50% off for 'pre-order'. Delivery after May 2017. Kickstarter style?

Also, how to pronounce the watch brand lol

    • +6

I initially thought Char Siu (叉燒)… hmmm. tasty.

      • +1

        Char Jiu is the pronunciation!

        • @sky blu: If only that had CHAR JIU - we could've used that product in one of our YouTube ads coming up shortly!

  • +8

    Question,

What differentiates you from the other opportunists who buy these cheap $8 chinese watches off AliExpress, chuck them on Shopify and mark them up stupidity?

    Hardly a bargain mate.

    • The difference Chajju watches has compared to AliExpress is as follows:
      Chajju
      - 2 year warranty for Chajju (vs. AliExpress which generally doesn't have warranty or 30 days if most)
      - Stainless steel (vs. AliExpress which is usually made out of alloy steel)
      - 3ATM water resistance (vs. AliExpress which is usually not water resistant)
      - Stronger glass - doesn't scratch easily (vs. AliExpress which sometimes does scratch easily)
      - Support for local start up.

Believe it or not after the 50% off, we're only breaking even however would like to get the brand out there!

      • +1

        Stronger glass

This sounds like something you say when it's not mineral glass. Your website doesn't state what type of glass it is in the specs either.
This can only lead me to believe it's the same glass as a $10.00 or less watch.

Please state what type of glass it is?

        • Can't because MOQ not met. Have to wait for bulk order then contact manufacturer.

        • It has extra strong reinforced mineral crystal glass!

        • @sky blu: We don't have any minimum order quantities on our website!

        • +3

@chajjuau: > It has extra strong reinforced mineral crystal glass!

Like, Gorilla strong, or you talking the top notch, highest quality Donkey Kong strong?

        • @sky blu: It is not Gorilla glass. To put it into everyday terms, it will survive everyday bumps however won't survive if you drag it along a brick wall!

  • +18

    https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Vintage-new-brand-gen…
    https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Newest-Tan-genuine-le…

Looks like one of these with your company name on it…

The original brand is called 'The Horse'. Yours is just another knock-off of that design, so why pay so much for it?!

    • +6

      US $0.1-2.9 / Piece | 50 Piece/Pieces horse watch (Min. Order)

      and in there "Trade Terms":

MOQ - 50pcs with custom logo
      Sample time - 3-5days
Delivery time - 7-10days for bulk order

      Debunked lol

      • +2

This is OzBargain not "hey let's promote my cheap imported watch store with a fabricated sale".

Anyway, I think people here are smart enough to sniff that out.

        • The ones you are referring to with US$0.1-2.9 usually doesn't come with stainless steel, water resistance, stronger scratch resistant watch glass, 2 year warranty. After requesting for quotes, we can assure you it wasn't that cheap. After the 50% off pre-order discount, we're only breaking even (keep in mind the shipping cost we pay, the USD to AUD currency conversion, the box it's packed in, GST, along with the improved quality of the watch overall).

However, the choice is up to Oz-Bargainers, if you certainly want the standard AliBaba version, feel free to purchase of AliBaba (there are some really good deals on there!) - we haven't tried it but I certainly do love the quality of the Chajju watches we're selling which is why I'm backing it with 2 year warranty. You can read more about the warranty at https://www.chajju.com/pages/warranty

        • +3

          @chajjuau: Yeah… nah

    • +2

      WHY IS THIS A THING

      • We love watches and feel like this is a high quality watch!

    • It's called the (gullible) Australian Tax. They and everyone else get to charge whatever they want because our regional location.

      • We only charge the standard 10% GST. If you include the USD to AUD currency conversion rate, the higher quality materials used in the production of this watch, the shipping cost from us to you, box it's packed in, and the 2 year warranty backing it's a break-even figure with the pre-sale price!

    • +2

Exact same photo even with the exact same time on the watch.

      • These images were provided to us by our supplier and we have a outsourced local marketing business working on our own video ads, social media ads and product images. This will be released around the time the pre sale ends.

