LG IPS 34" 34UM88C-P 3440x1440 (21:9) Ultrawide Monitor $715 Pickup or ~$25.19 P/H VIC @ MSY

60

Been looking far and wide for a 34" QHD IPS 21:9 monitor and finally came across this one yesterday.

Next cheapest is at warehouse1 @ $820.95 so this is about $90 cheaper if you can pickup from MSY.

Worried about getting ex-demo stock from ordering online so emailed and got confirmation back from MSY about stock being brand new in VIC.
"Dear customer, The stock in VIC base is brand new, you can order from our VIC online store."

  • thanks for this op - wondering if you have a view (boomtish) on any of the MSY offerings in the 27-28 inch FHD (1920X1080) monitor size currently. Or perhaps others can comment - just need a new monitor for home office - strictly work unfortunately.

Sometimes I sit back and look at my 34" 21:9 monitor, even turned off, and admire its beauty. It'll ruin all those puny 24" 16:9 monitors for you at work though

It would be nice to see the 34" 21:9 1080p screen on special again. That deal was awesome.

  • How does this panel differ to the one offered in the last 34" deal?

      1080P vs 1440P

  • This is on clearance as well… seems to be pretty cheap for a 1ms 4K monitor

hi Qmar - saw this as well. Found a couple of reviews - one reasonably positive although issues with 'green', the other a little damming when comparing against the equivalent dell.

  • This or the curve Samsung s34e790c for 799 last deal?

    • I'm personally running the curved Samsung and it's utterly gorgeous. The curve is subtle… yet sensual?

If you're doing anything that NEEDS straight lines, then curved might not be for you. Otherwise, the subtle curve is stunning.

This one does have Freesync though, so if you've got an AMD card, then it's great.

Less pixels to drive than a 4k display, but IMO the wider view makes games more cinematic and most movies are borderless.

      • I'm also running the samsung. Do u have issues with the Samsung's blacks. Issues called black crush where black gradients look flat and metallic like. If so how did u fix it.

    "Been looking far and wide…"

A very poetic way to start a post about an ultrawide monitor.

  • Has anyone purchased this? Any idea what the return / dead pixel policy is?

    • I'll hopefully be receiving mine tomorrow so will update if I find anything useful in the box about the dead pixel policy. Wasn't able to find anything online about it unfortunately.

Edit: and looks like there's 1 left online @ $715. Pretty close to breaking the 700 mark!

      • Ordered!

  • Picked up on Friday, initial impressions are very good. It's my first ultrawide so still coming to terms with all of the screen real estate!

Blacks look great and the viewing angle is amazing. I'm sitting approx half a meter from the screen, so I might have benefited from a curved display, but I have no regrets at this stage…
