      • Hmm now it's saying in store pickup only, and there's no Bing Lee in QLD!

    • +3

I have a mavic and 100% you wouldnt buy one without the flymore pack.

      • +1

Thanks mate, that soothes my pain at not getting one at this price. I'll hold out until a good local deal on the FMP comes out.

      • +1

FM package is a rort. RRP $70 for a hub that still charges one at a time? After all their inflated RRP's you are only getting the crappy bag for free, and there are complaints on DJI's forum that it's too tight and damages props/motors.

I got more batteries from Apple (free del), and a 3-way charger and much better bag from ebay.

F/Stop labs are making great hard cases, and their gimbal hoods have very good reviews on Amazon, I've ordered both.

        • If you want everything in the combo then it is a cheaper way of buying. I agree though that there are better bag options available. I bought without the combo and will just get the bits I want and need.

        • @kwydjibo: I ordered combo from Ted's because it came out to be cheaper than stand alone + 2 batteries which means rest of the shit they throw is free :D no way I'd go for fly more otherwise

        • @kwydjibo:

I wouldn't want the hub at $70, and $80 for a friggin car charger? Pfft, get one on ebay for $15 shipped.

        • @enzioFirenze: I agree that if you can pick up the combo for cheaper than RRP then it can be a good buy. But questionable at full RRP if you don't want/need all the bits.

        • @enzioFirenze:

How so? Standalone was $1479, FM combo was $1914.

So FM combo was $435 more, two batteries are $300 shipped from Apple.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/287268

        • @CH: Probably not in the ozbargain spirit but there are plenty of people who want the genuine DJI accessories. As I said previously… IF you want all the items the combo comes with then it works out cheaper than buying individually. I chose not to. I will just buy the bits I want.

        • @CH: I have seen Fly More for $1999. If you cant find stock of standard for less than RRP then the $300 extra is ok.

        • @CH: actually I didn't see Apple's price for two batteries and found 2 from eBay, my rationale was that I can claim GST back from the FM while for the extra batteries, I couldn't cz it didn't have GST (overseas).

As a guy that actually owns one and has done so since early December heres what i think

1, extra battery's are a must. its pretty frightening flying it when the battery starts getting low as you get worried it wont get home, or you'll make some mistake and not have the battery power to compensate. as such i pretty much never run it lower than about 30%. You need those extra battery's so you can get back up in the air quickly.

2, the charge hub, charging one battery at a time isn't really that big a deal when you have 3 battery's as by the time i need to charge up I've finished using the drone for the day so i just plug them all in and not worry about it. A potential hour and a half of flying is a long time

3, the bag is fine, i jam the drone, controller, 3 battery's, spare propellers, powerbank charger adapter, into the bag and ive never had a problem or felt that the drone is getting damaged. Consider also the majority of stuff i film is 4x4 off roading and the drone is bouncing around in the back of a 4x4 hour after hour, day after day. If that's never caused a problem then i don't know what unique circumstance anyone would be in that would cause a problem.

4, extra propellers are a must, the drone is very strong and can take a good fall but the propellers damage easy.

5, its a genuine product with genuine battery's and genuine adapters. Everyone knows you can get Chinese knock off anything cheaper on ebay, but do you really wanna trust what is basically $1500 flying in mid air to knock off ebay junk?

        • @rolin7: I've also owned it since early December, run through approx 60 batteries now.

          1. I agree you need more batteries, $149 each delivered from Apple. But I would say more like 45~60 minutes flying time with three batteries.

          2. It's not good to leave lipo's fully charged, and the Mavic's will self deplete over a set number of days anyway (mine are set to three). I charge all of my batteries in ~80 minutes on the morning I fly using a 3-way charger, if you're paranoid and don't trust non DJI stuff you could even buy two more genuine AC chargers and still be ahead of the hub.

          3. I've never had the bag, a few people on whirlpool and DJI have said it's too tight and catches the props, and there is no protection for the RC sticks.
And if your precious "$1500" mavic isn't damaged "bouncing around in the back of a 4x4 hour after hour, day after day", your definition of bouncing is wrong ;)

          4. You get two spare props in the basic pack, I haven't needed any yet (two crashes into hedges).

          5. Umm you do realise that DJI is Chinese? And ALL Mavic chargers/adapters are just 'dumb' power supplies, the smarts are in the 'intelligent battery'.

  • Hmm wonder if I should cancel my Ted's order

    • I'm gonna wait and see which order I get first, in the current circumstances, even if both becomes available, it's very easy to flip it @ RRP :)

  • +10

The DJI Mavic Pro is a VERY good unit. I am no videographer and this is my first go at shooting overwater. It was all done in one 15min shoot. https://vimeo.com/197760998

    • Stop it! I must have one! But none in QLD! FML FML FML!

PS: Nice boat & lovely scenery!

      • +2

Thank Christ I don't have a boat…..that would be the clincher.

    • Nice! Are you in the boat or just chasing it around?

      • I’m in the boat, and i am still learning to fly the Mavic. If i knew what i was doing i could get it to track the boat (haven’t worked that out yet).

Get one, they shoot unbelievable 4K footage and are not difficult to fly. I would suggest getting a a cheap drone first so you understand how they work.

      • Where is that? Looks beautiful!

        • Brunswick Heads, just north of Byron Bay.

