If I could give this 10+ I would. Thanks nocure.
Warming up my car (even though it starts in 4 days).

    • +1

Your car takes 4 days to start? Wouldn't the battery run out before then? :)

  • +2

Thank you!!! Was running out after I bought about 15 from the last deal in November.

  • +6

Smooth?? Who has smooth when you can have crunchy?!
    Great deal btw!

    • i love the dark roasted and it only comes in smooth. :(

      • +9

Dark roasted comes in crunchy, I am eating it right now.

        • oh wow. will have to check other stores. AH mazing!

      • +1

The Coles you shop at must suck, coz the dark roasted also definitely comes in crunchy…the only flavour I buy…

      • +1

        Crunchy peanut butter yum! https://imgur.com/gallery/cagc4

      • Yet to try it.

  • +1

    The dark is better

    • Luke, come to the dark side…

Being OZBargain don't forget this guys. 48cents cheaper and I actually prefer it. No salt.

Sanitarium Natural Peanut Butter (375g) for $2.02

    • +8

I like that Mayver's uses Australian peanuts (http://mayvers.com.au/faqs/), Sanitarium is sourced from 'around the world' (https://www.sanitarium.com.au/products/spreads/peanut-butter)

      • -3

Sure, an Ozbargainer called Sanitarium and they said the peanuts (at that time) came from Nicaragua not China.

I looked it up, Nicaragua is fine.

    • +5

Not even close to as good as the Mayvers.

      • -1

        That's cool !

    • +3

I prefer Australian peanuts to anywhere around the world, as I believe the quality is better. With food, quality is often more imprtant than price for me and my family and I would (and have) paid full price for Mayvers when there was no sale. Your health is probably the most important thing you have, so why not look after it by eating quality food?

      • +1

I think you are overplaying the point quite frankly.

The benefits of the food we are discussing would come 99 percent from the fact that it is a completely natural minimally processed food containing just peanuts. This is the overwhelming benefit of Natural Peanut Butter.

The benefit from Australian sourced peanuts would be relatively insignificant. In fact Mayvers state they will use foreign peanuts if they lack local supply so the point may often be invalid.

The Sanitarium product also contains no added salt, a major health differenciator in its favour. Huge, Mayvers contains significant salt.

Sanitarium source their peanuts apparently from Nicaragua, look it up, they are a quality supplier, they are not China.

Finally, I like the subtle taste of the Sanitarium product it tastes like fresh peanuts, not salted peanuts.

        • Ok, thanks for this insight.

    • Thanks for this, I'll try to stock up Sanitarium only because of the 'no salt'. I can use this for baking compared to Mayvers where the salt might affect the end product.

A good and cheaper substitute for Almond Butter as well.

  • Is anybody eating this and seeing the difference in cholesterol reduction? It says it has more good than bad fats which seems to be good.
Also how do you prefer eating this? Just spread on bread?

    • +1

I'm eating a combination of things and sometimes this product and my cholestoral is going down. Unable to pinpoint which products are working though.

  • +6

Nice, time to stock up again.

    1 cup of frozen berries
    1 cup of milk
    2 cups of spinach
    1 banana
    1 scoop of whey protein
30g of the smoothy version of mayers peanut butter

    • If you're blending, then you could just use peanuts instead of the butter version.

      • Yep blend it.

I personally prefer the smooth blend rather than having crunchy bits.

        • +2

I can clearly see you're nuts.

    • You had me until spinach.

Can you taste the spinach in the end product?

      • +3

Nope. As someone who despises most vegetables this is one of the ways I can force vegetables into me. You won't taste the spinach.

  • MacGyvers peanut butter, is this a sounds like possibly?

  • +3

Best PB by the length of the straight.

  • +5

Best Peanut Butter you can find in any supermarket bar none. I've recommended it to many mates and ALL of them love it!

  • +3

I used to buy this then I found Pic's peanut butter.

Damn, it even converted me to smooth after 30 years in this earth thinking crunchy was superior.

    • +2

      Yes Pic's is the best!!

  • -1

I must be the only one not impressed by this pb.. got it last time it was half price and yeah I'd choose many others over this…

Way too oily and sloppy for me

    • Yeah I didn't get it either…. I was pouring oil in the bin lol

      • +8

Other peanut butters have oil but are manufactured in such a way so as to combine the oil into the product via various means (adding extra ingredients) to make it more consumer friendly.