        • +2

will be released around the time the pre sale ends.

          That's not how marketing works.

Also, the term "Sale" denotes merchandises being sold at a discount (e.g. Char Siu BBQ Sauce is on sale at Hong Kong Supermarket). So if you are currently having the "pre-sale" at 50% off "RRP" ($99.00), this means when the "sale" happens, the price will have to be lower (percentage of discount more than 50%).

Yeah, that's not how marketing works. And not how business works either.

Your product is indeed, Char Siu (roasted).

        • -4

@sky blu: Roasted with sales mate! We've had 40 watches sell already. Google Analytics says says 14 from OzBargain!

  • +4

Skmei make a model similar to this style - Skmei 9083 $9.00 Shipped
    Also - Sinobi 9140 $7.80 Shipped

You MUST leave a message about colour you want in Add Message before you pay the money on eBay. Otherwise the order will be sent by our system automatically.

    • Nice watch! Chajju watches are backed with our watch with a 2 year warranty. Keep in mind our watch is also Stainless Steel.

      • The Skmei 9083 is stainless steel. So is the Sinobi 9140

        • Some very nice watches however they are different watches than the Chajju Matte Black watch, and they also don't have our 2 year warranty!

        • +4

@chajjuau: Some things just don't belong on Ozbargain, hence the 5 negative votes this deal has received.

  • +5

What guarantee do we have it is a genuine Chajju?
    These could be cheap copies!

    • +2

      genuine Chajju

      Haha, you're funny.

      • Good point! We should consider shipping watches with serial numbers to avoid copies! Thanks for your feedback!

  • +4

US$5.21 delivered from aliexpress with out the name

check out the black watch - exact same picture

    • Thanks Altomic, keep in mind the watch you have linked is Alloy which is made of a lower quality. Ours is a higher quality made from Stainless Steel. Ours also comes with a nice watch presentation box and backs with a 2 year warranty!

  • +3

Over 7 times cheaper on AliExpress here as stated my altomic above, exact same photo. Very much cheaper elsewhere and will be received before May. Resold items from AliBaba as Spackbace stated at 20 times the price is not a good deal.

    • -4

Thanks Hamza, keep in mind the quality on AliExpress is Alloy and not stainless steel. It also doesn't come with a gift presentation box, and lacks our superior 2 year warranty! Purchasing from an Australian business gives you the same consumer rights as purchasing from an Australian retail store. This watch also ships free for you once we receive our first production in May 2017!

  • +3

All jokes aside (aptly applicable anyway), I'm gonna give you a chance as a CHARity to SIUriously redeem your product:

Since you seem to stand behind the product you sell, please provide full specs of the watch to help us make an informed decision. I'm talking about:

    • Brand history (established what year, which century, link to more info on Char Siu heritage)
    • Case material (what type of stainless steel, 316L? The black model is PVD or not)
    • Case back material (push or screw-down, engraved with Char Siu brand or not)
    • Case diameter (with and without crown)
    • Case height
    • Lug width
    • Details on crown (Char Siu brand stamp/ push or screw type)
    • Details on dial material, markers and hands
    • Crystal type (with or without anti-reflective coating)
    • Water resistance
    • Luminescence if any,

And last but not least, but instead, very importantly:

    • Movement (battery-powered? Ok, but is it Swiss 5-step quartz? Ronda? Which caliber?)

It's your very chance to enlighten us with all the information on this BBQ ready delicious timepiece, and CHAR SIU will stand out from the (Alibaba) crowd!

    • Hello Sky Blu,

      Thank you for your questions!

Chajju brand established in late August 2016 however prior to that we focused on sales for phone accessories through our eBay store at http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/chajjuau - since then our passion for launching our own brand whilst saving the analog life, selling high quality products, we're starting off with the watch and plan on expanding in the Australian market by also continuing sales of phone accessories with the Chajju logo! Watches will be backed by our 2 year warranty and phone accessories backed by our 1 year warranty. Prior to Feb 2017, we used Australia Post to ship our products and have since moved to Sendle.

