FREE Entry into The AmEx Lounge @ Sydney International Airport, Various AmEx Required

1620

Hasn't been posted in a while. Full credit to OP Peanut money in the deal post a couple of years ago.

I've yet to try it. I've heard that it's pretty good for a free lounge if you can get in. Hey, free food is free food.

Below is the list of all eligible cards, bold means unlimited access (or JV is trying to say something). Otherwise, you get two entries per calendar year. Your two entries can be used in the same visit for a guest to access the lounge.

    • You could probably bring a total of 7 people in that way :P

There's no reason/incentive for you not to use your unlimited access on your Plat Card, so only if you had more than 3 people would you use up the entries on your other cards

Or.. see if a random person wants to go in - maybe you could sell it to them for $20 lol (i.e. just get them to give you cash)

  • I don't want to dilute the focus of this post, but worth mentioning that American Express® Platinum Card 'Supplementary card' holders also get SKSA AMEX lounge access (my 2 sons are V.thankful :). Also American Express® Platinum Card holders and 1 'Supplementary card' holder get free PP Membership with unlimited Priority Pass lounge access.

    • What's SKSA AMEX Lounge? From googling it seems like you're referring to "Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport" AMEX Lounge? Except it's never been referred to as that so just clarifying LOL

  • Last time i went it was too busy so they sent us next door. It was less crowded and the food and drinks was better selection.

Travelling next week will ask if i can go next door ^_^

    • What is 'next door'?

      • +1

        "The Ozbargain Lounge"

        Nah Skyteam Lounge

Should've sent you back to Anfield!

  • I have an eligible card for entry and am the primary card holder. My wife had a supplementary card on my account. Is she also eligible to enter if travelling alone?

    • Yes

Source: Have tried it before personally

However I notice you say had (i.e. no longer has the card?)… but I assume you mean has lol
Obviously she needs to still have the card

      • Thanks illumination, yes I should have said has and not had!!

      • how do they check the supplementary card on the account?
do you think I'll be able to get in with a relative's card that they lend me?

        • Supp. card has Supp card holders name on it, not the primary card holder's name.

  • Thanks for asking that question @Peck. I have ended up with a Platinum Amex, a Platinum Explorer card and a Platinum Reserve card (Amex signed me up to these for some reason, I didn't really want them all)
This seems to mean I can bring a few extra people in-

Looks like 3 people for the original card and 2 people each (once per year) on the other cards for a total of 7.

    Does this sound correct?

    • I can't imagine them letting you do that, and so we need a guinea pig :)

Platinum Reserve card is free for Platinum Charge Card holders so it is worth having before for the free flight, and after March for the $400 travel credit.

  • Sucks that the ANZ Travel Adventures card is not on the list!

    • Churn it!!

  • While 'Commonwealth Bank Diamond Awards American Express Card' provides lounge access but not Platinum card is beyond my understanding?

    • +1

Because it is a higher level card? Just like ANZ Black card vs ANZ Platinum card and the latter doesn't have access.

      • +1

Aha Thanks. And I have been thinking Platinum is higher than Diamond. Time to call CBA.

    How is this a deal?
It's a longstanding benefit of having a premium card. No change whatsoever.
    Mods?

  • Thanks for the list. I didn't know so many cards allow entry. I have QF status for the moment though that's obviously not forever, but I'm sure those ANZ Black fee free first year deals will keep coming up to get QF vouchers and now this lounge too if I go via Sydney.

  • For anyone with ANZ, they will be cancelling your AMEX when it expires.
