      personal opinion of seagates are not high, I've got WD and Toshiba 2.5"USB drives and never had any issues with any of them (some must be getting 4+ years old now).

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but the theoretical maximum speed of USB 3.0 is 5Gbit/s… That's like a little over 600MB/s.

    It's not OP at fault since the eBay post says '5 gigabytes per second' but still…

    Are these standard sata drives inside still or have they changed? How thick are they?

      not sata, but as a benefit, they're smaller as they have no sata to usb board.

      yeah cannot be used to swap into laptops or consoles sorry.. but XBOX ONE supports external USB drives adding storage space for games and PS4 firmware 4.50 will as well (hopefully will be released very soon).

        That is why I bought Seagate Expansion 2.5" Portable 2TB Hard Drive for $98.10 from Officeworks Ebay Store using Ebay promotion code C10. My personal experience with the failure rate of all manufacturers hard drive is a mixed experience, so I try to buy a portable hard drive from which I can take out 2.5 inch internal hard drive to be used either in Laptops or Desktops using 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch bracket. I do not play games, so I do not have experience with XBOX.

          I've had a Toshiba 2.5" HDD connected to my USB3.0 for so long on my desktop system now, that I've been using it as a normal HDD - Steam games are installed on it and there is no major slowdown with loading that I can see from when I run similar games from the internal drives. USB 3 just works and works fast.

    Note. According to the spec. the dimension should be : 80W x 119D x 21H mm
    A bit thicker than their 1TB drive.