The push case back material is engraved with the Chajju brand. It is 304L Stainless Steel with IP plating black colour. The case size is 42mm with leather width 20mm. There is no brand stamp on the crown, and it is the screw type of crown to change time on the analog watch. On the dial it's self, each hour is raised in white, the Chajju logo is printed on the watch as well. It has 3ATM water resistance (suitable for moisture and light splashes). There is no back-lightning or luminescence on the watch. The movement is battery powered with a Japanese Quartz movement.

I hope this information helps you make your decision as to which watch you will go ahead and purchase! Rest assured, if you are into classic timeless watches, you won't be disappointed with the Chajju watch!

      • "since then our passion for launching our own brand"
I have a passion for selling bridges. There are tickets on those as well.

  • +5

Im impressed with the op. Handling this quite well :P

    • +2

Not really, I think the Rep is just making up specs & doesn't really know the product.

For example, stating the glass/lens is stronger glass, this is not a type of glass, then when asked to clarify the Rep said It has extra strong reinforced mineral crystal glass! This doesn't exist either.

Also why would a 30m watch have a screw down crown with a pop in case back? Ridiculous!!

      • Thank you for your feedback, if you would like to suggest a particular watch type for us to introduce in the future, please email us on [email protected] - you can learn more about the extra strong reinforced mineral crystal glass by visiting your local watch store as these were their words when they had a look at our sample. Our watches are inspired by the UK brand Squadron Watches with our own Western Sydney brand logo and the addition of our 2 year warranty!

        • +4

you can learn more about the extra strong reinforced mineral crystal glass by visiting your local watch store

Do you have any idea who 28WatchNerd is? You are asking a reputable in-house watch specialist to visit a local watch store to learn more about "extra strong reinforced mineral crystal".

Just. Stop. Drop the marinated Char Siu.

        • @sky blu: We provide high quality watches at affordable prices however we will not drop our quality just to make our prices cheaper. We stand by our watches, and back it with a 2 year warranty. Although we would love for Watch Nerds to purchase our watches, our primary target is males and females between 16 - 24 who aren't watch nerds and would like an elegant, sexy beauty on their wrists. #watchporn.

        • +3

@chajjuau: Sorry there can only be one WatchNerd.

      • Dear WatchNerd,

As you seem to have a great expertise on watches, we would like to invite you to try out our Matte Black watch free of charge for 2 weeks, and in return provide a honest review, once we receive it from production! Any feedback received will be considered for future product development.

If you love our watch and would like to keep it after the 2 weeks, you can pay the Pre-Sale price or if you don't like it, you can return it back to us.

If you are interested, please send me a private message and we will get this arranged in May 2017.

        • +4

Thanks for the offer but it wouldn't really matter anyway, regardless of the quality of the parts, this is just a basic quartz fashion watch made in China that many different brands stamp their name on.

While there is nothing wrong with that, you are fighting an uphill battle on here because for a little bit more you can buy a quartz watch from a reputable watch making company like Seiko (Orient) Citizen, Casio or Timex. Or for a lot less you can buy a decent fun Chinese watch from Skmei or Sinobi.

There are a lot more examples of good Chinese watches on the Best Of Aliexpress Thread

        • @WatchNerd: Great! If you ever change your mind and want a Chajju watch - you'll find it at Chajju.com

        • +3

          @DisabledUser210286: I won't be changing my mind.

      • "30m watch have a screw down crown"
Err no, it has a "screw type" crown, in response to the alternate given, " push type". I also suspect it has a transcendently derived Euclidean format manifestation with an equivalent temporal indices rapport.

  • hi, could you provide a photo of the back of the watch?

    • This will be uploaded to our website before the pre-orders end! Don't worry you won't miss out!

  • LOL
    fail

    • -1

We don't believe in failing. We believe in understanding and listening to our customers feedback to improve our product and if our customers want cheaper prices than our $99 RRP, this is their time to get their pre-orders in! #chajju #elegant #sexy #watchporn

  • +1

Ever realise you can afford to give a 2yr warranty because your mark up is so large…?

