  • These are crap. Bought them and they break very easily. After having bought quite a few small appliances from aldi,I have noticed its not worth it.

Yeah, save your money and get some real grinders that don't need another set of 4 batteries after you've ground 3 meals. And what's with the light? Paranoia that someone's grinding you an undisclosed substance on to your candlelit dinner? Oop! The batteries died again. Not only are you not dead now, but you've got no pepper either.

  • Save all your electricity and get a manual grinder, are ppl really that incapable? *arthritis suffere excluded

  • The lazy susans look pretty good at $7.99.

But the lazy Susans are not lazy enough. No motor! You have to actually turn them by hand. It's like being in the dark ages.
Almost as much back-breaking work as grinding your own pepper.

  • Isn't it more fun grinding it out by hand?

      depends whose grinding ;)

  • It does say 2x the power of the 2009 model.

All the electric grinders from bargain shops aren't very good, they lack power and the batteries don't last that long.

This Aldi model does look better then others though, might be worth a try.

I'm happy with my gigantic manual grinders from Aldi however :)

  • Got a pair for a present and they are worthless.

  • Shame to hear they're not so good - they'd look pretty cute in my kitchen.

  • Slapping batteries in something does not make it worth buying. People buy these style of things to add a touch of restaurant class - a motor whirring sorta kills that image.

    • lol Yes I really try to recreate a restaurant feel in my own house. I even hire someone to ask if I want cracked pepper on my meal.

      • The irony is that restaurants have enough turnover that the pre-ground pepper stays fresh enough.
But at home, a grinder is the only sensible way to get decent pepper.

        • Agreed. I love freshly cracked pepper. But I also love the convenience of the electric salt and pepper grinders. I have the Russell Hobbs ones and they are great. Agreed they don't have the 'restaurant look' of manual ones, but I went for convenience :)

  • At least they are cheap…I blew my money on a set from Harris Scarfe which cost around $40! (Russell Hobbs I think) And yes they were crap.
