Also, just like that one you linked, ebay has them for about 7$
..It's been said a thousand times before but I guess it needs to be in every new deal with windows 10 keys,
This is an OEM key that has been taken off office/enterprise computers not in use anymore, its very unlikely action will be taken on a home user, but please keep this in mind when making the purchase. Also keep in mind that its very easy for Microsoft to trace the keys origin.

"Permanent,Authorized,Gloabl Key" are just meaningless buzzwords in a post like this, if it wasn't obvious already.

We don't have individual numbers on our "enterprise agreement" windows 10 licenses …and we run enterprise not pro due to some features for domains and other networked requirements …. they charge us based on how many machines we have and do periodic true ups.

Same image for over 10,000 users …. we don't track or load 10,000 keys. Only thing with license numbers is Visio and Project and I think that will probably be done with via Office 365 subscriptions soon also …. and CALs for SQL and a few other selected products.

It's easy for OEMs to get OEM keys and resell …… if I was to sell 1000 NUCs, I can get OEM keys, and if my customers wanted to run Linux they might not want those keys.

        • +1

Well yeah… there are all kinds of different subscriptions from Microsoft like Volume Licensing.

        • The company I work for always seems to get the Microsoft Licence Compliance thing happen … where someone from MS contacts us and asks us to prove that we have enough licenses. It's annoying as f***, because their aim is to target companies that do the right thing and screw them for a few more dollars. That's easier for them than chasing down companies doing real piracy.

Anyway, that aside .. we use a Windows 7 Pro Volume license-based image. PCs are purchased with OEM licenses, and we use the image with the same VL product key for each. Yet MS, in their compliance assessment, require us to list every one of those OEM license keys. So if we were to give those OEM keys to someone else to use we wouldn't have them to report to MS.

      • But OEM Key is a real thing, that can be bought by retailers without hardware. It is only at the point of sale that the OEM hardware rules come into play.
So why does this have to be any different to the OEM Keys MSY sell with a motherboard?

    Popcorn time…. ):

But just to get in early - does it come with B28?

    • do people still find that funny?

      • Funny ….. who knows.

But seemingly interesting enough to get a bite.

    • +3

      Yes. Win10 supports 4G ;)

    Here come the SJW's

  • You can upgrade from Home to Pro with these keys

  • Can I use any Windows 10 ISO, or do I need an OEM ISO? Where would I get the ISO?

    • Any should do

    • The ISO is on Microsofts web site …. allows you either burn a DVD or flash a bootable USB …… with less machines now with a CD USB is my preffered method. They keep it up to date so its the anniversary update.

The normal ISO of the web site is fine ….. with windows 10 microsoft seems to have gotten over the mixture of ISOs, except for the "n" version which had a few things removed due to european anti competitive laws.

They seem to be good with hardware upgrades too now ……. swapped mother boards and kept my hard drive, and all I had to was ring the phone license number and they activated my OEM license again so no more messages.

Kabylake will be fun for people …. no official supported drivers for win 7 or win 8 for kabyake processors so when people buy new machines they will be moving to windows 10 if they want supported drivers.

I think they see the future in subscription services like office365 and Azure and Windows 10 is just a platform to deliver those subscription services, and windows 10 for the average users auto patches so less infected machines for the average user on the internet.

I will still be buying perpetual version of Office.

      • with less machines now with a CD USB is my preffered method

Be aware that you cannot make a GPT formatted new hard drive for the new Win 10 if you don't format the USB the correct way in the first place.

Hard to explain in a short post, but when the ISB is created the way that the original machine boots (UEFI or Legacy mode) determines the kind of boot mode that is "written" to the USB. This in turn determines to boot method and HDD format that gets used on the target machine that Win10 gets installed upon.

There is a lot of Win10 machines that are set up in Legacy mode, due to the install USB being formatted on an old Won7 machine or laptop. This drive me mental when I was upgrading, as I wanted my brand new UEFI motherboards to run the boot in that way and have GPT formatted drives in them.

The M$ USB tool handles this better than other methods of creating the Bootable USB, however it's not always creating the USB in the way the works both ways. Also, if the new machines SSD or HDD is already formatted in MBR, then the new install will get stuck with that mode rather than booting into UEFI and allowing MBR.

So, when you create the USB and whatever SSD or HDD for the Win10, wipe / clean the existibg partitions completely using Diskpart. I realise I have explained this poorly, but complex subject is hard to type on my phone.

I realise I have explained this poorly, but complex subject is hard to type on my phone.

Checks post and has multiple QWERTY typing errors and no spellcheck (e.g Won7 and existibg).

and.. I 'think' I know what you're trying to explain but, its very specific and nearly always it's just SSD's having problems with windows detecting them pre-install because it needs the drivers first. This has NOTHING to do with the USB, unless we were talking about motherboard compatibility.
No idea why you wrote all of that mess above.

