      • I was pretty anti DJI Care Refresh as it's ~$170 to get it, then $200 for the excess if you want a replacement. It's also only valid for 12 months, so it's really expensive for what it is.

I ended up getting it on mine 3 weeks after activation, after witnessing birds attacking my drone a few times and also the GPS lock being lost mid flight and having to fly it in ATTI mode very carefully. There's a few videos on youtube of bird strikes destroying the Mavic, and I would be absolutely devo if it happened to me.

In hindsight I should have looked at home and contents insurance instead.

    • +1

You may also be covered on home and contents insurance (mine is).

      • Yeah it's potentially much cheaper, and will also last longer than the 12 months that DJI allows for with their separate insurance.

I should have gone this route instead of getting DJI Care Refresh.

        • +1

Don't feel bad. I also purchased refresh before thinking about home insurance. At least I know I have both options for first 12 months. I think replacement by refresh will be easier and wont impact insurance premium. Also avoids paying excess for home insurance which for me is more than the $139 first replacement cost.

      • which insurer mate?

        • +1

Westpac. It depends on level of insurance cover though.

  • Note mavic sold out

  • Damn, yep, Mavic Out of stock even for pickup

  • Meanwhile that action cam is a phenomenal price, bringing it in line with the Xiaomi Yi 4K.
If I didn't already have the Xiaomi I'd be all over that.

    • Do you think it's a better buy than the GoPro HERO5 Black $439.20 for $80 more and minus the bonus accessories? Only 1 previous deal on OzBargain for this Nikon so wasn't sure how popular it would be.

  • Bought one.. how would i go bringing this back into the country after claiming TRS? Does the pooling of $900 limits only work for direct family members or is it anyone your travelling with? (going overseas with my GF next week)

    • +2

      hide in your pants

    • No problem, as long as you've used it whilst overseas, it's assumed to have depreciated by half. Same with laptops etc etc.

  • So I emailed to see if I could pick "mine" up….

    "Thank you for your purchase.

Unfortunately due to the unforeseen system error, we have over sold by far the model DJI - Mavic Pro Drone you have purchased.

If you would like to wait for the stock, the current estimate of arrival to our Sydney warehouse is approx 2 months.

Or please advise us if you would like us to cancel your order.

Sincere apology for this extended delay and any inconvenience caused.

Due to overwhelming amount of enquiries we are currently receiving, it may be best to reply to this email if you wish to make further enquiries."

    • In 2 months time the DJI - Mavic Pro II will be out. That will make the purchase almost worthless.

      • That's possible based on previous release schedules for the Phantom range, but given the global supply issues I suspect that scenario is highly unlikely for the Mavic. I've read a few accounts that the initial release schedule was moved up quite drastically to blow the Go Pro Karma out of contention. That would also lend to a later refresh schedule. They needn't have bothered rushing to compete with Go Pro.

Received a call from Guildford store saying that it's ready to pick up! Excited

    • damn, what time did you pull the trigger mate? I didn't get a call from Guildford yet

      • around 1pm

        • I bought it around 12.40, which position are you on the sold list mate?

        • +1

          @enzioFirenze: no idea…

        • @poporange630: I'm 11th on this list, any idea whether you are above or beyond my order so I could get an approximation as to when I'm gonna get it?

        • +1

@poporange630: never mind, I've missed the call on Friday, picked it up ydy, did you get DJI care refresh mate?

        • @enzioFirenze:

Yes, get it within 48hrs to make it easy. Dont forget 5% cashback. Alternatively pick a home and content insurance that covers things that you carry with.

    • better yet, which position are you from the sold list mate? mine is 11th :( too far away may be damn!

  • +1

    Do it again BingLee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +1

Is there anyone else with the next best deal for this ???

  • Are these things easy to fly? Always scared that i'd crash it.

    • +1

Really easy to fly but also really easy to crash if you don't be careful. Just like a car I guess. Take it easy when learning to fly and you will be fine.

  • Picked up from binglee this morning. Was told the next batch could come in 2+ months.

Just tried my first fly. Really nice drone and easy to operate. Played with my boy and all had fun.

It definitely need a second or even a third battery and the extra chargers which can be easily bought from eBay. Waiting for the next 20% off for the Accessories. So the total cost could be cheaper than the fly more pack. :)

  • damm missed out - going to japan in 2 weeks time for snowboarding too, would have been awesome to bring this drone

  • Has anyone got postage confirmation?! I purchased but got the dreaded out of stock email.

  • If Bing Lee had stock hopefully the Ted's stock will be here very shortly

  • I have purchased a lot or should I say wasted a lot of money on DJI over priced products. Thank god I am over them.

  • looks like Teds will be getting stock at the end of the month.. hopefully all preorders get fulfilled! Who else ordered their Mavic pro from Teds?

    • I did, but I picked up one from BL, so probably will be cancelling my Ted's FM combo

      • I should have done the same

  • got the out of stock email.. does anyone know where has stock at the moment? leaving o/s friday

  • Messaged Bing Lee eBay on Friday to ask for an ETA. Got a reply a few mins later saying Guildford (store I ordered from) had just received stock and I could come and pick it up. Scooped up the drone a few hours later. Worth getting in touch if your Mavic is on back order with Bing Lee eBay!
