@Spizz: 13GB is awfully close to Optus' 10GB for $35-40 though. Depends if one needs the extra 3GB or not. Hard to justify $10-15 for 3GB in 2017.
Assuming someone doesn't care about international calls, an extra 5GB for $10-15 is a lot more appealing.
Note this is all before you consider network differences - this may be a factor for some. Also note Vodafone has neat things like 30 day satisfaction guarantee (before you're locked in to the contract), unlimited data for the first month, etc.
Edit: can we have information about student discount put in OP? This massively adds to the deal for those eligible.
Edit2: 5000 bonus Qantas points with the 13GB offer. That's where the deal is! If it stacks with student discount this is actually an insane offer. If we assume 5k Qantas points is $100 that's around $36/mo for 13GB.

The good thing about Vodafone for a couple / family is that you can get a SIM only plan for $22 per month on a 24 month contract and share the 15Gb data
I'm not sure if other carriers offer a similar offer but this plus the 10% student discount attracted me to sign up for a new Huawei Mate 9 phone ($79 minus $6 = $73) to share the combined 10Gb data with my wife
