1810
COMAC15

It's back again! Another killer price for the seagate 2TB portable hard drive. Same price as this post , but the price has been reduced once again for a limited time and I didn't know if that post would be visible once again if I told the mods to update it as it was posted a month ago. These are usually $119 so get them while they're on sale!

Fits perfectly in a PS4, Xbox One.

Enjoy your purchasing :)

This is where you put the coupon code

Also available on their eBay website for $99 if you have a promotional code or voucher that would make it cheaper than this.

Nice find. I bought one the last deal since it was a great price. I then promptly put it on a shelf and forgot about it until you posted this. I guess maybe I should try to stick to "deals" that I actually need, haha.

I chose Pickup & selected a store (no problem)

      BUT "COMAC15" (without PIN #) didn't work…

there was no "Delivery" item on the page (as in your screenshot)

      What am I missing here?

PS Maybe TGG fixed the "with laptop" condition?

You're inputting the code in the complete wrong place, read the post.

  • the deal says with laptop purchase?

    • Works perfectly regardless of laptop purchase :)

    • +3

Yeah it worked for me last time the deal was on. I didn't buy anything else, just the PHD (Portable Hard Drive - gonna catch on you reckon?)

Where do you put the code?

1TB portable for $65.45 after code I don't think it needs it's own post. Not as good value IMO but might serve some better if they just need the 1tb.

    • Cheers, grabbed the 1TB. Not as good of a deal, but if that's all you need, that's all you need.

  • Nice find! Thanks!

Excellent price. Although HDD seems overpriced in terms of capacity to performance, when compared to SSD. HDD prices haven't come down in a while. SSD prices have halved in the last 12 months.

    • There is little to no demand for storage drives (HDD) with people using the growing online storage/cloud services. Which is disappointing for those that thrive on https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/

My family photo and video collection has grown quite large. With Australia's pathetic upload speeds online backup is really not an option. I have started using google photos from March 2016. Even after google cuts down the size of the photos and videos, I am still uploading since March 2016. Computer on 24 x 7.

        • Okay whilst I am in Canberra where VDSL2+ is widely available, with an advertised 20mbps upload (I seem to get closer to 50mbps), let's assume you're on a pretty bad ADSL2+ connection and are getting 500kbps upload.

Let's be conservative and say that translates to 50KB/sec uploads.

          That's 3MB/min.
          180MB / hour
          4.3GB per day

          Since March 2016 that's about 1.4TB

How many photos are you trying to upload, considering google cuts the file size down to approx. 4MB per photo, that's nearing half a million photos…

        • @bejahi: I am on Telstra cable. About 1.2MBPS upload. I have around 5TB of photos and videos. Why neg a statement like that? Who on earth thinks Australians get enough upload speeds?

  • would this be any good as an internal drive?

    • Depends on what you're putting it into.
I'm pretty sure it's 9mm tall so it will fit in a ps4 or some laptops but not everything.

      • I have one in my ps4, something to consider though is the new update (4.50) you will be able to use an external drive up to 8tb… not sure when it's released though.

  • I want a higher capacity portable disk. Is this a good choice and price?
    https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Driv…

Does higher capacity disk have a higher failure rate?

    Thanks

    • I think that drive is not useable outside its enclosure, most WD has the non sata interface tied to the pcb board.

  • Will Officeworks price match on the discounted amount ($84.15)?

  • Is this usb3?

    • +1

      yes it is

      • Yes!

  • Would they fit in a PS3?

    • It should, although I don't know why you'd need that much space in a PS3.

    • It will fit in a PS3 physically but people have found that 2TB drives do not work and they start having trouble formatting them for sizes above 1.5TB, with 1TB generally considered the largest safe size to use in a PS3. It uses FAT32 format which in theory supports that size but people have had problems. I'd recommend just getting a 1TB. (PS4 has no issue with 2TB)

  • great deal - getting 2.

    yeah, it'd fit in a ps3.

  • Thanks OP, just purchased one for my PS4

  • Would it be okay for disassembling and putting in the NAS? One of the two Seagate drives has died this morning needing replacement.
Looks like Seagate fails more often than WD.

  • Anyone know if i would have any dramas taking the 1tb out of my ps4, putting that in my xbox. and putting this 2tb in the ps4..?

  • Great! Thanks. Just purchased it from Goodguys! :)

    • Good price but poor per TB

    • It was actually $199 when I posted it last night so they must have re-jacked the price This morning

  • Got one for $64.15 using the $20 store credit from the Goodguys Concierge Rewards. The credit came this morning. They are sending out the store credit to use this weekend.

  • what sort of drive you guys reckon it would have internally. a Barracuda or something cheap? i was looking at a barracuda on Futu Ebay sale for $134 after 20%. is it worth getting this one and put it in the laptop? i have a metabox 17" laptop with 2x 480gb ssds and one slot to spare for which i want to get high capacity HDD….

According to this website it's a Samsung Momentus Spinpoint ST2000LM003 rated at 5400rpm. Seems to have great reviews on Newegg .

I opened one of these hdds and put it in my clevo. Works fine

  • If anyone has any trouble to use this external hardrive like me ie. Not being detected in windows or OX, being recognized than unrecognized. You might need to download the Paragon Driver. Here is the link http://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/software/paragon/
Was a bit annoyed that it didn't seem to be just Plug and Play - This all could be just me but thought the info might help someone.

  • I don't need one right now, trying really hard to resist buying one…

    • Resistance is futile!

      • Managed to resist the urge, will wait for the next deal.

    • Same thing is happening to me. I'm afraid they've decided no more hard drives :(, hopefully it's back up soon.

  • It may be over. I just tried and code would not work for me.

  • Worked for me this morning
Picked it up this afternoon :)
    Thanks !

    but yeah.. not working now

  • Bought this when i was tipsy last night and i have no use for it. If anyone from Wollongong want it let me know, otherwise will return it tomorrow as i didnt pick it up yet. I need to stop using ozbargain when im drinking :!

  • I bought it, opened it up put it in my ps4, then figured out its faulty out of the box. and i scratched the enclosure getting it out.

    • I cut up 2 litre juice bottle plastic to use as picks to open enclosures. Not much chance of marking anything.

  • FiL bought one yesterday for $99 - he's happy. Price today is $119, was $129….
