LOL, 400 positives and not a single neg for a pricing error. OzBargain, you've done it again!

    • +1

You can't have denial of service without denial :-P

    • +2

at this stage, there is no pricing error confirmed….. Until Greys advises its a pricing error, we'll pretend its a OzBargain miracle.

      • Ok… now we can get the pitch forks out!!!

  • -8

What do you reckon they made in sales volume for this potential pricing error? Let's assume $600k. And assume They put that money in an ING savings account at 3% interest. All of a sudden it's making them $50 per day. They sit on it for a month that's $1,500. That's a pretty penny for not much work, and it's pure profit.

I'm expecting an email in a week saying pricing error, and that refunds will take a further 3 weeks to process lol

    • +2

A multi million dollar company does not care about $1500.

      • +1

        Except for Kogan ;)

I think it's a real deal guys. I was checking my AusPost status for my other orders and I saw a new parcel tracking added automatically to my AusPost profile from someone in Homebush NSW. Upon Googling looks like it's Graysonline office in Homebush NSW. https://g.co/kgs/9QcGzy

I ordered directly from their website FYI. So there is hope after all!

    • how do you set that up?

      • +1

As long as you are registered for AusPost account, I reckon as soon as any e-tailers lodged the parcel via AusPost and matches to your name and address on AusPost database, AusPost will automatically added your parcel delivery details to your account.

        • +1

It's if the email address matches, not the physical address.

    • +14

Hey guys, sorry for the false alarm, I just realised this is for my other Salter weighing scale that I bought from them as well. Guess we have to wait for official shipping notification. Once again, apologies.

      • You almost make me believe in miracle again.

        • My bad guys, but definitely about AusPost automatically adding tracking to your registered mypost, yes it does get added automatically as I bought off the Salter weight scale off grays eBay using different email to the AusPost account.

        • @cloudie9: No worries. We all had some fun.

  • +11

I had tried to cancel my order from eBay after purchasing from their direct website, but this morning got an email saying my purchase had already been processed to ship. Maybe some good news after all?

Don't really mind if they can't cancel my eBay order. I'll end up with 3 SSDs at a bargain price then!

    • Just got an email asking if I want to purchase extended warranty on the product.

    • +1

Good news, but let's hope we don't all get 256gb drives in the post or something :)

      • If we do we can just paypal return

        • Yeah no problem, I'll just take unpaid time of work to return them.

        • @OzzyOzbourne: lunch breaks?

    • Ordered one from eBay, heard nothing ever since…

  • +2

So asides from a few troll post nobody has gotten the drive? I will negative review if I dont get one cause of the tardiness of how they reacted to a pricing error.

    • +2

It was only available on Thurs dude, and now it's a weekend. We have to wait till Mon (or Tues, depending on what state they're in) to find out.

You cant vote negative after voting positive.

You can revoke your positive vote which makes it a no vote but not negative ( Likewise you cant upvote after a negative vote)

  • +1

I am among the first 10 to purchase the ssd, but still no further information except the confirmation from ebay.

    • +5

Thanks for not buying the lot.👍

  • Was anyone else charged $1.00? I tried to make the purchase with no success…

  • My paypal pre-approved payment has been debted.

  • +14

Grays purchasing managering ringing around all day Friday "what's the best price I can get on 2000 Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD 960G SATA III SDSSDXPS-960G SSD's ?"

    • +12

Why oh why would someone contact & ask if it's a price error, buy wait prey

      • +4

Bitter people who missed out would tell them

        • +6

Lol this bnebargainsdotcom guy seems to be a ghost account of shawncro 222, who's been quite the pissed off guy because he missed out.

      • +1

Your typo and name match perfectly. Dunno if intentional or not.

    • +10

Why are people asking them anything?

I'd just sit back and hope they don't realise their mistake :|

  • +2

I hope Grays considers the intangible effects of this error. If they Don't Ship the item out then hundreds of probably unique customers will remember this experience when finding an item they want on their website and will be more likely to avoid them. If they do refund us then they should consider compensating the customer with something like credit at the store. If they just give us a refund then this could potentially do more damage to the potential revenue of their company which could be greater than the value of the products sold(+negative reviews on ebay wont help)

    • Paypal - Pay after delivery. Glad i utilized that option. Still, i'm trying to stay hopeful that this is not an error. Otherwise, Grays gonna get some bad publicity, and from the looks of these comments, not only from me!

