    • Cant you read? It's sitewide, exluding gift cards. Not sitewide.

      • I can read the title, can you?

    • +1

Show me a link for gift cards…

      • +1

There isn't one nocure. AO eBay doesn't sell gift cards. It's a generic eBay exclusion that I've now removed from the description.

  • +7

Looks like they've jacked the prices up before the promotion….

Thought I would post about my experience with Appliances Online.

I ordered a F&P dishdrawer and I screwed up and ordered the wrong one (ordered model no DD60STI7 when I needed DD60SI7)

I contacted them and asked if exchange was possible in northern NSW as it was my mistake not theirs. Reply was "no problem", so they FREE OF CHARGE sent out the correct model and took the other unit back.
NO FREIGHT CHARGE, NO RESTOCKING FEE.

I am not associated with them in any way, but they have a customer for life with me.

    • +4

Yep, they're awesome, everyone should support companies like this.

    • I would of sent them a slab haha

    • +1

Yes, they have a 14 day change of mind return/exchange policy. It's on their website.

They didn't do you special favour as it's already their policy to do so, but I agree it's a fantastic policy nevertheless!

    • I had a similar experience with an exchange for a TV, sent me a different TV and collected the wrong one the next day free of charge. Great customer service like that really creates return business, since then I have made three further purchases.

  • Any good 55" TVs available as part of this deal? Looking for a new TV for PlayStation and watching Blu-ray.

    Thanks.

    • I had a look through the TVs but didn't appear to be much around, they had all been cheaper in the past for the ones I checked. This deal isn't bad though compared to past deals. Otherwise better off waiting for a deal elsewhere for TVs.

      • Thanks. I will keep on waiting.

  • Nice! Got the Rinnai Gas heater EN13SN for $603.

Edit: other retailers selling it for $725

  • why not just do 20% like everybody else? meh..

    • +2

I've seen a couple of comments on price jacking but from the overall look doesn't seem to be an issue here (I'm still scrolling though, lol).

A real 15% sure beats the "20%" a lot of other sellers are doing these days …

  • Our 3 yr old Electrolux dryer has shown signs of dying after one load a week routine.. It started with the drum not spinning at the start where we have to move the load to one side to help it start the cycle.. Last Saturday it stopped mid cycle leaving damp clothes and towels. We had to remove some heavier items to make it work which is quite useless.
Any advise on decent dryers from this sale or other stores?
Should I try to get it repaired?

    • +3

Elextrolux makes different types of driers. This advice relates to basic rotating drum style drier.

Probably needs drum belt replaced (although shouldn't at that age). Google "electrolux dryer belt" with your model number - for YouTube videos & advice.

A loose or worn drum belt is usual issue, with drum only turning with lighter load.

Too heavy / wet loads are usual cause.
Best to check washing machine is removing enough water, otherwise problem will recur - even with new drier.

Driers are built for certain amount of damp clothes (usually 6 or 7kg MAX). Beyond that drying is much slower, inefficient, increases running costs, & it wrecks drier (& clothes) over time. Divide washing into smaller amounts (allows more air circulation & moisture removal) to dry quicker per load.

Belt is cheap & can be replaced by opening machine. Belt goes around drier drum & around pulley on motor shaft. There is often a spring tensioner to keep belt tight, which could have come loose.

(I used to service Simpson driers, so have little experience with electrolux.) First Simpson I repaired had same symptoms (after I sold it) - had not put drum belt around pulley on motor but on shaft (difficult to see) - so unit worked with light loads but belt slipped with heavier load. I learnt from that call out to repair my mistake.

      • Thanks for your response.
I doubt that it was caused by the motor slipping as I can hear the motor is trying to spin and causing some burnt smell.

I might check the capacitor and see if it will fix it.

        • +1

If belt is slipping it does heats up causing smell. That means the motor will spin, just the drum won't turn or needs assistance.

But if motor is having difficulty starting, then likely a motor problem, possibly the capacitor.

Best to check belt first, before more complex issues like motor. It's a process of elimination.

Easy to check belt system after opening up drier - disconnected from power. Hold motor shaft from spinning & turn drum. You'll quickly see if the belt is problem - drum won't move if belt system is good.

If its not the belt, then likely problem with motor - possibly capacitor if fitted.

Basic driers are simple machines & easy to repair. (Used to average 5 minutes per machine, but had all replacement parts on hand.)

