10 users have added their referral link an not a single comment or upvote by at least 7 of them. Why am I not surprised.

    • +6

      Standard OZB

    • It's now 287 adding there link and only 175 upvotes

  • It's better than the 500 VA points being offered by BP at the moment.

  • Easiest and quickest way to earn Velocity points?

    • +9
      1. Fuel up at BP and swipe your velocity card.
      2. Transfer your flybuys points to velocity
      3. Transfer from your credit card awards store to velocity
    • +1

If you fill up at BP, you earn 2 Velocity Points per litre. (That would get you the points bonus with a 20 litre fill up)
      https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Earn/fuel/

Otherwise Flybuys transfer. 2000 Flybuys points = 870 Velocity Points.
      https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Earn/flybuys/
When I signed up to Flybuys I got sent offers with the card, one being 2000 bonus points on first shop >$60 (I think that was the value) which gets you your first velocity transfer when you have them linked.

YMMV, however where I drive around Brisbane I never see BP for less than about 5 cents per litre more expensive than almost anyone else. Given you get 2 points per litre, that's a minimum of 2.5c per point. BNE to SYD is about 8000 points, so $200 at 2.5 cents per point. Compared to about $125 for cash. Good value if someone else is paying for the fuel though!

I expect most OzBargainers are buying their fuel with discounted Wish gift card, so should be saving 5% off the Woolies Caltex price, so roughly 6 cents per litre savings. If BP is 5 cents above the displayed Woolies fuel price, each point you get at BP is "costing" 5.5 cents. That makes your one way fare BNE to SYD in economy, ~$400. wow.

I am interested if anyone knows a BP in Brisbane which beats the prices of Freedom, Matilda/Puma or Woolies with a discounted Wish eGift card?

        • Yes that is very much valid, it's all dependant on what fuel prices are doing in your area. Where I am located in VIC, currently BP is on par, if not 1-2c cheaper than its competitors so for me BP is fine to use.
If you don't already use it, GasBuddy is an app where you can see what fuel prices are doing in your area. http://gasbuddy.com.au/

        • +1

Most ozbargainers fill up at BP using their amex with the current promotion.
I rarely fill up at BP but have done in the past, when my local Puma was the cheapest and have to wait at least half in hour.

    • Here are 3 easy ways to earn 40 Velocity Points today:

      1. Fill up your car with 20 litres of fuel or more at any participating BP service station and receive 2 Velocity Points per litre;

      2. Shop online via the Velocity eStore and spend $20 or more. Choose from hundreds of your favourite brands including eBay and The Iconic;

      3. Book ahead with Wilson Parking Book A Bay and you’ll earn five Velocity Points per $1 spent* at over 85 participating Wilson Parking car parks across Australia.

How do i find what my referral link is

    • +1

You would have received email. They've sent them in batches. The 2nd or 3rd batch was this morning.

      • +1

Still haven't received it. Last thing I got from them was them wanting me to vote for them in some 'Freddie' awards.

        • Unless you have unsubscribed from marketing messages (i.e. promotional emails) from Velocity then you will receive it to your nominated address.

        • @timbo83: As per my post above, I still get -many - marketing e-mails. Just haven't received this one yet…

    • +1

It's at the bottom of the email you (presumably) would have received. Other then that, I tried searching for it in accounts but couldn't find it…

    • +2

Look through the E-mail account where you normally receive E-mail communications for "Who will you bring?"

Edit: never mind, I got the points. This was so easy. This is honestly a better deal than OP's. This should have it's own deal post it's that good.

Great deal 😊Now waiting for 1000 bonus points

        • @justhooked:

they keep asking me to verify my ID

          Is that what you did

        • @easternculture: no just signed up even put false phone number as suggested , no email verification either , signed up 5 other family members as well no issue

          @justhooked:

Did you put your real details

        • @easternculture:

          All real expect phone

        • @justhooked:

ok, apparently they cross reference your details with VEDA before giving you access to the rewards page

I was using all fake details

Keep an eye, you might get an inquiry on your credit file

      • just did it!
Sign up this link https://promotions.crownbet.com.au/join-offer-5000-points-b/ to get 5000 crown points.
Takes approx 10 min after account setup for 5000 points to appear, then transfer to get velocity 2500 points!

2× Crown Rewards Points =1× Velocity Point = 2500 velocity points

        • How do you transfer the points once you get the crown bet points?

Edit- nevermind I finally found it.

CrownBet will attempt to verify all customers electronically using Veda Advantage. CrownBet.com.au uses the secure services of Veda Advantage Solutions to run an ID check on the details you provide when you first join. Should the Veda ID validation service not be successful you are required to verify your identity by providing certified copies of your identification.

oh oh, does this mean there'll be a credit check against your Veda profile? Not good for anyone that is conscious of their score.. especially if doing home loans etc

      • +1

Give crown a fake phone number because they have already called me twice re advertising etc and 'welcoming me to crown'.

    • Once signed up and points received - use this link to transfer:

      https://crownbet.com.au/rewards/redeeming-points/velocityfre…

I was looking through the site and if you are in Melb is the $50 gift card a better use of points? Can be used in numerous restaurants….

      • Are the points meant to instantly appear in your velocity account when you transfer? Like flybuys. I redeemed 5000 each for my wife and I but the points are yet to appear in my velocity account.

        • +1

site says 3 days before points hit your account

        • Transferred my 2500 points yesterday and were in my account today

Thanks to the poster of this deal I have nearly enough points for two flights 😊
Just waiting for my 1000point bonus

        • @justhooked: got my points today too! Cheers OP!

  • Great way to earn a quick 1,000 velocity points.

We are pleased to confirm that you have successfully set up your Velocity PIN.

Your Velocity PIN will allow you to use your Velocity Points in-store at participating retail partners.

