I paid $250 dollars more for the 8000 a couple of months ago… maybe not the best deal.

  • Not as good as the previous deal.

After the Vault 7 leaks this is seeming like less of a deal.

    • I wonder if those leaks will affect Samsung TV sales

Or the expansion of the GoggleBox series

Do you say things in front of your tv that govt would be interested in?

No, but just because I don't doesn't mean I should have my privacy invaded and my every word recorded, stored and gone over by some random government agent in a building in Virginia. Your argument (if you can even call it that) is literally the worst argument you could possibly make for it. You should read Martin Niemoller's "First They Came For The Socialists…"

        • You are the worst kind of commenter.

YOU IGNORED EVERYTHING ELSE I SAID.

Yes, as it stands, nobody wants to be recorded. I don't want to either.

Collectively, you have nothing to worry about. ALL 3 FACTS ARE IN PLAY. -

          • You probably don't say stuff the govt wants to hear. but even if you do
          • Entry is required to your home to install the software
          • A software upgrade will likely kill it.
        • I ignored everything else you said because your first question rendered it moot.

@altitudinous: Entry is required to your home to install the software
A software upgrade will likely kill it.

Vault 7 is a collection of documents from 2013 through 2016. In the (possibly) four years since this was created there have undoubtedly been more vulnerabilities that the FBI has exploited which could quite easily have been worked to allow for network insertion and a rootkit-like installation.

      • Snowden's disclosures included some of the criteria by which someone can be red flagged. One of those criteria is visiting particular sites. Not ISIS recruiting sites, but sites like boingboing.com which frequently discuss civil rights, government surveillance, etc. So yes, I do have something to be worried about.

Also, the unofficial mandate of of the NSA is to 'collect everything'. This was why Snowden released what he did. Because they went from a surveillance program that was targeted, to one in which they collected almost everything they could, which is then rife for abuse.

  • It was $1098 last week at jb hifi…. not a good deal

  • Buy this and the CIA will spy on you

  • I'll call the bikies if they do

  • Laughing hard at the security issues comments. Apple and Google are also mentioned in the blurb I read, so pretty sure the world governments would have hacks for all smart tvs etc.
So technically these Vault 7 leak comments should appear on any internet connected device posted in OzBargain :)