DJI Mavic Pro is out of stock for delivery, now click & collect only

Only 1 store showing stock I believe: Guildford, Shop G05, 702 Woodville Road, Cnr Fairfield St, Old Guildford, NSW 2161

    • THANK YOU @ash2000

    • +1

This is the warehouse as well so hopefully should have more in stock than anywhere else.

  • +2

The drone is seriously amazing. Super easy to fly and the camera stabilization is awesome. It's also tiny, so super easy to transport. Definitely want the fly-more package if you can get it though, can easily chew through 2-3 batteries without even trying.

  • +1

thanks mate, I got one for pickup from Guildford which was the only store with available stock in NSW. Worth the drive cz when I called the store, they said it's in stock and I can come pick up today :D Now what do I do with the flymore I ordered with Ted? hmmm

  • do i need a drone..that is the question

    • Yes you do.

    • you need a Mavic for sure ;)

    • Of course you don't! Buy it :)

  • Ready for collection Thu. 9 Feb. around 10:00 am

  • Mavic ordered! now see if they actually have stock…

    • I called them and they said they do have stock even now, wonder whether I could get my hands on one if I went there today :D

      • I dont think you can get the discount though… I'll.wait for them to call me.

        • I already bought it off eBay, I meant whether I could get it if I go there ;)

  • Damn missed this

    • +1

You haven't missed it, you just have a 20 hour return road trip ahead.

  • -4

It's US$999 direct from their store with free shipping. Current exchange puts that at $1307 delivered. PLUS if you use Cashrewards it's a further 5% off so another AU$65 off. All up, that is $120 cheaper than this deal. I didn't neg becuase it's a US store http://store.dji.com/product/mavic-pro?gclid=CO-llf7q8tECFYe…

    • +1

Plus $130 GST and $50 customs charge.

Edit: it's coming up $1699 for me.

      • Ahhh yes, import taxes…fair enough…

      • DJI collect all the tax for the AU government.

    • Good price but likely be liable for GST which would negate any cost saving.

    • That doesn't work if you want shipping to AU you have to use AU DJI store which is normal RRP

      • Yeah, it forces you to pay in local currency at $1700 (inc GST)

      • Yep, you're right. Good pickup

    • You must have your region set as United States, that only ships to United States. Did you go to checkout?

Products may have different prices and availability based on country/region.

For Australia it's $1699 with tax included and free shipping.

      • Ahh, the good old FYYA tax…

  • -1

Would've bought if it was FlyMore package. Still waiting on Ted's

    • This but I wasn't quick enough anyway :) still waiting !

    • So you are basically saying you would only pay the lowest price of the stand alone package, only if it came with the $500 add on.

Congrats? This is cheaper than Ted's and you can get it today. Teds is having trouble filling the orders as on the whirlpool forums. You should have at least upvoted this deal rather than say you are waiting for the more expensive package where you can buy the batteries cheaper elsewhere and a higher quality bag cheaper too.

Seems the antithesis to getting a bargain the way you are going about it, if you actually want a Mavic.

      • -2

        Ummm… ok?

  • +1

Thanks OP! Best price I've seen in Oz. Got one pickup in Guildford. Time to sell my Phantom 3 4k on eBay…!

    • +1

Same here, now gonna sell my Phantom 3 Pro

      • +1

Good time to do it while the Mavic is still relatively difficult to get hold of

  • No longer available. Even for pickup from Guildford.

  • Crap…was paying for it, and got a not available :( :( cant believe i missed out
    called up out of stock

  • I got myself a Parrot night jump car drone and that is so much fun; particularly as it has turned into a great cat toy - watching the cat run past the car on the camera is just hilarious. I think I would wet myself if I got one of these. I'm forcing myself to wait a while until the price comes down and the battery life is better for flying drones. Seriously cool though, and loved some of the earlier comments about how to avoid buying.

  • Wonder why guildford showing still in stock but cant check out

    • I had that issue - I was trying to add it to my cart over and over to apply the discount and it wouldn't work at all. Just said "0 items added" However "Buy it now" worked and there is still the section for the discount code at the bottom of the first screen to take 20% off. Hope that helps

      • +1

Nope "This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired."

        • Ah ok - was worth a punt in case it was the same issue

        • @Symbiotic:

No worries. Guess I'll wait for 10% off on Fly More combo @ Ted's :) Not an issue I think both deals are about equivalent especially with TRS

  • same @cyrax

  • +12

Thank God this sold out. (Saved me a talking to by the ministry of war and finance.)

    • Agree with you. Good it's sold out. I'm really really tempted to buy one, but I would have to put that on the Mastercard. My wife would not be any happy for that…

    • That makes us two. I am regretting buying many pricey toys over the years that I hardly used.

    • me too ! so happy it's sold out! pheeew.

  • +1

This drone is awesome. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago. I paid full RRP so seeing this discount stings a little but glad I managed to get one when I had the chance. This is my first drone but it is so easy to fly. The photo and video quality are great for hobby use. The portability is what sets it apart. Went for a road trip recently and this could sit in glove box of the car so I could easily stop, grab some great footage and be on my way again with very little effort.

  • Is there any sort of insurance you get for these drones to cover accidental damage. My fear would be that I stack it into a tree or it crashes into water.