But real foodies know a good product and this is one of those.

        • OK….. So you're saying I have bad taste.

What do I do with the oil?

        • @ippy:

Mix it in bro, it ain't that much.

or fry some eggs with it

        • +3

@ippy: All Natural peanut butters need the oil mixed in back in. You only see the oil in natural peanut butter because the peanut solids and the oil separate. So give it a good mix with a knife when you open the jar (takes about 1 minute) then whenever you notice your peanut butter looking a bit oily on top, just give it a quick stir when you're spreading it on your toast (or nipples, who am I to judge how you consume your peanut butter?).

  • Yass!!
Right on cue.. almost run out of mayvers..

  • +8

I must be a true Ozbargainer - reading this even though I'm allergic to peanuts.

    • anaphylactic reaction?

  • +1

    nice!

  • time to stock up

  • This looks good, no added sugars and no trans fats and fairly little saturated fats. Two tablespoons and you get a good 9g protein. Sorry, BROtein. Perfect for my post-workout shake.

  • How can you prevent natural peanut butter from becoming dry. It is oily at the start but very dry at the end.

    • +4

I think you might be consuming the oil on top faster than the rest of the paste so the oil runs out first, so make sure it's properly mixed so that you remove the correct proportion.

    • +4

Make sure you mix it and don't just take it off the top, otherwise you remove to much of the oil

  • Worst tasting, worst textured peanut butter i have ever eaten.
Don't understand how so many people are liking this stuff!

    • +1

Stir it together for 5 seconds before spreading it - best tasting and textured peanut butter out there!

      • Thanks for the hot tip, i already tried that, still no good for my taste buds, ah well, the cheap price though, somehow it is hard to walk away from half price lol

  • +1

How does this compare to Pics?

I looove Pics, but only ever buy when it is on special…

    https://www.picspeanutbutter.com/?ecomlocale=AU

    https://shop.coles.com.au/online/mobile/national/SearchDispl…

    • nowhere near as good as pic's IMO. but I'll still be stocking up.

  • +1

I still can't work out how people can add peanut butter as an ingredient to smoothies and shakes. At any concentration and combination adding peanut butter seems to ruin them.

  • So for any peanut butter experts out there, how does this and Pics compare to Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter (chunky, obviously).
Smucker's is made in the US, only peanuts and less than 1% salt, and currently my go-to peanut butter (I live in Germany, Germans have no idea about peanut butter).
I've also had Peanut Butter & Co Crunch Time Peanut Butter, but it wasn't as tasty as the Smucker's - I guess not enough salt for my taste!

Taste is the most important feature for me… I'm not eating this for protein loading!

Coming to Australia next month so may get a family member to stock up for me. I pay about $18.30/kg for Smucker's, so Mayver's on sale would be about 1/3rd the price ($6.70/kg). Worth the effort!

    • Havent tried smuckers but Pics is much better than this. Would buy full price Pics over 1/2 this.

      • Yes I agree! Pic's has a much better flavour, there is something a little off about Mayvers.

    • have you tried all these? :)

      • Nope!

Given the change though I'll do my best to track them down and give them a go. Thanks for the tip!

  • +2

Thanks OP… The misses has been instructed to Shop on Wednesday.

    • +1

+1 - she thinks 6 is a good amount to get.

I will also go and get 6 :-)

      • +1

Should last a few months at least :)

  • +2

Love this product - hopefully all varieties as I love the Cacao & peanut, peanut and coconut and the tahini too

    • Cacao & peanut - sounds weird, i have to try it

      • Its like a better healthier nutella to me.

    • It wasn't on special : (

  • +1

We get our Peanut Butter ground fresh at South Melbourne Market, only peanuts, no added anything. I use it to make my Satay sauce and then freeze it to be doled out as needed. It probably wouldn't preserve so well though.

  • +1

Missus bought 12 lol - 4 of each

  • 1/2 a tea spoon of Mayvers mixed in steel cut oats goes well.

  • -1

Every jar of Mayver's I have tried has tasted rancid and they were well within date. Pic's is much nicer!

  • +1

Bought dark roast and loved it so much bought a 2nd jar. May buy a 3rd jar today as it's the last day of the special. Thanks for bringing my attention to this peanut butter