    • We appreciate your feedback regarding our pricing strategies however we won't sacrifice quality to bring our prices down to our competitors. We back our product and we are sure the customers who have purchased the product so far will enjoy the product as much as we do.

Unfortunately some of our competitors use suppliers that are either under-paid or work in bad working conditions in order to get the price to as low as advertised. As part of our social responsibility, we ask that our suppliers treat their staff with the upmost respect, follow all local laws and legislation in production and also ensure that thorough testing and quality is completed on each and every product to ensure nothing happens to it, as such we can offer a 2 year warranty on the watch.

We are not looking to change suppliers anytime soon in order to get a price as low as our competitors however will work to growing our brand as a distinct differentiation to cheaper competitors. Once in stock, the preorder code will no longer work and the price will go back to a RRP of $99. Up until that time, some local watch stores (to be announced in the future) are working on an agreement with us to stock our products.

Making a high quality brand isn't cheap however we would like to give OzBargainers the opportunity to purchase this product at $49.50 before it goes back up to RRP (or promotions not as high as 50% off).

Our costs involve overseas manufacturing, quality and product checks, local designing, quality and product checks. Local packing, fulfilment and delivery. GST. A superior 2 year warranty. In addition to this, we must pay our staff with a local call centre to be launched in the upcoming weeks.

Once the price goes up to RRP, any further store promotions won't be uploaded to OzBargain as obviously it's not the marketing channel we are focused on however wanted to give this opportunity to allow OzBargainers to know about this bargain before the price goes up to RRP.

Rest assured, your feedback has been taken into consideration and there will be items solely focused for bargain hunters uploaded to OzBargain in the future, supplied to us by suppliers with an ethical corporate social responsibility however these will not be Chajju branded products and will not come with our 2 year warranty. It will only come with the standard 1 year consumer warranty. More information about this will be released in the foreseeable future.

Thanks again for your feedback for building our store, and again we will introduce products at overseas-like prices to ensure Australians get cheap prices with shipment originating from Western Sydney however the Chajju watches will remain at the current price, and will go up to $99 after the presale period. Our position for Chajju watches is not to be cheap as chips however still affordable after the presale period. Quality comes at a price.

      • +3

You still have yet to prove to us that yours is any different to this photo, considering the pic is the exact same! Right down to the white piece of dust on the band just above and to the right of the '12' line.

Unless you have your own photos to prove otherwise, this is just a <US$2.90 watch. Simple.

        • +3

But Char Siu has a superior 2 year warranty!!!

        • As mentioned previously that watch has different quality materials than our watch. If you're wearing that watch, you're not wearing a Chajju. Please see previous posts to see what differentiates us from our competitors. A full video review of this watch is coming shortly (around the time our presale finishes) by one of our key promoters!

        • You mentioned from your previous comment too that 'The Horse' were the original brand for the watches and they also operate out of Sydney:

          https://www.thehorse.com.au/collections/time-tellers_the-ori…

Their contact page is over here:

          https://www.thehorse.com.au/pages/contact-us

        • +2

          @loke:

Yeah I thought it was the original but that was just an educated guess (just because they're also sold at Surfstitch!), but the pic is the exact same as well…

        • +2

          @chajjuau:

So… ever thought of getting your own pic of your own products then…?

        • @loke: Another great watch! We highly recommend The Horse watches if you're in Australia, and want a watch that's even higher quality than ours, The main difference is ours comes with a 3ATM water resistance where as theirs comes with a 5ATM water resistance. Another key difference is ours comes with a cheaper standard leather belt from any country where as The Horse is Italian leather which is what causes their price to be more expensive and ours to be a little cheaper! We're definitely not going to reduce our quality however maintain the quality that we have now! The Horse and our watches use the same supplier however their materials are even higher quality.

More information on The Horse watches can be found on The Horse website www.thehorse.com.au and I strongly recommend getting The Horse watch over ours if you can afford it!

