    Does iOS not have a built in data counter? I know Droids have since Lollipop (or was it KitKat?).

      on iOS. Settings -> Mobile -> Mobile Data Usage
      at the bottom of the page you can reset the statistics also

      Well before then. My Jelly Bean device has the auto data counter built in.

      iOS doesn't count monthly. It counts since last reset only. IE, you reset every month on your billing day = data counter works.