    • +2

I'm going to say, it could be a slowly dying capacitor. My F&P dryer had the same symptoms after a few years and eventually about two years after that, it stopped spinning completely. Changed the capacitor myself (was about $15 on ebay) and it was as good as new again.

It's quite easy to do - you just need to unplug the old capacitor and plug the new one in. There are guides on the internet and youtube - just be extremely careful as the old capacitor needs to be discharged before removing it (DON'T USE YOUR FINGERS TO DISCHARGE IT BY TOUCHING POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE). It wasn't an issue for me as the capacitor was pretty much dead (since my dryer didn't turn at all anymore) and I had left it unplugged for a month which causes any residual charge to "go flat." I confirmed this with an electrician mate before doing so. You can buy a discharge tool (cheap enough) or some electricians say use an INSULATED screwdriver (hold the insulated handle and touch the screwdriver part against the negative and the positive lug of the capacitor - this is frowned upon though as you should really use a discharge tool - safety first).

      • +1

        Capacitor replacement

Approach depends on type of drier. Some drier motors do not have the capacitor. Needing to assist the drier to turn is a common issue with a few possible causes. But fairly simple & cheap to repair as you found.

(If you know what you're doing & follow electrical safety precautions - I just short with screwdriver.)

Have never replaced a capacitor in about 100 driers - but haven't repaired for years.

    Thanks OP.

AO's prices seem to jump around a lot. I just purchased this Liebherr winefridge: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Liebherr-WKB4612-195-Bottles-…

Under the previous 10% eBay sitewide deal, AO went and jacked up the price to over $3k when the sale first went live. Towards the end of the sale period, they then dropped it back to $2788. Fortunately I was too slow to purchase it at that price.

This morning it was still at $2788 and so after the discount came to $2369.80 which I was pretty happy with. Now an hour after my purchase, I see the price has gone up to $2869!

Delivery is already scheduled for tomorrow which I am pretty impressed with, although annoyingly they can't give me a time window.

    • Most customers are not as eagle-eyed as you (well OzB in general).

As mentioned elsewhere, our pricing system is dynamic, rest assured we don't have someone sitting there manually adjusting prices in response to an upcoming sale.

The Liebherr in question has changed prices five times in the last 21 days.
As far as I can tell, the most expensive was $2,931 on Feb 21, followed by $2,928 for Feb 27-28. For March 1-5, the price was $2,788 and then price changed yesterday to the $2,869.

Unfortunately, we can't give an exact time window for normal orders until our truck gets its full load and routing in the morning (around 6am).
I believe we do offer a priority window on our site where you can pay an additional $75 for a specific time.

Hope everything goes well with the Liebherr, it's awesome product.

      • Thanks for the reply. I received the product yesterday and now my wine is happy. Cheers!

Question - are there instructions on how to move the door from the right to the left side? It's not in the manual.

  • +1

Prices just jumped about $16-20 on 2 items I was looking at around the $1500-$1800 mark!?

  • +2

    I sorta beat the system…

I bought it before they jack price up. They did the same thing in the 10% sale which I missed out, item gone up by an exact 10% and by the end of the sale it gone up by 20%.

Saw TA's post, hop on ebay to check and it was actually cheaper than before the 10% sale last week. Bought it, come back and check maybe half an hour later, it's now $100+ more than my purchase price~

They change their AO site before changing the ebay price, I actually checked AO site and I saw the price went up so I quickly went and bought the item on ebay…

on another note, their price is the best before jacking, and delivery is tomorrow @_@

    • They change their AO site before changing the ebay price, I actually checked AO site and I saw the price went up so I quickly went and bought the item on ebay…

You'll find that when they change their price on their website it will automatically update eBay soon after.

I bought it before they jack price up. They did the same thing in the 10% sale which I missed out, item gone up by an exact 10% and by the end of the sale it gone up by 20%.

Post the details and a link to the item. There had been no evidence of price jacking posted but just regular price changes. There have been plenty of products that have been decreased however including one washing machine with a ~10% drop.

      • lol ~ I have no reason to defame AO.

I am happy with their price and am reluctant to share the info as I am the only 1 of 2 that bought the item.

When I first read it, it seems to me that all appliances listed online on eBay are on discount. So yea, misleading.

  • -8

gotta neg this given the price hike they have given to all their dyson products (particularly the V6 Slim which is $299 everywhere else.)

      • +2

To be fair, purchase price history doesn't always reflect price changes.

