  • Good deal but i wish you would have posted this on the 18th. Doing it now will just move the deal to the back pages and a new deal will have to be posted on the day.

    • Not if it gets onto the top deals list

  • +1

    From the T&Cs:

    "Shipping & handling applies"

So can you please update the title and move to new deals section and not freebies?

    • Good deal!
      The complete terms and conditions-
'*Valid on August 18th, 2010 only. Offer limited to first 1000 pairs of glasses for Sydney residents. Offer includes frame, standard 1.5 index lenses, A/R coating, UV coating and Scratch Resistant coating. One free pair per household. Shipping & handling applies. Clearly Contacts reserves the right to cancel orders that do not fit these criteria. Some frame exceptions apply. By signing up to receive the free glasses offer, we may send you emails from time to time to inform you of exciting promotions such as this one. Your information will always be kept private and you may opt-out of receiving them at any time.'

      • So they no longer chuck in prescription lenses anymore?

  • What about the rest of NSW? :-/

I've received two the last time they've had these offers.. each time I have donated them to OPSM.. probably wouldn't do it again but it is very cheap!

Darn, I need new spectacles but I'm in Melbourne! Anyone can in Sydney can help forward the glasses to me??? Haha nah, just kidding.

cute_dimples: what the hell? don't do this.

  • oz bargain deleted my comment! What i meant to say was, because you order them online, you can't try them on and for me, they totally did not suit my face. so I had to donate them. It's a good bargain, but just be prepared if they don't quite look like the picture or if they don't suit you. They've had this deal before and I've purchased 2 times.. I probably wouldn't try again since postage is about $18 each time!

    • Don't they have the option not to pay until you receive and are happy with them, with the return postage free?

  • It is hard to pick glasses without trying them out. Size is very important otherwise they fall off your face / everywhere else. Plus the look etc.

  • IF i previously order once through this deal, can I order again with the same address?
mine experience is very good with them.
I picked the style which is similar to my current glasses, and same measurement too.
    works perfect for me
want to order one pair for my mum this time

  • I missed out on the last offer because I didn't have my prescription details on me. By the time I got home (only 3 hrs later), the offer was all gone. :'(
I got a pair of "aviator" shape tinted prescription with their "sorry you missed out, here's half price" offer, and am quite happy with it considering how much I only paid.

  • Thanks for the post.

  • for those of you playing at home, the exclusion list can be found here: http://www.clearlycontacts.com.au/coupon-unvailable-products…

so if you had your heart set on one of those, better change your mind quick smart. the coupon code is still TBA.

Offer includes frame, standard 1.5 index lenses, A/R coating, UV coating and Scratch Resistant coating. Upgrades to thinner lenses, tints, Transitions cost extra. • awesome $14.03 shipped!!

  • awesome! just ordered some. My glasses broke about a week ago and havn't gotten around to replacing them. I measured my old glasses and picked some that are the same shape. $15.24 postage

  • Strange they used to have free shipping for glasses and thats what it mentions on their website still on top… But yet when you place an order they charge you for shipping. Weird.

    • did you get the email? apparently this promo is for people who signed up to receive an email for free glasses.

      • I never got the email but i did sign up for it which was strange as well.

      • You dont need to have signed up , you just need the code, which is GETFREEGLASSES. Enter during checkout.

  • $15.83 shipped. eta 31 August. thanks OP!

    • Haha I walked to my local optometrist to grab my perscription and she was like 'free glasses? they probably just want your details' PS local optometrists charge heaps for their frames and shakes a fist at those cheaper glasses stores like specsaves lol

      Ordered thanks OP!

  • There is free shipping… if your glasses total exceeds $149 in value. And the coupon does not apply to expensive frames!

  • I did exceed 149$ Because i got transition lenses. But i couldnt get the free shipping to work sadly.

  • Great deal - I got some nice Kate Spades and my mum even got a pair.

  • GAAHHHH askjda;jsdgajsd!! They made it out like the first 1000 subscribers will be eligible for the offer. What's so exclusive about the email if anyone can use the code. I signed up straight away but I missed out! Need a new pair as well :'(

    • Dude if you signed up and got the email, it said keep your computer close on the 18th, so you should have checked your inbox first thing in the morning - why would they start a deal like this in the afternoon? I ordered mine around 1 and they were still available then. anyway, use the code here for 50% http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29957 if you still fancy something or just wait another couple months till it runs again (hopefully, as based on past patterns)

  • I tried at about 3pm and they were still going, however my "free" specs would have cost about 130 since it only gave me the option of choosing expensive lenses which added another hundred to the price. I'm not going to buy glasses online for over 100 bucks without even being able to try them on to see if the style suits or fits.