As part of the Velocity PIN set-up process you now have a $10 in-store redemption option.

    • +2

It's just an option. They are not giving you $10.

  • Can't join, keeps telling me "Please fix the indicated errors" without actually indicating anything. grrrr

  • How can I find my Velocity referral id?

  • This is great opportunity to combined with BP offer on Amex to get first earn. Velocity tickets are also way easier to redeem than QFF for flights.

    • +1

And if everyone in SA on EnergyAustralia signs up, the scheme will be up for Millions of points. lol

  • Thank you for this. I've put my referral code in - where do I go to see it in action?

And , how will I know if it has been used by a kind ozbargainer - just curious!

    Thanks

    • Check the same place you put your referral code in. It will say if someone has clicked on it (but if someone has there is no guarantee they will still sign up and even still earn enough points to get you the referral bonus)

  • +1

+1 from me, added referral link! cheers OP

    • Ditto

  • Got an email and have added my referral link. +1 OP

  • Got this email this morning and the only reason i didn't post it was because i thought it was targeted, rookie mistake!

    • +1

Even if an offer is targeted it is still good enough to post :)

      • Yup I got mine on Friday and thought nobody would be interested lol.

  • How do I add my link to the referral wiki?

    • +3

i think I did it, I clicked edit and added my promo code and hit save. Hopefully someone uses my link.

  • The new person needs to earn 40 points first though right? Any easy way for doing so?

    • +3

      The website says:

Here are 3 easy ways to earn 40 Velocity Points today:

      1. Fill up your car with 20 litres of fuel or more at any participating BP service station and receive 2 Velocity Points per litre;

      2. Shop online via the Velocity eStore and spend $20 or more. Choose from hundreds of your favourite brands including eBay and The Iconic;

      3. Book ahead with Wilson Parking Book A Bay and you’ll earn five Velocity Points per $1 spent* at over 85 participating Wilson Parking car parks across Australia.

    • Another quick way of earning may be to sign up for e-rewards (via velocity website) if you enrol and take a survey you can redeem for 750 bonus velocity points - then cancel the account. They can take a while to credit from e-rewards so as long as redemption occurs before 30 April 2017 and credited to your Velocity account by 31 July 2017 it should be OK (as per Ts&Cs).

      • +1

i saw that email, but thought it was a bit dodge, like all survey sites! lol

        • it's ok. rejoined last week and had survey come through following day. you have to redeem the bonus points from their site (as in not an automatic transfer to velocity). From memory they only post to velocity once a month.

  • What is the approximate cash value of velocity points?

  • If you do the math every OzB member can utilize this deal and profit….

    • +2

I wouldn't want it any other way!

  • Done OP. I'll link my mobile and other service to prop the referral. Cheers.

  • Would one recommend making their standard debit purchases through the Global Wallet?

I use credit for big ticket items and my debit card for say - paying for meal.

  • +1

doh, didn't get a email - velocity sent me too many emails so I unsubscribed to all!

  • Do these cards cost you to maintain them?

    • No

      • I remember I had a temporary velocity points card, then finally BP sent me a full-Velocity card. When I read the PDS there was somethinga bout $12 annually. I could be wrong. Can one of these cards be picked up at the BP counter?

        • You might be able to get bp temporary cards there which u can then link to ur account once u get a full card. I've looked through the fees and charges in the t&c's and there isn't any annual fees. Unless you were looking at a velocity credit card but the annual fees are higher than $12

        • @Slo20: Ok right now I know whats going on. It was something about a credit card. Cheers

  • I just joined using a random link from this post.
Just wondering how do I find my referral code ? Couldn't find any under "My Account" ?

  • +1

    Thanks OP! +1 upvote

  • Does an one know when the bonus 1000points will be deposited signed up my wife and she received the 2500 from crown
In her account today that was transferred to me via family pooling so hoping I will get 1000 bonus and she will and that will be transferred to me via family pooling .

    • +1

I think I've seen it somewhere in the T&C that a transfer will not be counted towards the 40 points.

      • Found this so other transfers should be ok

        e. Velocity Points received as part of Family Pooling, Points Transfer – Family or Velocity Points that are issued by Velocity Frequent Flyer or Virgin Australia as a gesture of goodwill will not be considered an Eligible Earn Transaction and the offer will not be fulfilled.

        • Has your 1000 bonus posted yet?

        • @Redwood:

No as below could take up to 10 weeks

        • @justhooked: Yea though most instances of up x weeks, if things were automatic it usually post within a few days. Seems like they're either running it in batches or manual.

  • Also found this in terms, bugger I need to book a flight this week

It may take up to 10 weeks after an Eligible Earn Transaction has been credited to your account for the bonus Velocity Points to be fulfilled.

  • Can someone please help me - how do I find my referral code ? Couldn't find any under "My Account" ?

    • also like to know this

      • Called customer care and was told that referral link was sent out to customers randomly and only they have the ability to refer others

        Sounded weird to me.

Probably all the old members would have received the referral links.
All the new members who registered after this deal still need to wait for the promotion email to come through.
Unfortunatley, Referral codes are not available in their online system.

        • thanks, but ended up finding my flatmates email with the referral link

  • I am having trouble locating my referral link as well. seemed easy for other people. I probably missed sth very obvious. Can someone please help? Thanks

    • We've only known of this referral through the email that they sent us. It is not available from anywhere else at the moment, so I assume they are currently only available to those who are already members prior to the promotion.

  • +1

few BP pumps have a velocity temperary card which gives you 500 bonus points as well. I found one in Browns Plains, so you end up earning
500 bonus points, plus 2 points per litre
As BP also accepts amex you get 2 points on your amex card as well.
    Plus 1000 bonus referral points
    Cha Ching!!!
