  • Spin Speed 1400 RPM.

Wow, my Bosch is 1200 and the clothes are almost dry enough to wear.

  • I got the 8kg one. I'm pretty sure it has spin only option. Used that a couple of times. Overall, I'm quite happy with it, cost efficient as well.

    • It does have spin only, but if you want to quickly refresh washed clothes that did not get hung up straight away with a single rinse and spin, it does not have that option.

  • Got this a few weeks ago. Great machine. Upgraded from a 7.5kg washer, the increased volume has saved heaps of time.
The 18 minute quick wash does not allow spin speed adjustment, ie stuck on 800rpm and would like ability to select 1400.

    • "The 18 minute quick wash does not allow spin speed adjustment, ie stuck on 800rpm and would like ability to select 1400."

Not sure why but it seems to be common practice in washing machine design, my samsung 7.5 kg does the same. Anyone shred some light on it?

Presume it just takes more time to ramp up to the highest spin speed. Quickest cycle is like a trophy between manufacturers. Id much prefer a 25 min cycle with 1400rpm as the clothes would dry quicker comparative to a 800rpm spin.
Oh and the quiet 49db cycle pauses spin until the user activates it.

Read plenty of reviews of the whole electrolux range before considering this.
They die young and are rubbish, but don't take my word for it.
Read the reviews of any model older than 1-2 years, ALL of the reviews for ALL models tell stories of design and QC issues.
I won't link for fear of being called out on linking specific reviews, any serious buyer that reads this won't mind going to the effort of a google.
    Ours works, but only just.
Makes a hell of a racket.
Electrolux offered the above model to us for ~$600, we did consider it for a but, but with reviews for models newer than ours also very poor and the fact a Bosch unit wasn't much more than $600 we declined another lemon.

After reading the reviews, it seems everyone has the same major issues. It would be very foolish to buy one without doing your homework.

      • Ha, no wonder the salesman stronly encouraged me to get extended warranty.

Whilst there are some benefits to sites like productreview just beware of the obvious biases.

People mostly complain if they've had a bad experience. The overwhelming majority of people with neutral or positive experiences couldn't be bothered.

People who buy very expensive machines eg Miele, may feel more justified in their purchase of a very expensive appliance by posting a positive review.

The fact that cheaper, everyday branded machines, sell in far higher numbers than $2000+ washers means that there are more absolute number of people who will have a problem and therefore post to productreview.

You'd struggle to find any machines with good ratings on productreview. I certainly did my head in when researching.

Certainly look for frequent mentions of the same fault as that may indicate design issues but be careful about individual cases.

I've had a cheap Samsung front loader which lasted 9 years, a 1 year old LG which shredded clothes (got a complete refund), and an expensive Bosch which caught and damaged clothes in the rubber seal.

    • @virtual81:

      Ours works, but only just.

Can you please elaborate. I was thinking of getting this machine but yes, reviews are scathing.

    • Whee do you get that " Bosch unit wasn't much more than $600", not talking about the most basic 6kg model?

    • I'm an owner of an Electrolux EWF1074 for 10 years.

Still running as perfect as the day I go it, and it runs through 5-6 wash cycles a week.

    • Reviews where? don't tell me product www.productreview.com.au, their reviews are sux.
I know three people who bought electrolux and had no issues.

    • we've got one of these. extremely quite (compared to the one it replaced). works well. we do many loads a week and so far no issues (3 months). i miss having an in between program eg 45 min. it goes from the 18 min quicky to about 1.20.
we did buy extended warranty with it though! we bought it partly because choice had it as one of its best washers (might have been the best)

  • I got an Electrolux and have been underwhelmed by it. It was 3x the cost of the Samsung it replaced.

  • I have an Electrolux EWF1083 for a few years now, it broke the drum/motor support bearing after less than a year and broke the internal water hose just out of warranty because when they fixed it the first time they routed the hose incorrectly and it rubbed against the drum and concrete balance weight until it wore through and spewed forth the water all over my laundry. Now I've still got the machine but I'll never buy another, the only reason it lasted as long as it has is because there's only one person it's washing for and gets used about once a week. It's noisy and vibrates like an unbalanced psychcopath on pcp. I've actually put 20kg of steel plate on top of it to keep it somewhat supplicated. I've nearly bought several replacements when good deals have come up but while it's working decided to save the money, I'll definitely be buying a Bosch or Miele when I replace it.

Several Bosch models (including the German made one) can be had for less than $1000 during sales and/or ebay 20% off, I think the German one was available around last October and at Xmas. I so nearly bought it but replaced my 20 years old fridge first.

  • need more washing machine sales……not getting this one!

  • Buy with 4 year extended warranty, all up $1200 for six years minimum use. IMO $200/year is about as good as you can buy these days, and if it claps out during the extended warranty you get a new replacement. I say good deal for a 10kg machine.

  • Price gone up $1199 now…
