGift Cards!

  • Damn I just got some giftcards the other night. What are the chances they would refund the difference

    • +1

      nil

  • Try code BDAYFEB17 for 15% off

    • Doesnt work mate!

      • targeted to FEB bdays I guess, was worth a try

        • I have a Feb bday, but it doesn't work for me either sadly.

        • @brih: guess its targeted just to me then lol

        • @RogueWolf:

Birthday promo codes does not work with Gift Cards.

        • @pandadude: just posting see if it works on any item

    • That doesnt work for gift cards

  • Thanks purchased a lonely planet book

  • I guess this doesn't apply to flight redemptions.. I got excited for a sec.

  • Think I'll save for 20% usually towards eofy?

    • Includes gift cards?

      • Yea i remembered that was the case too if I'm not wrong

  • Only have 3000 points and I cannot find anything I could get.

    • try 25$ voucher

      • I had a look at the gift cards but the ones I could use start at 4700 points. Even with the 10% you still need 4230 points.

  • +1

For example, If someone has 18000 points which is equivalent to $100 Wish eGiftcard($0.0055/point)
With this offer we need to give away 16200 points for a $100 wish Gift card($0.0062/point)

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/276644
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/262971

Looking at the above posts, there are people willing to buy points at $0.10/point.
    Which means $18000 * 0.01 = $180

Am I missing something here ?

    • +1

You technically can not sell your points and any accounts found to be doing so can/may be cancelled.

      • didn't know this.. how are people selling it in Classifieds ?
Are they meant to be transferable within family (like same surname ?)

        • +1

System allows it but if it's a high amount and a real human see it they will investigate.

Kinda like downloading game of throans.

          :)

  • Is the Bose soundtouch 300 soundbar anygood?

  • I have a 165k points
