Metropol Commuter Scooter $80 Delivered (Usually $130) @ Reid Cycles

210
FREE50

This coupon code is described as "Get $50 off Bikes", but it also works for their "Commuter Scooter" as well; which a pretty decent discount together with their current free delivery on items over $75.

I ordered one myself and it was shipped today, so I can confirm it works.

That seems like the street price on eBay, no need to make a rush purchase:

I don't see anything $79.99 on ebay so I picked up one. It seems to have gone through.

    • Whats the build quality like?
would you compare this to the Ripp scooter from big w with off road tires but no suspensions?

  • How comfortable do u guys think would be to ride for someone thats 180cm tall??

    • +2

It will be fine. The max handlebar height of 105cm is pretty high and you should be hunched over a bit when riding anyway.

      • awesome, thanks!

I keep wanting one of these, but it'd be hell on the pavement here. Need one with rugged wheels, actual tires, really.

  • 100kg max rider weight :-( would've bought otherwise

    • Doh, didn't see that. I'm borderline….

Have to ride nude to make the weight?

        • @dlovep:

  • Where are the pedals and seat ?

Mine arrived today. Initial impressions are positive. I also own the Razor Lux A5 Scooter which I share with my young son. This Reid one is a lot sturdier than the Razor. Surprised that both the front and rear wheels have suspension. Haven't had the chance to try that out properly yet, but again it seems quite sturdy. I'm 110kg and 6'4", and if my experience with the Razor is any indication, I don't think I'll have any problem with it taking my weight.

Pleasantly surprised by this. I think this is a good purchase for the price, and it compares well against the Razor.

    • Thanks for this. I've been tossing up between this, the Razor Carbon Lux and the A5, and was almost swayed by all the awesome reviews for the A5.

Is the foot board on the Reid bigger than the A5? Is the build quality similar? Thanks :)

      • I think it might be slightly bigger, but I haven't measured it. I think the build quality of the Reid is at least as good as the A5, it seems more sturdy.

  • What's the trick to folding it up? I find it quite difficult.

It's a bit counter-intuitive. You need to push the lever, and pull the bar towards you. Sometimes you need to 'jiggle' the bar a bit as well to get it to unlock. After a bit of practice you can get the hang of it pretty quickly.

  • Just a note for anyone who googles this scooter in future, I bought this but the scooter is a pretty poor quality. The way the front wheel is attached, it's constantly coming loose and ending up at an angle, which I frequently have to stop and re-tighten. Like, 4 times in a 40 minute commute frequently. I'm going to see if I can get it refunded or repaired. Overall it just seems a bit poorly put together.

    • That's weird. Definitely take it back. Myself and some friends have bought a total of 3 of the these between us and not had any problems. Compared to the Razor Lux A5 Scooter, I would say this Reid one is way better; but there are probably more expensive adult scooters that are higher quality than this.

      • I took it to a physical store on the weekend and they were happy to take a look and re-tighten everything on the scooter. Since then I've ridden it for maybe a combined 2hrs and everything seems to be sturdy and holding this time. I think I definitely got one that came out of the factory with a little less attention paid to it. The service in store was good so it seems to be sorted now - but I'd be wary of buying online if you can't take it into a shop easily, just in case.
