Assuming this will be shipped from China so you may be asked to pay %10 GST when its arrive.

      • customs processing fee as well.
Gst is calculated both on the item and shipping once the $1000 threshold has been crossed

Obligatory: My first "bargain" post, so please be gentle.

    Actually, it's quite the opposite…

Not sure if Officeworks will price beat

    Nope…

Obligatory? I'm guessing you haven't seen the Starting Etiquette?

Also, highly doubt Officeworks price match grey import stores.

      Did you enjoy it?

What would the total price be. Is it more than this plus another 10% for gst or is there also more duties charged seeing its over $1000.?

Won't these end up more than the local office works price?

  • +2

$3,737 from iFrog so if you price beat at Officeworks it will be $3,550.

    • It's actually incredibly hard to get them to price beat ifrog… Just try a few times until you get one that's willing to price beat.

Then they are breaking the law

        • +1

I think it would be useful for you to get familiar with the distinction between criminal law, civil law and private contacts… Just saying.

        • @HugoHugo: If you make a representation, 5% Price Beat Policy, and then don't honour it you are breaking the law, which Officeworks are doing, if the previous poster is correct.

$230 price difference due to colour? Tellemtheyredreamin.jpeg

I know you're a learner poster, but the prices in the title are very misleading for people who don't realise they have to calculate customs fees, GST, shipping, etc, which will likely make the final prices dearer than local iFrog and Officeworks prices. And that's before you even consider the issues with Chinese warranty and waiting a month for delivery.

Cheaper from Officeworks after iFrog price beat

    Can't neg based on price
So I'll add a comment regarding the "value" of these MacBooks
And that is just how poor the performance is
In particular the battery life is wildly irregular
The need for countless dongles to actually use any regular USBs is a joke
I could go on and on about how poor these are for actual "pro" use

I bought a Macbook Pro 15" in 2013 for $2250. 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. It has been amazing and still going strong. If I were to upgrade it would cost me almost $3500 now. All for a stupid touchbar and a little more ram/hdd space. When my Macbook dies in a couple of more years I wont be upgrading to these overpriced MBPr. Feel sorry or anyone that thinks this is a bargain!

      Better screen. Usb c ports.
(Steve) Jobs and Growth (in cost).

    • +2

I feel ya buddy. I have a 2013 retina mac pro and I have zero compulsion to buy these new offerings as much as I love my mbp and I'd love an upgrade.

      • +2

Can live without USB C and Touchbar, don't force me to pay for that rubbish.

  • +2

    Agree. Sigh.
Apple today feels like Nokia from just a few years ago.
Locked into huge profit from current products and thinking that customers will stay loyal whatever.
Soon there will be new competitor (a la Steve Jobs and the iPhone) that will come on and take the market in a new direction.
But who will that be ….?

    • Xiaomi, OPPO, Samsung etc.

      • Apple is 3 times the size & share market value of Samsung

        • I think you got that the other way around…

        • @clse945111: Apple $700B. Samsung $200B

        • Although not quite 3 times, it is definitely bigger.

Apple continues to outshine its peers in every metric that counts. Among global tech companies it has the highest revenue ($233 billion), profit ($53 billion), assets ($239 billion) and market cap ($586 billion) for the past year.

These results make Apple not only the biggest tech company in the world, but also bumps it to the 8th largest company in the world

South Korea's Samsung takes the number two tech slot, with $177 billion in revenue, $16.5 billion in profit, $206.5 billion in assets and a $216 billion market value.

        • @AncientWisdom: that report is nearly 1 year old & woefully out of date.
Apple is worth $715B this morning, not $586B
          https://9to5mac.com/2017/02/14/aapl-hits-all-time-high-stock…

        • @yoyomablue: I stand corrected. However note the market cap hasn't been stable and therefore I think it would be silly to assume it would stay on $700B - https://ycharts.com/companies/AAPL/market_cap
Of course it could just as easily go up as it could go down

        • @AncientWisdom: Yes & the same applies to Samsung & Alphabet

        • @yoyomablue: I disagree, Samsung has been more stable on the $200+ B market cap. But of course there's no point in continuing this discussion ;-)

        • @AncientWisdom: and Apple are projected to be $800B at the end of the year

    • Apple much bigger company than Google/Alphabet & Apple shares are up 30% from same time last year
