Bigger saving than the (now expired) white version deal (USD129.99 vs USD 159.99 original price) for some reason.

Sold and shipped by Amazon, which makes it eligible for the USD10 discount if you used the gift card deal (still available).

Still, no idea why the black version is ~AUD40 more expensive than white, considering identical specs.

  • i assume that the black one is more expensive because more people want that colour or maybe it already sell better at that price compared to other colours.

    • When I looked it was a few cents cheaper than all the other colours.

      • Prediscount?

  • link for the gift card deal please

Thickness of drive = X mm?
    Unlikely to be 7 or 9, is it a 12 or 15?

    • +1

Pretty sure it's 15mm, I read something confirming it a few months ago but can't find it now.

I'm still not sure if the USB controller is permanently attached like most WD's.

      • Darn! Good point too.

        I want a 12MM 4TB or larger that's shuckable :(

Has been this price for ages, had it in my cart watching. Fluctuates a dollar here or there. Temporarily went to 110 too. The 160 is a rubbish price.

Yeah, the Seagate 5TB is only US$3 more expensive with somewhat similar reliability, apart from the flashy colours why would you get the WD?

      • 2.5 or 3.5 inch tho?

        • Which moron downvoted this? It's extremely relevant. It's a totally different product.

      • I could do with another 5TB! Got a link?

        • Do more research though, I think from memory they're SMR not PMR.

        • @CH: $159 is not $129 + 3$

        • @hamwhisperer: Yeah I was replying to the guy wanting 5TB 2.5", not the usual idiots that confuse portable's with desktops.