          TL;DR Disregard above post.

        • @dfaktz:

Checks post and has multiple QWERTY typing errors

My phone uses a qwerty onscreen keyboard. Doesn't yours?

nearly always it's just SSD's having problems with windows detecting them pre-instal

Wrong. And in any case, my comments have nothing to do with detection.

because it needs the drivers first.

Wrong. Windows (in fact all modern OS) does not need any drivers to detect an SSD.

This has NOTHING to do with the USB

Whatever you are saying certainly doesn't have anything to do with USB. What I was talking about certainly does.

No idea why you wrote all of that mess above.

It's extremely obvious that you nothing about the subject, but your ignorance doesn't mean you should be attempting to negate the advice that I was giving.

          TL;DR Disregard above

Yep, your post is best ignored, as you completely missed the point.

Here is a Whirlpool thread that discusses what happens if you USB media is not set up correctly.
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2523854

You also must have the BIOS set to boot in UEFI mode and to present the choice of drives at boot up time, then choose the UEFI mode to boot the USB. Only once you do that will the machine boot up and run the Win10 installation in a way that allows you to format the HDD or SSD in GPT, and set up that drive to boot the machine in UEFI mode forever after.

BTW - that Rufus method mentioned by ideasman is NOT needed. It works OK but it's old advice (solution to a probkem that existed years ago which has now been fixed) and it just overcomplicated things. It's easier you to use the MS Media Creation Tool.

        • @llama:
Many SSD's need fly-by drivers during a windows install, especially samsungs and nvme, not worth itemizing your reply's. Especially after seeing your post history, my god.
Oh how I wish I worked in the IT area so that I wasn't so ignorant <3

here's an easy guide to installing windows in EFI mode from a USB:

        • grab Rufus from https://rufus.akeo.ie/ and run it
        • click the drive icon to the right of the "ISO Image" dropdown
        • point it to your ISO and click OK
        • on the main screen, set:
          • your usb drive in the top drop down
          • select GPT partition scheme for UEFI in the second
          • NTFS for the third
          • default for the cluster size
          • disable the "created extended label and icon files"
        • click start
        • Rufus isn't needed - just use MS Media Creation Tool :-)

  • Don't mind me, I'm just here for the inevitable Sh¡tstorm of "illegal" posts to start…

    • Upgrade is useless unless you have a valid Win 7 or 8.1 key, and do the deed from the machine that has that older OS verified on it.

There are work arounds but that is the situation for the majority of users.

Anyway, how many would have a Win 7 or 8 machine and not upgraded yet? You would have to had ignored and denied a year of offering and prompting and bullying from M$ to accept the free offer while it was valid… and then suddenly after all that time have a change of mind?

      • +1

Cough Pirate older version and get free upgrade Cough

        • +1

          Cough exactly cough

I doubt Microsoft give a toss really. They would just rather people get on Windows 10, hence the reason cough. Besides July 29th has passed and we can still upgrade from Win 7/8 for FREE.

Seems all too easy, so why???

        • @TilacVIP: Sounds like OZB users are in need of a good Robitussin deal for those nasty coughs

        • @dfaktz:
          Spreading like wild fire!!

        • Cough Pirate older version and get free upgrade Cough

The cough only works in Legacy BIOS mode and MBR partitions, so after you upgrade and verify the Win10 install, wipe drive and clear partitions using Diskpart.

Them reinstall afresh using the much better and faster UEFI mode with GPT partition on the OS drive. Just say "Later" at the point where you enter CD Key, then let it go online and it will verify automatically.

See my long posts above re UEFI mode for additional info.

      • Anyway, how many would have a Win 7 or 8 machine and not upgraded yet?

Well, About 40%~ on Windows 7 alone (Highest percentile of all Windows versions).

yeah ….. I think soon it will be dumpster diving at the Good Guys recycling bin for some win 7 or win 8 licenses.

I still have a windows 7 license in shrink warp ….. that bad boy will be used when its time to get a NUC …. though with kabylake processors not supporting Win7 this might eventually become a museum piece "well grand son, once people had real computers not just mobile phones and they use to load operating systems that you paid for but for that they didn't bombard you with ads or track your browsing" "grandad, you mean you had to look for stuff to buy instead of google and Facebook always flashing up targeted ads even after you already bought them or decided you couldn't afford it"

"oh and grand son ….. Soylent Green is people"

  • Has anybody whose purchased these previously from this site had any issues?

  • Just letting everyone know Win7 keys still activate win10 install as of 2 days ago when I updated a friends computer with their original cd key dunno when it will be stopped but still seems to work fine.

    • Yep. Microsoft wants everyone onto Win10 so they don't care how the user obtains their copy.. Win10 has lots of advantages for them.
