Looking at $1100-$1200 then will settle around $1000, $600s - $700s will be the average for the 1080 now

      • MSI 1080 already dropped to ~$650. I wonder if they'll drop to $5xx

    • TI looks to be about 35% faster. Not insignificant, but also looks to be likely around 1200$ here. In all likelihood, the 1080 will have better $/performance than the TI.

So fair enough to wait, but the 1080 price just dropped and it's not like this is necessarily an awful time to buy.

For people saying the Ti is coming out soon, unless you are the elitest of PC gamers and need the latest of latest stuff, you might as well go with the 1080 its more than future proof and will be about half the price for 35% less power.

Wow I didn't realise that Ti is 30% more, that's a crazy jump in computing power on the same generation. now I want it

It's dumb to buy a 1080 right now, the price drops were only announced 2 days ago. And anyone that's wealthy enough will benefit from the GTX 1080, not sure why you're using words like elite gamer lol and claiming only this made up type of person will benefit.

      • Because realistically you might as well wait another year and a bit for the newer 1100 series and get a more substantial performance improvement. Plus 1080s will continue to drop so I really see no need for the average person to spend found or the price for a minor improvement.

    • I have a wide 1440 screen, a 1060 will do my D11/12 gaming at full rez at 60fps. Where a 1080/Ti would help is if the media encoders I use can take advantage of the GPU and so far thats slim pickings. Adobe Premier is the only one that does a good job and even then its not perfect as RENDERING is not media ENCODING alas.

Any idea how i can get better encoding? Corel/Cyberlink/Adobe … anyone?

Bought a ti, happily using it with my 720p monitor with 9282763838 fps in cs 1.2

  • This or the Amazon deal?

    • Amazon easy choice or the local stock one for $700

      • I'd argue with that, with over a decade of support from NewEgg.. If I'm buying overseas, its with NewEgg.. Their customer support is, to be frank, insanely good.

Also, for the sake of not commenting twice, people are 100% right above talking about waiting since the price drops only started days ago.. and I picked up 2x EVGA 1070 SC's from NewEgg black friday sales 6 months ago for just over 400 AUD each.

        • Yeah, I'm still on the fence actually. I've placed an order on the MSI deal but am reconsidering. Not sure if thats the cheapest that we'll get or if I should just fess up for the TI

        • @Wally Simmonds: For what its worth, I would highly recommend waiting if time is not an issue, within.. just 3 months, you'll most likely see an extremely different pricing regime. Probably sooner.. and in 6months, Black Friday sales will have the 1080Ti at the same price or very close to the current 1070 IMO.

  • Bought. I admit I am taking a bit of a punt on this given the scarcity of reviews but its pcb and clock speeds are identical to the Gaming X. I am willing to pay an extra $50 for the extra fan and to not see the god awful red plastic the Gaming X uses.