      • How did you get that feature turned on? Isnt it US only?

        • i believe anyone can use it but im fairly certain it can only be turned on when you have a bank account linked as primary not a CC. I cant remember how i turned it on, you may need googles help for that.

        • +1

I used that option too, definitely not US only, I have used pay after delivery for quite a few things recently including one that never arrived so it was quite a good thing to have.

When I log into paypal it tells me that they have already paid grays but will debit my bank account in a few weeks time.

  • +6

I didn't order any as too suspicious for me, but I hope it works out for those that did. I keep checking back to see if there is any more information.

One of these in my laptop, and two of these in RAID in my desktop would have been nice.

    • +4

but I hope it works out for those that did

      Except this guy.

      • +4

        Except this guy.

Yes, indeed, if it is cancelled (which is highly probable), the silver lining will be that that order isn't fulfilled.

      • +5

Don't forget that other guy who bought 30 units.

        • Let's hope they restrict delivery to just one unit Per person. It will be win win.

  • +2

Pretty poor form to have had no feedback from them yet.

    • Have you purchased from Gray’s before? This is completely normal, they are piss poor for info post purchase.

    • I noticed this morning I have ebay feedback from them calling me an awesome buyer.
Hopefully not getting buttered up for the let down :)

  • +1

Still no news hey? I'll hold out till Wednesday before I email a WTF, where is my order!!

    • +4

      Yea this is getting ridiculous…

    • Are being serious?

    • +8

      I call BS.

    • +6

      Pics or it didn't happen!

    • pics + time stamp or GTFO

  • +17

Rang GraysOnline and they said my order will be processed and shipped before end of business today. They also said this is brand new in retail box not refurbished. Sounds really promising.

    • Oh nice….. Sounds promising for sure!

    • Hey did you buy from Ebay, or directly from their site?

    • That's nice! I'm calling them now to confirm :)

Edit: I reached their (non-eBay) office and they'll have to chase up their eBay department to see what's going on. It's as if they don't even know about this "huge" pricing error

      • They are playing dumb and boom! all orders cancelled.

      • Maybe they got them cheap and are passing on the savings?

      • Makes little sense, since it was an even lower price on their own website

        • Looks like a SQL injection to lower prices - probably hacked.
ebay prices were 10-20% up which is normal compared to store prices.

        • @localhost: Interesting theory - what would be the motivation, just to gleefully watch it play out on ozb?

        • @leTintin:

          1. Not happy customer.
          2. ex employee
          3. someone willing to make a quick profit

          I'll bet on 2.

    • Stop calling people! Just let it play out naturally….

Don't give them any reason to be suspicious…..

      • +6

Mate I think suspicions were aroused when they found they'd sold out in less than 24 hours, they pulled off all their SSDs the day after.

That said I have never monitored my email and ebay purchase status as much as in the past few days… I've got 3 tabs permanently open for now - this one, ebay, and email!

  • +9

Just got a text from australia post - package is on its way!

    • Sweet news brother, keep us posted!

    • +10

probably some other random thing you bought on ozbargain that you didnt even need! :)

    • +1

Mighty be a different package Mr Heisenberg.

    • +1

Got another text this morning - saying it's going to be delivered tomorrow (Wednesday) … fingers crossed lads & ladettes !

  • +7

Why do I keep checking this for updates every 5 minutes.

    • +7

Because of that sweet SanDiskfaction if you finally get it in your hands!

  • +3

Given they didn't send out emails cancelling. I think the real issue here is that they sold out so quickly and maybe have been overwhelmed by the number of orders they have to dispatch.

However like most I'll just wait and see, then if it comes decide what to do with it… 😀

If it doesn't then I dont have to explain another purchase to Mrs Raccoon

    • Or someone took a long weekend and thought they would sort this out when they return.

      • +2

They are Sydney based. No Long weekend

  • +5

I think it is a wait and watch game now. I am not going to phone Graysonline, I would like to wait for Grays response about this order.

I ordered directly from their website.