    • Yeah, I mean there's not much to lose if you got them for only the $15~ shipping cost. I could get them 50% off but that's still too much to pay for glasses that have a good chance of not suiting or fitting. sigh Suppose I'll just wait till the next one, whenever that may be.

  • Code expired at 5pm…

  • I just needed new readers and the ones I chose were $99 complete so with the coupon I only paid the $15 postage. I'm pretty happy!

  • can you check your order status? it is strange they still did not send me any confirmation of my order.

  • i was going to order some glasses, but they don't seem to have a big variety for larger frames and they all seemed to be pretty small size for my face..rather order some from goggles4u or another site for around $20.00 including that suit better

  • I received confirmation of my order within minutes. Email said to expect them around the 31st August.

  • Anyone else got their order canceled? I don't know why mine was canceled as I chose the eligible one. Hmmm.

    • I just found out my order got cancelled too. And I still don't know why as I chose the eligible one >:(

      • Just got an email from them stating that in the terms and conditions:

        "Previous Free Pair customers excluded."

How come I did not see that earlier. Oh well.

  • Yeah same for me, shame. I think its because our household has had a freebie glasses before even though the way i order them arent really free (the lens costs me more than a 100$) but i would say thats the reason.

  • Does anyone happen to know what 'Checkout without payment" means? I clicked that just to check what it was, and now I'm getting confirmation emails. I didn't even put in a credit card number :|

    • With Clearly Contacts, you dont have to pay until after you receive your order. So with that option you wait till you receive the item and it will come with an invoice plus you already have an invoice emailled to you. After you have received the item you can pay for it with the details on the invoice (order no.).

  • Oooh crap mum's not gonna be happy.

    • why? you can still pay whenever you like. you can pay right now if you want.

  • Well you see, I'm 14 :| Mum was okay with it then she changed her mind, and I decided to click "checkout without payment"

    • You can cancel the order if you want, its only been 1 day, it should be ok. But i would suggest you call them plus send them an email immediately with your order no. if you wanted to cancel.

  • wonder if my health fund will reimbursement for the postage :P

    • Mine does, so i would assume yours would too.

  • Got mine today. Paid just under $37 in total (missed out on free promotion so bought some at 50% off) and wow, I couldn't be happier! Glasses case, cleaning cloth, glasses screwdriver, free sunglasses (though cheap), free glasses (!!) gift card (just pay shipping) all in a nice box. Wasn't sure if the frames would suit me and took me around 3 hours to decide between 3 pairs but glad I chose the ones I got because they look great. Will definitely recommend clearlycontacts.

    • Got mine today (just paid for shipping). I am very very satisfied with my purchase.

I got in addition to what you mentioned (I thought the free sunglasses were 3D specs!) not one but two glasses screwdrivers and a gift card for me to exercise this deal again!

I was hesitant with the sizing and whether the frames suited me so I used the site's recommendation and it worked.

      • Mine came in yesterday too, opened them today. Looks fantastic, nabbed one of the expensive free pairs :) Was definitely difficult deciding which to buy without trying but I am pleased. I also received the spare glasses pouch, cleaning cloth and 1 x glasses screwdriver, though no free sunglasses or another free purchase voucher :( maybe coz I ordered the most expensive free pair they had and didnt pay to upgrade the lenses although recommended so they said NO - haha ultimate tightness on my part!

Is the free new pair code a generic one or is it specific to each customer? Why dont you 2 post both yours here and we can compare ;) lol

And come on you 2, give the man a positive vote for posting a good deal already, not that it'll make any diff now :D

  • This deal is well and truly over, but just FYI for anyone reading it in the future. I got my free glasses, happy with the look but the lenses just aren't the same as the pair I'm wearing (and the prescription is only 6 months old) - it's over-magnified. I had the clearlycontacts glasses checked at my optometrist and they confirmed that the prescription is right, but couldn't work out why they're not the same - they wondered if the lens might have a problem.

The issue is that (of course) because they're only really an online company there's no real help available to me. I rang the company (NOTE TOO - the hours that they're available are all based around USA times) and they did say I could send them back (I'm not sure who would pay), but that wouldn't really help me work out what the problem is.

What am I trying to say? Just to be sure that you don't pay for something you wouldn't be ok to have a problem with - because there's not really any recourse if it's not quite right. Glasses are shipped from the USA & I noticed the bill is from Holland.