It may also be worth having a look at Squadron Watches from the UK if you're after even cheaper prices as sometimes currency conversion can work in your favour!

        • @Spackbace: we're also in the final stages of getting our product on a big online retailers website! This will be published once Watch is in stock and agreements are finalised!

        • @Spackbace: we are definitely working on this and once this marketing is released, our pre sale will end and go back to standard RRP! This will be early - mid May where you will also be able to go to selected stockists to sample and view our watch!

        • +1

          @chajjuau:

          What's your ABN?

        • -5

@Spackbace: similar to other competing Watch brands such as Squadron UK, TW watches, and The Horse Sydney, in our market around the world, we do not publicly display our ABN. This has no impact on the purchasing decision of our watches target market based on surveys done by other organisations. If you would like to get into our investment, partnership and business key detail (not product detail), please send me a private message and we can arrange a meeting addressing your questions at a shared office in Sydney city, business hours Monday - Friday. This listing is for our product only.

We will only be replying to product questions and queries and any business, partnership or investment opportunities or info, please arrange a meeting with us via private message or alternatively please request this information through ASIC.

Because you either a) don't have one, or it's cancelled; or b) You're actually operating from overseas. Any reason you hide behind a .com, and not .com.au?

Interesting you mention The Horse's ABN, because they one they used to setup the site is cancelled

        • +1

          @chajjuau:

Wait, that's not even a proper address! It's a Parcel Forwarder

Holy crap this rabbit hole is getting deeper… talk about hiding yourself.

        • @Spackbace: I can assure you our business is registered in Australia and was registered in 2012. Again, I formally request you send me a private message to request for a meeting or a video chat for further information.

        • @Spackbace: Again, I request you send a private message with a time for an interview. A URL can be registered at any of our offices around the countries we operate in.

        • @chajjuau:

What, you have a problem with possible customers actually knowing you're registered for GST and that they have a way of getting their money back if/once you scam them out of it…?

What's wrong with just informing would-be customers of your ABN?

          What are you hiding from?

        • @Spackbace: Well have you tried "Char Siu"? Might come up with some.. tasty business names lol

        • -7

@Spackbace: we use parcel locker systems worldwide. You can find this information on our website. We are openly asking you to come and see us in person in Sydney however up until now still have not yet received a private message from you. Please refrain from any further comments about our business or it will be reported. We have again and again asked you to come and meet with us in person in Sydney. There is not much else we can do.

        • +1

          @chajjuau:

I don't believe in this being in private, nor am I anywhere in Sydney, nor would I join you in a "shared office".

It's kinda scary how shady you're being and your company is.

        • -4

@Spackbace: we have again and again asked you to come and meet with us in person. As per previous posts, this is how we operate and it is very closely aligned to our competitors.

What exactly are the laws of Parcel Locker 10018? Lol

        • +6

@chajjuau: Talk about opening up a can of worms. I don't think anyone has any issues with you starting up your own boutique watch brand. What you do in your own time is your business. I do, however, have problems with people coming on here and posting spam. Incase you haven't noticed… OzBargain isn't a 'marketing channel'. You wanna market your watches? try Google AdWords or Facebook… this purely for bargains - which in this case… it isn't.

The watches you're selling are drop shipped or sourced from Ali Baba no matter how much you want to deny it. How is the watched designed in Australia? How did you make that design? Why is it exactly the same? Why are you using the photo of Ali Baba with your brand slapped on it? Do you email the supplier when making your order and say "By the way, we'll only accept the order if you treat the workers with only the upmost respect" . You'd be doing yourself a favour by not posting here again. I really do hope you have a decent marketing strategy in place… because if this is the best you got you're going to crash and burn.

Mate, it's been done to death.

Also, rather than beating around the bush… you could just post your ABN? After all what is the harm? It's not exactly sensitive information.

        • -2

@Cantstandya: Please send us a private message to arrange a meeting with us at one of our shared offices in Sydney to discuss business information. If you are not in Sydney, I'm more than happy to discuss this over the phone or through video chat (preferable).