    • they are going to make me Wish that i ordered more than just the one

the big question is if this sale is some how Legit whats going to happen to all those other drives out there in the very near future ?

      • I can't see how this could be legit.. Surely it's below cost price??

        • +1

Probably an insurance job. Importer shipment experienced an issue and they were paid out, leaving the insurer with the goods to dispose of.

Parts send to auction to recoup costs.

          Similar to the deal below:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149387

        • @xuqi: Grays usually auction them in this scenario, though if they do have >1000 SSD's it would probably take too long.

In early 2010 I got 5 (of 100 or so) brand new 300GB 10,000rpm Raptor drives through Grays auctions for ~$115 each (PCCG were >$400 at the time), only downside was less (1yr) warranty as they were HP rebranded.

        • Count down the days

ones things for sure if this dos not go thro i doubt il end up using them again.

  • +5

I looked at my last purchase from Grays, direct from their website as per this deal too, although the last one was an auction, and it was 6 days from paying and receiving invoice, to getting next contact to say it was being shipped. So their crappy communication is normal, their website gives you no update when you look at the purchase.

  • +3

The lack of order cancellation looks good. Surely by now some people would have got some messages.

  • No refund and hasnt shipped….Grays does not have very good customer service.

  • I think it is a lost cause. If it ships, I would consider that a very big bonus. Grays online does not have good customer service at all.

  • +20

    I emailed their customer service and they have replied telling me that I will be refunded due to a data error. Here is part of the email;

    "Thank you for your patience.

I regretfully advise that we are unable to fulfil your recent purchase of the SanDisk Products.

Due to a supplier data-feed error the product is unavailable. A full refund of your purchase price is in the process of being completed and funds will be transferred back to you via your original payment method.

I would like to assure you that this is a rare occurrence; we take every measure to minimise the likelihood of this happening. As an apology for the inconvenience, we have organised for you to be sent a $20 voucher to be used on your next purchase with Grays Online. This voucher will be sent in a separate email within the next 2 business days."

    • +1

$20 per customer doesn't go very far on their website…

      • Especially when shipping is usually $10… Doubt I'll be using it any time soon.

  • +4

I just received the same email.

  • Any updates from anyone who has purchased from eBay?

eBay status remains as paid but not sent.

Have had no further correspondence either.

    • +2

      Nothing here and still waiting…

Seriously very poor practice. If they are going to cancel then just do it already.

This has taken way too long for them to react.

    • I noted above that I received positive feedback from them as a buyer for the transaction. No other correspondence though and I've not attempted to contact them. I'm happy to wait and see what happens.

I notice that the item says 269 sold, but we know there were considerably more listed. Perhaps they only had 269 to begin with and completely stuffed up the listing.

  • +1

Most likely worked out it would cost them over $200k to honor

  • -6

I personally purchased some from ebay and some from their site. They can pull whatever kind of stunt they want on their own website, but on ebay there is no way as a seller to 'back out' once things have been paid for, and if you try (e.g. refund and just never deliver), you're going to absolutely hammer your ebay feedback into the red.

I'm really wondering whether they will honour ebay purchases, or whether they would rather burn their account with the negative feedback wrath. The issue with honouring the ebay sales, is that then it looks like they have treated customers on their own website worse than those via ebay, and that will certainly do no favours for their poor reputation.

I expect they are in discussions with ebay at the moment - presumably the amount of negative feedbacks they will incur would cause ebay to close their account for violating the ebay terms of service for not delivering - and since it is not ebay's mistake they are unlikely to want to bend the rules for them, it would be unprecedented for ebay to allow orders to be cancelled due to a pricing error. Grays is for sure stuck between a rock and a hard place!

I don't know there is much that grays could offer that would placate customers after this delay - a store credit is certainly not going to go down well, for some that might even come across as a bait and switch.

    • +1

I don't think the negative feedback would be an issue. They would have ebay remove them.

      • I'm sorry, but I can't see why ebay would do that? Why should they - its not ebay's mistake, and then people will be angry at ebay, as small sellers don't have the same privileges.

        • +3

EBay is a business so like any business they look after #1. After that they will certainly look to support their high volume clients ahead of other members.

1000 individual pissed off customers is far better than 1000 negative feedback's for one of their high volume sellers.