Whilst the current price might be cheaper than the price 2-3 months ago (when the last sale was made), it's not necessarily cheaper than the price yesterday (when no sale was recorded). You can see in the revision history that plenty of items have had their price changed at around midday today.

        • Thanks atlas. Is there any way to tell what the price was before the change? Revision history just states 'Buy It Now Price', which could in fact be a reduced price?

        • +1

@tightarse: Unfortunately not that I'm aware of, unless you're actively monitoring something of interest like I did with a wine fridge (see above).

I do note however that their own AO website seems to mirror the eBay prices, and price engines sometimes do track the AO website. So sometimes you can see differences by comparing with the price engine.

For example, for my Liebherr 4612, Google is still showing AO as selling it for $2788: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=liebherr+4612+price&ie=ut…

The eBay listing is now $2869: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Liebherr-WKB4612-195-Bottles-…

        • @atlas: Great work atlas. Thanks for the detailed response :)

        • +1

          @tightarse:

Our eBay store tracks to Appliances Online store, usually 1-2 hours behind depending on the product feed syncing.

Whilst the current price might be cheaper than the price 2-3 months ago (when the last sale was made), it's not necessarily cheaper than the price yesterday (when no sale was recorded). You can see in the revision history that plenty of items have had their price changed at around midday today.

For the V6 Slim Dyson in the OP, there has been no price change (up or down) in the last 21 days, except yesterday, when the price went down from $399 to $387.

      • they may have inflated them to reduce them. this means nothing. the V6 Slim is selling for $299 at good guys, bing lee, myer…fair to say it's the new standard price for the model.

        • Good Guys was still selling V6 Slim @$399.00 on 22 Feb 17.
It's not fair to neg based on this.

        • @nbn: how is it relevant what they were selling it for on 22 February? It was $299 at Bing Lee, Myer Online and Good Guys for the entirety of the eBay 10% sitewide sale. It still is $299 at Bing Lee and Good Guys on eBay (and $299 on the myer site: https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/2343944). It's also $299 at Big W (although the Big W version is blue, not yellow). It's a price hike, and no amount of negative votes on my initial comment will change that.

        • @xyron: Well to be fair, a 'price hike' can only occur if Appliances Online themselves was selling it for less than the current price of $387.

I can't see any record of them selling it for less than this. In fact google cache shows it was priced at $399 as of 4 days ago:
          http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:g8Uk4vW…

It's irrelevant what other stores are selling it for. Appliances Online doesn't have to sell it at the same price as other stores. Just because other stores are currently selling it for cheaper, doesn't mean that AO has to.

        • @xyron:

          how is it relevant

That means the price drop from Good Guys was only recent thing. 10% eBay site-wide sale is irrelevant. You can't expect every single store in the world to sell at the same price. This is called 'competition'.
I can't see Appliances Online jack-up the price on specific items on this sale. They are just not competitive on Dyson, that's all, so just move on.

        • @nbn: you have hit the nail on the head. Our Dyson prices are not always competitive with the rest of the big boys, usually it's because of different supplier costs (i.e. Dyson sale price). Something we are working on.

  • Chat person on AO website told me that their prices go up and down with market demand and that was common practice. This was after I remarked on price going up from $797 to $856, sometime in the 5 minutes since I was last chatting with them.

Fortunately it was still $797 at ebay.

    • Who do they think they are? Uber?

Anyway, hoping I can grab a good front-load washer deal tonight. Hopefully there aren't too many others looking for the same washer so I don't have to pay a surge fee. Thanks, UberAppliancesOnline!

      • Who do they think they are? Uber?

Hah, our price analyst had a bit of laugh at that. We do try to do something similar. Obviously on a much smaller scale but it's one way we can compete with the heavyweights in this industry.

    • They don't post many items to rural NSW even though they offer free postage to rual NSW on their own website. A Shame.

Instead of posting misleading information read this thread. There are limitations with eBay's systems in setting up delivery areas and they have little control over how it works.

In this case. base on enough dealing with CR experiences, whatever that THING you put on up there to me means the transaction is NOT TRACKED.

Matter of time then effort write up another enquiry and see what funny excuses CR can come up with

        • Relax, no need to yell. I work at CR and contrary to what you believe, eBay does take up to 7 days to track. Some stores take minutes, but eBay is unfortunately not one of them. Just be patient. No one is making excuses. Just stating the facts.