        • -1

@Spackbace: The reason The Horse's ABN is cancelled is because the Glennie and Hawkes partnership ended and Amy and Scott Hawkes started a new partnership. They are another legitimate business that sell excellent watches.

In the interests of transparency, our ABN is 75 161 761 520. For any further information, please either contact ASIC or send me a private message. Any further comments about business processes and business registration, will be replied to with a standard reply of sending us a private message for us to arrange a conference or meeting with you.

If you are not interested in purchasing this product, I suggest you stop commenting on this page. I'm a strong believer of using wisedom and time into causes worth fighting for or projects that blossom into something beautiful like creating more jobs or helping small courier businesses stay alive.

          Thank you,
          Dan

        • +10

          @chajjuau:

Interesting, from that ABN a few things can be found out.

For 1 thing, your name isn't Dan, don't kid yourself, unless Inzamam (Inzy) Chajju is meant to sound like Dan?

For another, you basically ran a scam site Stussylove.net.au, which comes with all sorts of bad tales online (here's one just for example, here's another). See all the dodgy tweets from your 'company' here

So again, this seems like just another company you've set up to just run off with everyone's cash once you've banked it, and I'm here to stop that happening

          Thank you,

@chajjuau: "in our market around the world, we do not publicly display our ABN"
Understandable. This is "your market in Australia", and any person purchasing in Australia has a right to know what that is so they can recover the GST should they be so entitled.

          @chajjuau:
" Please refrain from any further comments about our business or it will be reported"

Were this Hong Kong, such a post may be a little frightening. You do realise that you are sounding like a b-grade spoof of an Austin Powers movie?
"We will continue this discussion when we know what you look like or in a `private place'", intimations that you have any standing or authority to set the parameters of any discussion in our meeting place and vague hand-waving regarding "reporting" of what are fair and obvious queries to point raised by your un-professional and readily derided claims make me suspect that your are used to running your pitch in slightly different circumstances than those you find yourself in here.
May I humbly suggest that OzBargain is not the best venue for your to indulge in your passion for your "own brand". You will get a reputation, but it may not be the one you want.
On the bright side, what stops your posts being inadvertently mistaken for threats is the lack of authority and/or potential for them to be such.

Or… We could be trying to protect would-be purchasers for spending $50 on a $5 watch?

What makes you think the OP is so innocent…? Lack of abn? Lack of a physical business address anywhere? ASIC having no details on the company?

In terms of your business queries - we're happy to discuss with you over a video conference with a few of our staff who have made this possible!

Spackbace - I would love to see where you are getting your prices from as we're always looking to improve our price however maintain quality. Do you have the suppliers details you could send through to me? As previous posts from yesterday, with this preorder coupon code making the price $50 - we're only breaking even after our unit costs and shipping. Keep in mind our watches are not off the shelf OEM and they are customised with higher quality parts as mentioned yesterday along with our 2 year warranty!

All talk… but using photos of US$2 watches… Yet to see any proof that your watch is any different.

        • -1

@Spackbace: I think we have had enough discussion on how our watch is different. If there's any other questions you have, please private message is your contact number or Skype name and we will arrange a video conference! I hope you take this opportunity to introduce yourself to me and I look forward to speaking with you soon!

          @chajjuau:

Again, all talk, no pictures of the real product.

        • +1

@Spackbace: yep. all talk and no actual photos. just poorly photo shopped photos. you (chajju) offer 2 mens watches and 2 ladies watches. one is black and one is white. on the white mens watch it is quite clear that the name "Chajju" has been photo shopped in.

Here is a nice Timex T499359J Expedition for approx AU$51.00 Shipped

So for the same price you get a watch from a reputable brand that's 100m, so you can wear it swimming & has mineral glass and Indiglo night-light.

    • Great option however it is not a Chajju branded watch

Exactly, that's why I posted it. At least you're honest & call it a branded watch.
